On the Way - Camilla Frederiksen , 2026
Danish , b. 1970s
Oil on canvas , 80 x 100 cm.
Hiiiii my last post died so I figured I'd try again.
This month has been really fuckin awful and I could really use help with some expenses.
In order of importance
I really really need help with this month's electric bill.
My cats have fleas. I desperately need help getting some higher caliber flea meds for them.
My laptop died. This is the only way I can make and sell 3d prints for some extra money.
By tossing a dime or passing the hat, you'd be helping an autistic queer enby and their trans girlfriend.
My links are

(Also thank you kind soul who donated last run around!!! If I get a functional laptop I can print u something, hit me up)
Also, please do not listen to how people talk about cover letters on this site. Cover letters are important, and in many industries you can be damn sure they'll be read. And no, they're not 'fanfic about working in your office', or just re-stating the resume contents in a fancier guise. If you treat them like that, then of course they're not doing much for you. That makes you sound like a syncophantic windbag, and it's not doing anything else to help.
I was trained in the dark arts of the cover letter by my mother, who is a hiring manager. And her training has paid off: I've been consistently told my cover letters are excellent. Let me pass on the wisdom.
The job of a cover letter is to give a prospective employer strictly more information than is on the resume. This is where you take the resume contents and put them into context. You look at the job requirements (you are looking at the job requirements before applying, right?) and look at your resume and ask the question (in your head) "why would a person think this candidate would be good for this job?" and your cover letter is the answer to that question. If you don't answer that question, the hiring manager is going to have to do it themselves, and you have way more information to work with than they do.
This is especially important if you're moving from one industry to another, because then the relevant connections aren't obvious. It's also very important if you're overqualified, because then you can use the letter to say "I know it looks like this job would be too entry-level for me, but I'm interested to pursue it for reasons x, y, and z". You can also use this space to explain away something that might otherwise be disqualifying, like job-hopping or a long break in employment. The tone to strike here is always matter-of-fact and constrained to topic - don't go into detail about health stuff or personal tragedy, just tell them what they need to hear: that this period of your resume was affected by [bad thing] but that it's now in the past and you're looking forward to the next chapter. Remember, one of the things they're trying to learn is whether you'd be content in this role, or whether you'd be miserable and leave after 2 months, which would force them to do all the work of hiring again. You're trying to establish that you will fit right in and not cause problems. Knowing what drew you to this job in particular (and don't just say 'money', that's true for everyone) helps with that.
And the other mistake? Everyone writes cover letters that are too long. One page is fine. Two is the absolute maximum, and that's if you have a lot of specific things to say. It's a waste of your time and theirs to pad it out with fluff. Of my two most recent successful cover letters (i.e. jobs for which I was interviewed) one was 390 words and the other was 550. That's the length of this post. How long did it take me to write this post? About 15 minutes to write, 5 to proof and edit. That's how long you should be spending on a cover letter, maximum.
For much more information, examples, advice:
Your cover letter is where you make a case for why you’d excel at the job, aside from what’s in your resume. A good cover letter can be the

just received the best text message I’ve ever had. from my mom
2 pics. no caption
We're auctioning off the guys' art of Lup and Barry's first kiss from yesterday's Clubhouse episode - all proceeds will go to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, auctions are open until 7/31!
this is one of my absolute favorite parts of tazgn tour!! it is so so so cool to get to see all four of their different approaches and even more wonderful to get to see everyone trying out new things since we last had Carey's Revenge a couple years ago for suffering game.
everyone was SUCH a good sport about me assigning straight-up one of the trickiest things to figure out an approach to drawing and everyone handled it beautifully!! comics are fun!! drawing is FUN!!!
Last year, I befriended a Catholic seminarian. We've gotten to be pretty decent friends. Seeing as he was staying in town for the summer and I wasn't, I entrusted him with caring for my plant.
He did a wonderful job, but as he was returning my plant to my custody, he explained "I watered her every other day, I gave her new dirt, moved her into the sunshine, prayed the rosary-"
"What?"
He looked at me, confused. "Isn't she a plant you pray with?"
"No," I said slowly. "She's a prayer plant. That's the... colloquial name of the plant."
Upon seeing his stricken face, I realized something went wrong. Turns out, this entire time, he's been including my plant in on his prayers and leaving her near icons.
Listen, totally cool. My plant becoming Catholic is a great deal for her not dying over the summer. But now I must navigate this interfaith household. Keep me in your thoughts.
#i love prayer plants but they're fussy so I don't keep them#can we have a picture op they're so pretty
Behold, Dorothea
(Naming my plant "Gift of God," and then giving her to a seminarian with just the explanation that it's a prayer plant? Okay, that's my bad.)
Oh my goodness she is so lovely and full! And she's flowering!! That's a happy maranta indeed

A few days ago you posted something about Co-Ed boxing and I just wanted to chime in, since reblogs were disabled (can understand why), I do coed kickboxing recreationally and the most badass, punchy, amazing players I have seen were women and girls, my crush actually won against 2 first degree blackbelts (She's a second degree). In general gender separation is kinda dumb and often in combat sports at a slightly lower level it is coed since there aren't enough girls and in my experience they kick ass half the time
Yes thank u, this is exactly what it's like
The notes on that post got real weird real fast. A lot of people really do believe that human sexual morphology is like Pixar moms and dads and that women are simply too frail and weak to do Sports good. As a women myself, I'm awed and appalled by the amount of self-loathing it takes for ppl to say that about themselves and call it feminism.
If I recall correctly (the story I learned),* women got banned from Major League Baseball after a teenage girl struck out Babe Ruth, and the men were afraid they'd be embarrassed if they let women play.
That was the feminist spin in the narrative, 35-40 years ago. I'm not exactly sure when it morphed into "We must protect the fragile girls!" But I'm gonna start where I usually do, and blame Reaganism (and the American "Left's" response of running headlong into the Center, dragging the whole Overton Window further to the right).
*From my mother, and from various history documentaries.
