it seems obvious (to me, maybe no one else) that in the same way that pizza became something almost completely different in the us after being invented in italy, the cyrodiilic pizza likely is a similar perversion of altmeri pizza. altmeri pizza is more like a crispy, cheesy flatbread, and tomatoes don't really grow well in summerset soil (despite being brought there fairly early by topal from black marsh and blackwood), so no sauce. pizza from the imperial heartland ended up being the truly iconic pizza, since the empire spread it to the other provinces, despite it being known as an altmeri dish. visitors to summerset are disappointed not only by the poor hospitality but also the mundanity of their pizza.
thinking about a few provincial varieties:
morrowind pizza is almost completely inscrutable, using mostly native ingredients and flavor profiles completely foreign to imperial tastes. either completely avoided by visitors (but beloved by locals) or sought after as a strange delicacy only appreciated by those with refined palettes.
black marsh pizza is the closest you'll find to "deep dish" (a good pizza is called by argonian bakers "deep enough to swim in"). very sauce heavy with little cheese due to an unfortunate tendency for argonians to be lactose intolerant. but other strange marsh toppings abound, with no two pizzas quite the same. you put on (or in) there what you can find locally, and hope for the best.
hammerfell pizza isn't actually pizza. imperials will call the dish "pizza," but do so at great risk when saying so near their redguard bakers. hammerfell "pizza," hailing from yokuda itself, is actually a completely unrelated dish consisting of a puffy flatbread enclosing a spicy, meaty mixture within its pocket. cheese is out of the question, and frankly sacrilege. ask for imperial pizza at a sentinel bakery at your own peril.
elsweyri pizza, as you might imagine, is quite sweet, often spiced either with moon sugar for locals or cane sugar for non-khajiiti who can't handle the narcotic. (in fact, any pizza with a notably sweet taste is called "elsweyri pizza" across the empire.) it's also the most similar pizza to original summerset pizza, having a thinner, crispier crust, and dipped into a tomato sauce rather than covered in it.

today’s morrowind npc of the day is tanusea velothi, a pilgrim who has contracted corprus disease and yet, thanks to almalexia’s blessing, remains miraculously unaffected by its symptoms. however, the blessing still leaves her infectious, and that combined with her presence in vivec city leads me to conclude that tanusea met almalexia during her “petty bitch” stage of decline. i love it

azura, the allotter: measures the length of life-thread allotted to each mortal. it's azura who, from her transient realm of dawn and dusk, solidifies the uncertain and liminal; her prophecies impose structure and meaning on the lives of the chosen
boethiah, the inevitability: cuts the thread of life at life's end. as the god of revolution and transformation, boethiah presides over the soul's final overthrow of the body and subsequent passage from the world of flesh to the world of spirit
all three of them are psychopomps in a way, which makes sense given the velothi's conception of death not as a cessation, but as a crowning transformation that one prepares for all one's life

i think i was the evil mud demon in this case...
idk, one of my favourite things about caves is how unconditionally safe i feel when i'm in them. the only time i feel endangered in caves is usually in entering/exiting, when there's sometimes a very steep tricky climb to navigate (either on ropes or, in the case of yesterday, the world's most stressful ladder). i'm a very paranoid person, i get spooked by random sounds while trying to fall asleep and harbour wild fantasies of people accosting me when i'm alone in a building. but in caves theres this complete sense of peace. you know exactly who and what is down there; the air is still, the only sound is of your team-members moving and the rhythmic musical drips of water. even if i'm going ahead of the group or doubling back through a passage alone, i have never once felt scared of running into something. on yesterday's trip i was leading the pack for a bit, ended up alone whie other people hung back, and tried to even imagine being scared of running into something, and i just couldn't. i just felt too calm. there's an incredible sense of safety in a cave. especially when you turn off your light and sit quietly in cave darkness, it's just... peace, total peace.
