just hallucinated only the bottom right panel and started giggling and decided i wanted to find the real thing to laugh about it again. and i couodnt so i had to go into my boyfriends dms and ask them if "do you have truckparts"
gonna be so real i did not realize the bottom was about purchasing and shipping automobile parts. I thought they were straight up intending to kill and dismantle the UPS truck like some auto mechanic apex predator.
Thereâs an emotion only unlocked when you live in a house with multiple stories. I call it âthe stair emotionâ and itâs when you realize the object you need is on the other side of yet another trip up and down those goddamn stairs. Itâs the closest I get to transcending the desire for material goods. Maybe I donât need that notebook. Maybe I donât need anything.
yall know when a show/movie/piece of fiction in general has a main character who is a total piece of shit and the point of that character isnt to make you look up to them and want to be like them, its just that characters are a narrative device and tools to tell a story and having the story follow a main character whos a piece of shit can be very entertaining which is the fucking point of almost every show/movie/piece of fiction, but then of course you have losers see the character and be like "i wanna be like them" and you have to be like "no the character wasnt made for people to look up to, theyre intentionally a character that you should not look up to" but then you also get idiots saying shit like "i can't believe this show/movie/piece of fiction made this piece of shit main character and celebrates being a piece of shit" and then you have to be like "no the character wasnt made for people to look up to, theyre intentionally a character that you should not look up to" and you feel like the only person who actually watches the fucking thing normally?? don't you fucking hate that
the trouble is that when a piece of shit is shown to be the main character, all the pieces of shit who have always felt like they are the main character get empowered. cartman being the star of South Park led to a notable increase in cartman-imitating behavior.
Listen I get it but you CANNOT use "sensory nightmare" as an excuse to avoid essential things. You HAVE to find a way to make it work, such as finding effective alternatives. But you can't just avoid it.
You need to eat some vegetables in your diet or you will become a lich.
You have to wear a life jacket or you will literally drown and die.
You need to be able to exist in public spaces with children.
You have to find a way.

i just got the "see where your blood has gone!" email from giving blood but it glitched and just showed me my current location. which. theyre not wrong. that is where most of my blood is
hey! I just finished your fanfic DogWolf on Ao3 and I just wanted to let you know how absolutely great it was! The ambience, your take on Javertâs perspective of things? Amazing work truly. I was a TINY devastated at the fact we didnât get to see how you would develop their relationship from then on but Iâm really happy your shared your fantastic work! I was hooked and read it in a few hours 𫩠thank you so much! I was wondering if you publish in any other plataforms or if you have original works?
Hey there! I don't remember if I answered this, sorry if I'm repeating myself - I'm rarely on tumblr these days.
Thank you for the compliments! I do sometimes regret not delving more into the happier aftermath of the events, but I am just not great at writing the actual romantic part of romance. There are much, MUCH better writers than me who tackled these two in the boudoir. The genre does not need my blushing efforts.
I do publish on other platforms, but the platforms are not in English: I have two original novels in the works on ficbook.net, a Russian-language platform. If anyone would like to read a fairly long novel-in-progress about artists, models and hired assassins in 1990s Ukraine, it's being slowly developed here. And there is also a novel that's sort of Stranger Things set in USSR, with more gay sex and far less whimsy.
By the way, @chlokers and I are sounding the Dogwolf audience for a potential second edition of the (fabulously) illustrated physical copy! The first run sold out fairly quickly, and more people have since inquired about it. If anyone did not get a chance to purchase one and wants to get their hands on a copy, drop me or @chlokers a line - if we get enough subscribers, we'll fire up the presses once more!

I
donât
understand
ALL I WANT IS TO KNOW WHAT THE PARIS POLICE FORCE IS CALLED SO I CAN PUT JAVERT IN IT AND I DONâT UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS
Donât worry - Hugo basically made Javert EVERY POLICE THAT EVER LIVED, without consideration for actualâŚ
A good case can be made that there was never any Javert to begin with - he was just the externalized personification of Valjeanâs paranoia. If you read the descriptions of his mental state after leaving Toulon, Valjean was well on his way towards full-blown Dissociative Identity Disorder.
âIt was because,âstrange phenomenon, and one which was possible only in the situation in which he found himself,âin stealing the money from that child, he had done a thing of which he was no longer capable.
