The only thing this Paris Mwendwa discourse has taught me is that trans women really believe that they are synonymous with black women. Like they truly believe that white women are the default women and the rest of us are some type of woman, but not really women. The idea that racism and gender criticism are even close to being the same thing really proves to me that they don't know what oppression is. But we really can't expect much from people who think not being allowed to be feminine is the same level of harm as girls having their genitals cut off.

We fought for the right to hold hands in public, to proudly say "my girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband" without fear of persecution, the right to marry, the right for our relationships to be treated with respect and dignity in the public sphere. We wanted to be able to come out, and not have to hide our lives in the privacy of our own homes. It wasn't just about sex, it was also about love and partnership, but these homophobes just see us as fellow deviants.

what's really frightening are discussions around plummeting birth rates; when you realize that some people sincerely believe that it is an actual societal duty for women to birth children. several countries have already imposed measures to boost the birth rate that makes it difficult for women to access not even abortions but basic contraceptives.
