It kills me that Jonas=Sonja and Martha=Marek is a niche fandom theory instead of widely accepted as very heavily implied in canon because !! Without it the ending is kind of flat imo. Without it Jonas and Martha, these two people who do not exist in the og world and mean nothing to Tannhaus, being the ones who uphold the knot and have the responsibility of destroying it is not very satisfying. Without it even Martha and Jonas's immense and eternal love for each other after dating for one (1) summer lacks substance. Without it adult Charlotte's own little time loop lacks purpose. But if the two worlds split from the og one have the shadow of Marek and Sonja and baby Charlotte and they are at the center of everything because they are the reason Tannhaus split the world in the first place... It changes everything. It answers Martha's question of whether anything of them will remain. The answer is: You Are Looking At Them. The answer is: yes, your original selves as they were meant to be, before corruption. The answer is: Marek and Sonja and baby Charlotte.