However that may be, this last evil action had a decisive effect on him; it abruptly traversed that chaos which he bore in his mind, and dispersed it, placed on one side the thick obscurity, and on the other the light, and acted on his soul, in the state in which it then was, as certain chemical reagents act upon a troubled mixture by precipitating one element and clarifying the other.
First of all, even before examining himself and reflecting, all bewildered, like one who seeks to save himself, he tried to find the child in order to return his money to him; then, when he recognized the fact that this was impossible, he halted in despair. At the moment when he exclaimed âI am a wretch!â he had just perceived what he was, and he was already separated from himself to such a degree, that he seemed to himself to be no longer anything more than a phantom, and as if he had, there before him, in flesh and blood, the hideous galley-convict, Jean Valjean, cudgel in hand, his blouse on his hips, his knapsack filled with stolen objects on his back, with his resolute and gloomy visage, with his thoughts filled with abominable projects.
Excess of unhappiness had, as we have remarked, made him in some sort a visionary. This, then, was in the nature of a vision. He actually saw that Jean Valjean, that sinister face, before him. He had almost reached the point of asking himself who that man was, and he was horrified by him.
His brain was going through one of those violent and yet perfectly calm moments in which revery is so profound that it absorbs reality. One no longer beholds the object which one has before one, and one sees, as though apart from oneâs self, the figures which one has in oneâs own mind.â
Now Iâm imagining a âFight Clubâ type of scenario where Fantine sees Vajean threaten to arrest himself and Marius sees Valjean lead himself out of the Corinthe at gunpoint.
Itâs probably a bit more banal. Valjean interfered with a normal, non-Javert police agent with respect to Fantineâs arrest. The agent didnât particularly care, but Valjean got paranoid that he will now be denounced, because itâs damn suspicious of a mayor to side with a prostitute over a bourgeois. Then at some point in the future he received correspondence from the Ministry of the Interior or heard some gossip about a dangerous criminal having been apprehended in that area, trial set at Arras for such-and-such date. This explains why Javert delivered news of Champmathieu in such a colloquial, gossipy manner - Valjean was really listening to someone gossiping.
Cue self-denunciation as Champmathieu. And when he got to Fantineâs bed, he confessed his true identity to her, and he looked so demented that she began to screaming in horror.
Then he ran off, and some other policemen apprehended him. He might have âseenâ Javert in one of their - to him, interchangeable - faces.
There never was any Javert moving into the Gorbeau house to spy on Valjean or dressing in rags. Some dude named Daumont or Dumont moved in, and Valjean had a flare-up of paranoia. The next time he saw his old beadle beggar, he imagined it was Javert in rags. Soon he couldnât take it anymore, grabbed Cosette and ran, spurred on by sounds of police patrols around him and finally climbing a wall to get away from the phantoms chasing him.
The next few years, heâs free of Javert, like a child under a blanket is safe from the boogeyman in his head. Then he and Cosette leave. Naturally, Javert is waiting - eternal, unchanging, relentless.
Why? Because now that heâs out of the nunsâ service, Valjean starts feeling once again like he hasnât *paid enough* for his transgressions. So he begins to do intensive charity work, with Cosette now accompanying him.
Then the Jondrette misadventure happens.
Marius never had any talk with any Javert - Valjean got caught up in a regular police raid. He just imagined the story with Marius watching and not firing pistols he got from Javert, or whatever. Some inspector led the arrest. Valjean was sitting on the bed in a pain-haze from the burn he inflicted on himself. He was already checked out mentally: climbed out the window, spent the night wandering somewhere, then showed up home the next day and developed a âfeverâ for a month. Of course, he imagined Javert doing all sorts of kick-ass heroics - after all, HE had been doing all sorts of kickass heroics in the Gorbeau hovel before the cops showed up. But how much cooler would it have been if he didnât have to fight - if he could just look at people and make them stop being violent? Thatâd be sweet. Also, itâd be cool to be more sassy and all-around verbally impressive. Valjean kind of sucks at talking. And thus Javert the Omnipresent morphs into Javert the Sassy Kickass Psychic Cop.
After the wound heals, he goes out for a strong at dusk, encounters Montparnasse and delivers to him a lecture about the joys of honest work even Javert wouldâve rolled his eyes at. âWoe to the man who desires to be a parasite! He will become vermin!â - as though this had ANYTHING to do with how he had ended up at the galleys. But of course, if heâs in Javert-mode, it would hardly do to talk about the galleys as an unjust punishment heaped on the already disadvantaged poor.
