it’s been a long, long time

“I’m so happy for them”

I have now seen Crimes of Grindelwald twice, so it is time for this lifelong Harry Potter fanatic to write her review.

Let me start with just a few non-spoiler thoughts:

1. I liked it better the second time. Maybe just something to keep in mind if you haven’t seen it yet or have only seen it once.

2. Newt Scamander is 100% the best character. I have genuinely never related more to a fictional character: the social awkwardness, the love of “scary” creatures, the desire for closeness but discomfort around people… I 100% am Newt Scamander. And Eddie plays him so beautifully, so wonderfully. So I will say that no matter what, as long as Newt continues to be in them, I am going to continue to see these movies. Because I love him. Also he is beautiful.

3. I am keeping an open mind about where Jo is going with all this

All right. And now, I’m going to go in order of: the terrible, the bad, the mediocre, the good, and the great. Because ending with the great makes me feel better.
