It annoys me that these passages weren't put in the films as scenes. I can just picture Maggie doing them so much justice.

Tbh I am just not engaging with it all, the only reason she has “power” in these situations is because people give her the time of day and interact.

In regards to the series, I do think it’s necessary to consider that it was written prior to major movements that have occurred in recent years - that have allowed more people more aware of particular issues within society such as under representation. I think it is also pragmatic to view it as a children’s book. Yeah there’s issues, but no one is ever going to be happy either. I dunno I just let myself enjoy the books and not think too deeply about it all due to the fact that it is a children’s book essentially.
