೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝗢𝟯 ⠀ᰋ YOUR PASSION ℘ your passion for the things you do and love amazes me, the care and effort you put into those things as well, whether that be learning about them or creating things out of passion for them. It's so clear when you love something. It's something easy to admire from afar, and even more admirable when people get to know you better nana.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝗢𝟰 ⠀ᰋ YOUR CONFIDENCE ℘ though you actually tend to be quite humble in my opinion, about the skills you've built up amongst other talents, you're fairly confident in yourself. You aren't afraid to think or say you have good music tastes and good tastes in fashion, and I'm so glad you can markedly see those things about yourself and be confident about those statements, because they're absolutely true.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝗢𝟱 ⠀ᰋ YOUR RESILIENCE ℘ the way you face situations and handle them, even if it happens time and time again, I watch you adapt and recover and continue to grow from those things. The creativity you funnel into these, it's so cool. The colors, the layouts, your ideas and way of wording things, your storytelling. They're so unique, nana.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝟭𝟭 ⠀ᰋ YOUR ENERGY ℘ it's contagious in a sense, even over texting your feelings are almost palpable. No matter what they are. That's amazing to me too! That you can express yourself so well. Especially your joy, but everything you feel and think. Your energy is magnetic, if I had to use a word to describe it, but it's so versatile at the same time.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝟭𝟮 ⠀ᰋ YOUR GENEROSITY ℘ you're a very generous person, nana. You give your time and attention and so much more. It's one of the admirable things about you amongst the many others, from how I see it. You don't have to do the things you do, the nice gestures, but you do. It's so sweet.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝟭𝟯 ⠀ᰋ YOUR DECISIVENESS ℘ I consider you a fairly decisive person. In the sense that, you know what you want and when you want it. Even with your manifestations, it's very resolute. You decide and don't hesitate to want the things you do.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝟭𝟰 ⠀ᰋ YOUR PRIDE ℘ you take pride in yourself and your accomplishments. In turn, I think that means you respect what you do. You're aware of the worth you have, and that the things you've done have worth as well. Please don't ever lose that, it's a good thing to have pride.

೯⠀⁺ ⠀ 𖥻 𝟭𝟱⠀ᰋ YOUR INSIGHTFULNESS ℘ you're very insightful, at least in my eyes. You can look at things critically and through different perspectives, and with that you can evaluate things. You're able to see beneath the surface level of things, and overall you're an extremely observant person, nana.

Not all of these things will be apparent at times, they fluctuate and change with you, they fade and sometimes shine so brightly it's obvious to everyone. That's what makes them so amazing, because you're versatile. And still, I'm able to see them within you and within the actions you take and the words you say. It's an amazing thing to witness.

ᛝ “ THIS IS A STORY ABOUT TWO CHILDREN ”

  ✶ this post contains spoilers for witch hat atelier , proceed with caution.

ONE WHO HID TO BE HEARD  LOARNE spends most of their days sitting quietly in one of the many shops of Kalhn , usually next to their younger brother ( by a half a clock mark they claim ) , slotting cogs together and studying machinery. They keep to themselves and help their grandpa where they can , so to hear their mellisonant voice is a rare thing. If you asked Mr. Nolnoa , they lived in their own head more often than not.

AND ANOTHER WHO RAN TO BE REMEMBERED  TARTAH worked at The Starry Sword , crafting components alongside his family , he was happy. But with a disability that made most deem it impossible for him to ever fully be trained as a witch , he is left desiring more. He knowns it's in part why his twin refused to be an apprentice , not wanting to go on without him. Though don't let that fool you , he's more determined than you might assume. Mr. Nolnoa will tell anyone himself what a brilliant & motivated young man his grandson is.

“ He's back Tartah... ” . . . “ You can say his name y'know, Loarne. Qifrey. ”

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗢𝗦𝗠𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦 𑣿 𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗜𝗖

  Machines had never been commonplace , they were difficult to maintain and ample resources were needed to keep them running. You could go a whole lifetime and never catch a glimpse of one , after all , who needed machines when magic was bountiful and witches roamed this land , carrying blessings and aid?

     ᛝ 𝒜s the story goes , somewhere in the Zozah Peninsula

Loarne hated running errands with their grandpa , they'd much rather stay nestled comfortably at home with Tartah and perhaps take a nap followed by maybe reading a book or two. But of course , Mister Nolnoa couldn't carry everything by himself , and groceries had to be bought eventually less they starve. Still , to a nervous , tittering child such as themselves , the marketplace filled with people was a nightmare carried to fruition. Adults and children everywhere , absolutely frightening. Let's just say they were holding onto their grandpa's hand quite tightly. Starspice... they just needed to find a stall with starspice , where ever could it be? Though too preoccupied in their own thoughts, it had seemed they weren't watching their step, bumping into the back of someone's legs and toppling straight over. A bag had fallen in the collision , knocked from the strangers hands , the contents scattered onto the path. Glass shattered and springs went flying , but when they opened their eyes to see the damage , all they could focus on were the many brass circles with ridged edges spilling from the contraption. Grandpa had profusely apologized and they moved on , but Loarne was still dazed.

