1. Shane and I got divorced. Married for 5 years, and pretty much just grew in different directions. He was also doing shady shit on a work trip to the Philippines and all trust was lost after that. Though it was an amicable split. Oh, and I kept Toph in the divorce.

2. Went through a horrid dating life. Met my current bf. Life is good right now.

3. Got in a weird situation where I got in a good bit of trouble due to me having to escape a dangerous situation. Lost rank. Hit high year tenure. So now getting out of the military and focusing on school/getting an actual job.

4. Cut most of my family out of my life or at extremely low contact. Only talk to my brother, really.

5. Got a bunch of cool tattoos.

6. Got some neat piercings.

7. Minor drinking problem… but I’m managing it well now.

8. Got super into weightlifting, though my physique is mid. Planning to post more as I make progress. It’s the only activity I can do that keeps me grounded. And lift heavy thing make brain go brrrr.

9. Oh, I moved to Okinawa, Japan. Been here more than three years. But unfortunately moving back to California in January. :(

That’s pretty much it! There’s a bunch of other stuff in between somewhere but these are the cliff notes.

..And it all reminded me of when I went through all of this with Logan. Except, Shane and I have been together for years. We have a strong foundation and have planned this out before diving in.

We understand that in order for this distance to work, we have to communicate how we feel. Something my ex refused to do.

Thankfully, him leaving did not hit me as hard as it did when I went through this the first time. I do miss him, but I know that it will go by fast. And I will be able to go to his graduation and be able to spend time with him and not feel like “just the short term girlfriend”-- I am his wife and I have the RIGHT to be there.

I am so proud of him. He probably got sick of me saying that to him, but its so true. I am trying not to make the same mistakes I did in my past relationship. I want to make Shane happy, and I want to see him succeed.
