started this one almost immediately after finishing the last mrs. parrish and it did not disappoint. if the first book felt like watching a slow unraveling, this sequel was a fast, messy, dangerous game where no one ever really wins. the last time we saw amber, she got what she wanted. jackson parrish. the wealth. the life she believed she deserved. but this book makes it clear that people like amber and jackson don’t just stop scheming. and when daphne is pulled back to bishop’s harbor for the sake of her daughters, you can only imagine how things spiral from there. what i enjoyed the most was that we weren’t just seeing amber and daphne again. there was a third voice added to the chaos and i think that made everything even more unpredictable. so many layers of manipulation, lies, and power plays. it was exhausting in the best way. also, i think it’s worth noting that this book doesn’t shy away from jackson’s violence, even if it’s framed in hindsight. the weight of that is heavy and it adds a different kind of tension knowing what daphne survived and what she’s still trying to protect her daughters from. if the first book felt like watching a well-planned heist, this one felt like sitting front row to a wildfire. everyone just trying to outsmart the next but the damage is already done. i don’t know if there’ll be another book after this but if the authors ever decide to write it i’ll definitely be reading.
