the thing about "no one is talking about this!" posts is that at best they are weird guilt trips trying to make you feel personally responsible for the fact that you haven't heard about one specific thing happening that no one has mentioned to you. at worst they are just wrong because the op turns out to have no idea what people are talking about because they've never listened to another person in their life. either way I am not reblogging that
Even when those types of posts are making a decent point about certain conversations not getting as much attention as other issues, it's always undercut by that guilt trip element. I always find myself thinking, "Okay, well you aren't talking about it either, really. You're just mad that other people haven't heard about it and you're coping by moralizing your access to that information instead of helping others access it too." Like, so many of those posts would be way more effective in spreading the topic they want to see talked about by simply leaving the guilt trip out and putting more information or further reading about the topic itself into the post. If you don't see the conversation happening, it's okay for you to be the one who starts it. And if you try to start it by alienating anyone who's never heard of the issue, you're gonna find that people don't want to engage with you.

#and the 'no one is talking about this you're all bad people' is ineffective #yes it gets people to reblog because they feel guilty #but that's not going to actually result in them giving a shit once the guilt wears off ----
