one might argue that "then why haven't you overthrown them then?" well we tried. our government has killed well over 32 thousand people in just 2 days, mocked the murders of children and teenagers in live national tv and imprisoned so many students and professors, hell they even arrested medical DOCTORS who helped the protestors.

y'all keep saying "yeah it's all mossad/us propaganda" but i need you to understand that people in Iran have been in a digital blackout for three months now. the ONLY people who have access to internet are the ones who AGREE and spread IRAN'S PROPAGANDA.

there's a whole war happening and instead of alarms, they cut out our internet and phone connections, we couldn't even call or text our loved ones. don't get me wrong i hate interference from another country on our inside situation but i need you to understand that our hatred and fury with our current regime is far greater than us hating isreal and us bombing us.

YOU CANNOT USE A PRINTING SITE TO PRINT OUT FANFICS LIKE A BOOK.

That is ILLEGAL.

It could ruin fanfiction for everyone.

Like, don't self publish fic as a book? (Obviously don't.). Or don't take the file over to Kinko's to print? (That seems like it would be okay.)

Printing out a fic with your own devices and materials and then binding it into a book, yourself, is okay.

But if you were to use a site like Lulu, where you pay them to professionally print out a fic and bind it into a book, then it is illegal.

Because money is being made off of something that neither YOU nor Lulu own.

Say you were to download a complete Star Trek fic off of AO3 and then send that to Lulu to print into a physical book.

You do not own Star Trek.

Lulu does not own Star Trek.

Yet Lulu just made money off of it when you pay them for this printed version of a Star Trek fic.

That's why it's illegal and fans need to STOP doing it.

Or it could jeopardize the ability we've been granted to write and post fanfiction online, AT ALL.

I know this isn’t viable for all Americans and in general I wouldn’t recommend it (given how difficult it can be) but I know a lot of vulnerable people are desperate and feeling very unsafe in the USA right now. I’m not judging anyone, which is why I am providing this information with no bias what so ever.

Americans should also know that Canada has every single systemic social issue that the USA does, so moving here is not going to necessarily get rid of these issues. They may be less severe in some ways, more severe in others but there are serious issues here, so if you are considering this please don’t uphold Canada as some kind of utopia.

This isn’t going to be a solution for everyone, but for Trans people, People Of Colour, Immigrants and many other marginalized groups may no longer feel safe after tonight’s election result, so I’m just offering whatever help I can.

People want to work. People want to be useful. I volunteered to make rehearsal tracks for my choir because I wanted to work. I have beta-read friends' fics because I can't work as an editor any more.

And every once in a while it just randomly hated some people. Not for any real reason, or even reason to suspect bad vibes, but by deciding "fuck this person in particular" for shits and giggles alone. And one time when the owners had invited a new friend to their home, the bird decided that it Did Not Like Her.

So in the middle of polite conversation, the bird - who was free to roam around the apartment at the time - hopped onto the living room coffee table, right in front of the unwanted guest. And in that moment, the owners put two and two together and understood that whatever mischief the bird had decided to do, it was now too late to stop it.

But instead of unleashing the absolute hell that even the tiniest displeased parrot could be capable of, the little budgie made its little "may I have your attention please" cell phone notification sound, and once the guest was focused on the bird, looked at her dead in the eye while doing the putting-my-coat-on wing motion.

The guest did not recognise the pantomime for what it was, but she was nonetheless delighted that the parrot would do a little wing-roll dance for her. And the host couple were at first too stunned and then too polite to tell her how impressive that gesture truly was. Their bird had shown both remarkable restraint and cleverness by using its entire vocabulary of human communication just to say

I love the comparison, but I hate how they are comparing.

They are acting like she is using optics to give herself an advantage. But the device she is wearing is just for comfort and essentially does the same thing as closing one eye and squinting the other.

The little thing over the left eye is basically like an eye patch.

And the thing over her right eye is a mechanical iris, like in a camera lens, but it is NOT a lens.

Different lighting environments are going to be brighter or darker and you may have to squint more or less to let in the same amount of light into your eye. Squinting allows the shooter to get the sharpest possible vision in order to shoot a bullseye the size of a 12-point Times New Roman period.

But if you have to squint for hours for practice and in competition, this can strain your face muscles and become uncomfortable. So this iris basically squints for you.

It's more like wearing comfortable shoes so your feet do not hurt than a lens magnifying the target and giving an advantage.

Both athletes have access to these items. One felt more comfortable without them. The other didn't feel like getting a muscle cramp from squinting all day.

Either would have shot the same if they had or had not used these devices.

Just a funny difference in gear preference.

The gold medal winner in the women's air pistol finals was adorable and a bit overshadowed.

Oh Ye-jin, who is only 19, won gold and set an Olympic record with her final score.

Kim Yeji is her mentor and seems very supportive of her.

Also, Oh Ye-jin added a little heart to the barrel blocking thingie.

I mean, it's like she got lost at summer camp and just wandered into the Olympics to win gold.

And then the commentator said the bullseye was literally the size of a period—smaller than the actual pellets they are shooting. And that the entire target was the size of a coin.

They'd have to set up a macro lens next to every target for you to see them.

Pretty much every shot lands within the 3 inner circles. And if you hit the 3rd circle your shot is basically garbage. Like you'd see the shooters grimace and do an angry little foot stomp if they hit it there.

Like, if you get a 7 you might as well go home.

And the best shot possible is a 10.9—which would be hitting as close to the bullseye as can be measured.

This was Oh Ye-jin's final gold medal winning shot.

A 10.6!

It's absolutely bonkers how precise these shooters are.

I mean... look at this period...
