These are sketches for a headcanon. As I mentioned in this post, the concept for Zestial: over centuries of existence in hell, all of his "flesh" was replaced by webbing, except for his head. But webbing doesn't last forever. It tends to wear out. So what do spiders do when that happens? They eat the webbing and spin a new one. And the spiders, under Zestial's control, begin this process once every decades (+-). Grandpa becomes a skeleton, and the spiders slowly and painstakingly rebuild his joints and muscles.

This is his period of suspended animation, when grandpa is completely defenseless, and so at such times he locks his mansion, not letting anyone in, not even his own people. Kumys, as the main spider, and the automaton, inside which the soul of the Zestial, controls the process and watches over the soul so that it does not leave the body (if it does, then the grandpa will perish completely, in other words, he will return to the primordial chaos.)
