it's wild how quickly and easily people will pedojacket you for defending childrens rights. I've been called a pedophile for saying 'i treat sixteen year olds like adults.' I heard a podcast recently where the host got looks for saying 'i was playing in the pool with some kids' as if thats not an imminently normal place for both adults and kids to be.

it's also worth noting that this is intentional. the constant accusations of pedophilia and grooming are built specifically to prevent adults (and especially queer or marginalized adults) forming solidarity with kids, or from treating like anything other than things to be avoided.

If treating a kid like an adult automatically makes someone a pedo in your mind then I'm worried about how you treat adults

#also the people who immediately assume you're a danger to kids are notoriously telling on themselves #the conservatives screeching 'protect the children' always tend to turn up with shit on their hardrives and their own kids disowning them #(if they don't get disowned first for stepping out of line ofc....)#if you can't have a normal interaction with a kid coming up to you in public or a teenager working customer service #idek what to say to you...like that's still just a person......#if you fly out of the gate being sexual with any adult the second you meet online or offline that's still inappropriate....#and i say this as a child free person who goes out of their way to never have to be responsible for other peoples' kids #i'm still responsible for everyone i participate with in society as are the rest of you #the bigots pointing at queers for being a danger to kids are always always behaving badly with children #and they're always always mad at the ones who take in their abused and kicked out offspring it's a vicious cycle

Oh just to take out the bins more often bc it's summer and humid #because i found LITERAL MOULD growing in the kitchen compost bin (the outdoor bin? oh it's about 2 meters away...)#and cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen bc i found dog-toxic stuff on the floor #you know really outlandish inconsiderate expectations that I have bc I'm overbearing and have impossible standards :D #ghost of christmas future needs to visit them with some harsh realities!!!!#when i move out and this place becomes a fly-infested contact dermatitis paradise then that will also somehow be my fault #it's actually insane that i can spend 3 hours cleaning communal spaces and not get a fucking peep of a thank you #but then the second i say 'hey we need to make sure we're paying attention and doing/not doing X' then suddenly #well they've NEVER done that and they have NO IDEA about X and then cue the pissy silent treatment for 1.5 days #because i dared to suggest they pull 25% of their weight instead of the 15% they've been cruising at #the real fucking kick in the teeth is that if i STOP all my extra efforts then I'm still the one who has the worst end of things #they genuinely don't seem to notice when things are literally filthy like sometimes i think about how bad it was when i first moved in #and i can feel my skin getting literally itchy #and you know it's my own fault i should have known #when someone brings u a sob story about how their last housemate abandoned them and broke the lease to move in with their partner #you need to read between the lines better and NOT just view it as an opportunity for some cheaper housing #because that OG roommate bailed for a damn good reason #a damn good undiagnosed reason that is incapable of empathy or accountability bc both of those things require EFFORT #I think I'm just extra salty 2day because it's been getting so much worse #like they're regressing skills and compassion in real time and when they're stressed (which is ALL the fucking time bc they have #no coping strategies that actually help instead of making things worse)#then it just gets significantly worse #the cherry on top is that I KNOW that they have help and support available and offered to them but they refuse to take it #because it would require work on their part and they aren't willing to try #like the scoop i could give if I really wanted to air all their shit out is actually ridiculous #but nay i am choosing the calm path i am looking 2 my own future and any guilt tripping they shall lay upon me will fall flat #ommmmmmMMMMMMMMMM #rant

honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before

#it's so important to me it really makes you re-visit a scene in completely new light when done well