As for the barricade - there was probably a guy from the Surete in there, and Valjean released him. Or it was just some guy who had nothing to do with the police but was accused of belonging to it and spying. The mob used to lynch suspected policemen in those days of cholera panic. Valjean led him out and freed him. The guy was confused but who was he to argue with a crazy benefactor? The guy probably just told him his address so that the guy might notify his survivors. A perfectly understandable impulse.
After the fighting, Valjean got Marius out, emerged from the sewers at the river, and OMG JAVERT. Naturally, there was no Javert. It was just Valjean coming to terms with the fact that he had just done something of the utmost goodness: sealed his own misery by saving his daughterâs future husband and thus condemning himself to solitude.
One might imagine this as Valjean telling himself: I have finally paid my dues.
And Javert comes out and says: You have not, the boy will die, this was a wasted effort, you still owe society.
Valjean hails a cab, delivers Marius to his house, goes home. At home, he lets go of his doubts - even if Marius dies, Valjean is 2460DONE. He has paid enough. It is finished.
So he kills off his persecutor by dropping him into the river (with a preliminary note detailing how to improve the lives of prisoners in various ways and make prisons more sensible).
And then when he admits his true identity to Marius, he was basically acknowledging all aspects of his personality and uniting them together again. He was no longer Javert, Fauchelevant, Madeleine - he was just Jean Valjean. He came to terms with his entire life.
Having done that, he ran out of things to do and died of boredom, misery, and prostate cancer.
#the end
âFight Clubâ was the wrong cultural reference. This is pure Dostoyevsky.
how do they know what kind of high their weed gives, if they are not allowed to use it? do they have a non-Amish weed taster? how does one get that job? someone write a pilot of this for Netflix

Sabrina the Teenage Witch â 3.14: Now You See Her, Now You Don't
Strange racists and homophobes on the internet seem to have access to an alternate way cooler version of TV than me. "every white character on TV is in an interracial relationship" "every show has a gay couple in it" "main characters keep having to secretly be bisexual and nonbinary" "every show has gratuitous full frontal nudity" like damn promise?? What channel???
as a black gay person real like where y'all be finding this stuff pass the name
for real though, those DO NOT WATCH OR YOU'LL CORRUPT YOUR CHILDREN lists put out by conservative christian family groups is where I find all the stellar tv shows. Like, shit I didn't know half of those existed, thanks for finding them for me, gonna go watch 30 hours of gay tv now!
I think I know how this works.
For personal context, before I went to the '98 Burning Man festival, one of the things I'd read from a couple different journalists was that "everybody" runs around naked. Which, fine by me, I'd already spent a lot of time in clothing-optional spaces, I'm not fanatic about it but it's nice.
So I got there early and set up a public shade structure on one of Black Rock City's main roads and spent most of each afternoon just watching the crowds go by. I don't remember seeing more than one actually naked person the whole week. I think a topless woman passed by my intersection maybe every half an hour, sometimes once an hour. So why in the hell were people, normally pretty smart and observant writers, coming away with the impression that everybody was naked?
Then I remembered an unrelated passage from Joel Garreau's great book about the history of the outer-ring suburbs, Edge City. Mall developers told him flat-out that they tried to keep the crowds in their malls less than 5% black. Not because they themselves were racist, but because they had determined, experimentally, that if more than 5% of the people in the mall are black, the median white shopper will wrongly describe the mall as at least half black, as mostly black. And not a few of them would describe it, at 6% black, as a mall where "only black people go." Why?
Because, emotionally, they were still upset over the last one when the next one came into view.
Same as the journalists describing Black Rock City as all naked. Same as the right-wing religious culture warriors describing television as entirely mixed-race and gender non-conforming. Not because it's even vaguely true, we know that, but because they haven't gotten over their discomfort over the last one by the time the next one comes along. The anger, not the stimulus, is the part that's continuous, so their mind lies to them that it's "all" the thing they can't get over.
Similar effect for the presence/proportion of women in things, by the way: https://health.howstuffworks.com/mental-health/human-nature/perception/how-17-equals-496-the-amazing-multiplying-women.htm
Because, emotionally, they were still upset over the last one when the next one came into view.
this has rewired some neural pathways for me