“ Grandpa... what was that thing? I've never seen any contraption use those... ” ࿓ “ Well I s'pose not , clocks like that don't use any seals , simple gears and things are what those run off of ” ࿓ “ it's not magic? ”

Why was that so... fascinating? To think... maybe the regular folk and the witches were closer to each other than they thought , if only those worlds... could meet somehow. Maybe magic and machines could be friends , one day.

             𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗘𝗦 ꕀ 𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗖𝗛 𝗔𝗠 𝗜

ᛝ “ I WAS THE LEVERET IN HIDING ”

✶ MISTER NOLNOA 𖬺͟ LOARNE ᛝ Mister Nolnoa. Loarne couldn't have picked a better grandfather if they'd tried. He never judged their struggles with people , or told them off for their constant tinkering and lack of interest in carving pens. He worried , yes. But he painted them in a positive way when most adults shook their heads in disappointment. That was more than Loarne could've hoped for. Someday , whatever path they went down , they'd like to be someone he could be proud of.

✶ TARTAH 𖬺͟ LOARNE ᛝ Tartah is the younger twin of the pair , at least Loarne says. They'd be nearly identical if it weren't for Tartah's eyes being silver and Loarne's overgrown hairstyle. Despite how onlooker's may view them , the two were actually quite independent , different in vast ways. He was always better at hiding his fears for one. And as sibling's they've had their fair share of fights, but they remained attached at the hip anyhow , because in the end , there were seldom people who could understand each others pain they way they could. Loarne knew , they'd always known , they'd follow their brother anywhere , to the ends of the world if it meant being by his side.

✶ COCO 𖬺͟ LOARNE ᛝ Coco didn't get to know Loarne until she'd started to get to know Tartah. Loarne tried to shrink away really , go back to working tirelessly on her blueprints. But whatever they did , Coco always tendered an open inviatation , holding out her hand. She was persistent in everything presented to her , it was hard to ignore. Harder to resent when they saw the hope that had returned to their brother's eyes. And once they spoke to the girl , it may have well been set in stone that Loarne would develop a soft spot for her.

✶ CUSTAS 𖬺͟ LOARNE ᛝ Custas met Loarne not to shortly after he had Tartah , lured in by their dear brother's request to help him retrieve something from Kalhn's Medical Facility. An obvious trap , looking back at it now. They were as day as it was to night , his smile and voice so bright while they could hardly speak to others at all. Though with that comparison, we must acknowledge the sun of the day is the one who gives light to the moon belonging to the night. And so , Custas gave light to Loarne , and they swore to one day return it. Whatever the cost.

✶ QIFREY 𖬺͟ LOARNE ᛝ Qifrey was a regular at The Starry Sword , and Loarne was grateful for that , but they'd rather steer clear from the witch to be truthful. But for all their evasive tactics , Qifrey still managed to offer them a smile whenever they were forced to interact with him. But sometime after that green-haired apprentice came into the shop , their forced encounters were unfortunately becoming more frequent.

⣔ᰮᝪ‥៓ ͙♥︎⁎̯͡ I'M A LOSER JUST LIKE YOU WAY TOO SCARED !!

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀AMO has noticed some things recently between her two new companions. And Amo's trying to learn about love and the people she cares about , so it's certainly caught her interest. Although... the way they act is way different than the picture books Amo's used to reading. Let's take a look at her observations and notes , shall we?

" (๑°ㅁ°๑) ❤︎ ໋𓈒 CODENAME ᛝ TANUKI "

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀TANUKI is Niko and Fu's unofficial official ship name, made up by Amo and Oona ﹙@ohsxxnta﹚so the pair wouldn't catch onto her talking about them. When coming up with it , she noticed the dark mask Fu kept on his face & Niko's past of digging through trash reminded her of those old animals she'd read about once before. Those Tanuki fellows who were said to be shapeshifting yokai , wasn't that sort of like Fu's jinki? And they caused mischief like Niko's jinki supposedly. And both of Amo's friends felt like invasive species already! So it was a perfect fit in her eyes!

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀̊ ႉ✸ . ̊ 𝗔𝗠𝗢'𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗡𝗔𝗟

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀Featuring . . . all of Amo's current && past observations pertaining to Tanuki , plus her interviews with a few of the other cleaners on the matter.

ྐ✚ THE FIRST OBSERVATION ᛝ Amo couldn't help but notice Fu strays nearer to Niko than he does anybody else. And that Niko never shoos him away. Anytime they're in the same room , they always seem to be together. If they're not , Amo can guarantee you the other isn't far away. Amo asked uncle Corvus why that was and all he said was " I guess we'll know when the time is right " as if that helps Amo at all !!

