I think the Star Wars sequels really brought out the worst of this style of his. Like he set up all these mysteries, like Rey’s parents, who the fuck these Supreme Leader Snonk is, Finn’s connection with the force, with no plan ahead of time of what the answer to this stuff is. I felt like the last movie especially was affected by his “style” of pulling things out of his ass.
