So i'm a lesbian and chronically single and my best friend is a lesbian and has a partner (also lesbian) and since they started dating it really feels like I have two lesbian parents who have an unwieldy socially awkward son who lives in their basement.

something I've found is that when my immediate reaction to a movie is "good but they were a bit heavy handed with the themes" often those are only surface themes. there's always more to be uncovered for the dedicated ruminators out there... the substance is not just about misogyny and the happening is NOT about environmentalism and most horror movies are not just a "metaphor for trauma".

Alot of people think the original Godzilla is just about the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and it is. But it's about more than that. Literally it's about reckless use of nuclear weapons in general, including those tested by the Japanese military itself. But me broadly it's about how humanity has a self destructive pursuit of the biggest and deadliest weapon of leaders can get their hands on, and how the fact that the only way anything has value is if it can be used to kill will be the inevitable death of our species. Nuclear weapons are the focus, but the message isn't purely limited to them. The film centers alot in the fictional oxygen destroy, a non nuclear weapon with similarly devastating capabilities for this reason.

The thing about ADHD is that the "lack of reward chemicals in your brain" doesn't just mean that you don't want to do any tasks that don't feel particularly yummy :(, it means that your brain will look at chores and tasks that need to be done like "doing this would be painful and tedious for absolutely nothing to gain from it, Do Not Do That." The same thing that your brain tells you about everything else that would feel really bad and hurt the entire time that you're dying. The part of your brain that stops you from doing the thing is the same part that keeps you from shoving your arm into a wood chipper.