ྐ✚ THE SECOND OBSERVATION ᛝ They're so awkward Amo can't stand it !! As soon as either one of them make eye contact with each other , they suddenly go quiet and turn away to pretend they're looking at something else. They bump into each other and it's like they experience heart failure! Amo thinks they might actually die if she ever mentioned it! Amo asked Bro Santa to comment " Well I guess Niko's always been shy... but... " Amo knew she wasn't crazy !!

ྐ✚ THE THIRD OBSERVATION ᛝ Niko's always standing up for Fu , in her own way , telling Enjin to not be so mean and that Fu's doing his best. Fu always freaks out about this and insists it's fine , but Amo can tell it gets under her skin. And Fu is always asking if Niko needs anything directly after , sticking closer to her and trailing behind her. Amo remembers the girl being the damsel in distress and the boy being the knight in her storybooks , but maybe Niko and Fu are both at the same time? Amo asked Enjin " What do you want? Just say something to them if it's bothering you " ugh ... Amo should've known better.

ྐ✚ THE FOURTH OBSERVATION ᛝ Amo watches Fu smile at the things Niko says , even though they aren't orders. Everything she says. Good morning , goodnight , hi... everything. Maybe Fu's just glad Niko's nice to him , but she does the same. Her attention is immediately on him and she loses focus on anything else , as if she's trying to memorize every nervous word that falls out of his mouth. Amo asked Oona " Zanka... " what?? ugh! these people are no help!

⋅.˳˳.⋅ᩙ಼᮫⠀ HEY! YOU GOT EYES AND EARS, BUT YOU DON'T LOOK OR LISTEN !!

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀NIKO wasn't going to last much longer without some money , something to feed herself. And a merchant to pickpocket hadn't shown face in a while. It had to be done. You wouldn't find much in the grime-covered dumpsters of the slums , but if you traveled elsewhere and shifted through the rubble you'd usually find at least one thing to pawn off. It was a dangerous thing to go out , even the slums offers better protection to trash storms and getting sick from pollution than nothing at all , but what other choice did she have? She was going to starve if she didn't act , and nobody was going to save her.

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤIt was tedious work , finding a heap that hadn't been thoroughly picked clean of goods , but the farther out she wandered , she eventually stumbled across a promising pile , overflowing with things. Her hands were sore from sorting it all , pushing things aside and scrapping her fingers against jagged items and scraps. She pried off a large slate of metal buried under everything. A box was sticking out , stained with dirt and other things , a rough wood exterior and rusty hinges from being left outside. When Niko tugged it out , inside she found a plush cat , it's stitching barely holding it's limbs together and stuffing spewing out from a gash in it's neck , a long toothy grin staring up at her curious eyes. She took it into her grasp , delicate body limp , and yet somehow still its worn fur was soft. And for a brief moment , for the first time in her life , Niko felt something akin to what she imagine it'd feel like to have the sun seep through the clouds , warming your skin and instilling a feeling impossible to describe or capture in words. It was a stray... just like her. Maybe... it wouldn't be so bad if she kept this one thing.

" WE'RE ALL MAD HERE ° ︎᤻ᜓ ⋆｡˚ "

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀꫶᳝᳜᳝᳜᳝᳜৯ 𝗡𝗜𝗞𝗢'𝗦 𝗝𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗜

ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎⠀⠀⠀Featuring . . . niko's beloved cat friend and comrade , stitched back up and repaired by her ( CHISHA ) && her trusty box she keeps on her back , fashioning two rope braids as bag straps , serving as chisha's home and a place for safe keeping ( TREASURE CHEST ) !!

♥︎ᩙೃ CHISHA ᛝ chisha , inspired by the cheshire cat , was niko's first jinki. After niko brought them home and managed to find enough pieces to put him back together. No one knows what gender chisha is supposed to be , as the pronouns niko refers to them by changes almost every sentence , and no one bothers to question it anymore. While she can grow big and distort her size , chisha's true power comes from the bell on her neck. When someone hears it chime , they're sent into an in between state that warps their perspective of the world around them. Things shift in size and colors saturate beyond what most are used to. It's only in this state chisha can make themselves invisible , but only to those who are under his hypnosis. This power came about because niko would often use chisha as a source of comfort and a distraction from the real world around her.

♥︎ᩙೃ TREASURE CHEST ᛝ treasure chest , partially inspired by the rabbit hole , was niko's second jinki , which she grew attached to after keeping chisha in there for safety , sewing it as apart of chisha especially since she found the cat inside it originally. Niko carries it around almost always , whether on her back or in her arms. Treasure chest's power is mostly intertwined with chisha , being able to stay the same size but fit the plush no matter how big it grows. However , in the "wonderland" state , it can also fit anything chisha is holding , as long as it fits the permitters of its opening. This power came about because niko used treasure chest to transport and protect chisha , holding her dearest item.
