hiiii i usually refrain from making text posts here but i wanted to quickly mention: my OCs are not for public use! they’re not for your roleplays, theyre not for you to copy and paste, and theyre not for your OC inspiration mood-boards. I’ve been seeing a lot of people tag my (sometimes extremely personal) original art with the names of their own OCs, commenting about how “this is just how i picture X looking!” If you really have these sentiments, keep them to yourself, please! I guarantee 90% of artists dont want to be told that their OCs remind people of their own OCs or of existing fictional characters. It’s not a compliment, I promise you.

someone in a server im in was asking for song suggestions for a boss battle and UGH once again I am yearning and missing being the cunty little DJ for my D&D games sooooo bad... i was so good at it man. DM for Persephone's game handed me the figurative aux cord and would let me control the tracks (he would still have overall control so he could swap to stuff I was unaware of obvs, like a surprise NPC or smth) and come up with the playlists.
I was so meticulous with it too, I had organized tracks into a ton of different specific moods and everything so that even if I wasn't actively DJing the DM could reliably throw on a playlist and it would always fit. And when I was DJing the DM could completely focus on running the game/RP and I could enhance the experience with really curated tracks down to being like "oh i know exactly what track would hit for this current rp scene"
and i liked to make my friends cry

AND ANOTHER THING
a lot of DMs I've had say they "curate" music for the experience but every single time it's just been that they have 3-4 of those "30 minutes of dark fantasy BGM" or "30 minutes of D&D battle music" videos. And like, DMs already do so much. I get it! No hate, those videos/playlists have a purpose!! The last thing a DM needs to worry about is changing the music before/after a scene, etc.
but you didn't curate it! don't stolen valor my shit 😤 you did not specifically pick out the theme songs for each NPC and the different towns and moods! you play the same boss battle songs for every boss battle! Your eyes glaze over when I try to talk about leitmotifs and how this guitar version captures a different emotion than the regular version of the song YOU DON'T GET IT ACTUALLYYYYYY 🤌🤌🤌

i am starting my 6th attempt at Curse of Strahd and I am excited (I'm playing Anya again!) but also tempering my expectations because one of the players in the group AI generates their characters, and while the rest of us all have 'serious' characters (and have expressed wanting a serious, mature tone), the first character he decided on was a fucking baby robot in a onesie and rattle.
after we brought up concerns to the DM, he deleted the AI slop of his robot and the next day replaced it with AI MODIFIED art (I was able to FIND the original art and artist, even, which feels even more insulting than just straight up generated) of a goblin with a trumpet named Snorkle Earflops

he allegedly works as an animator for dreamworks??? which. glad cams weren't on when introductions were made bc my jaw DROPPED and I wouldn't have been able to hide my utter disdain and full disrespect for this man bc what do you mean you're an INDUSTRY artist and you AI MODIFIED SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK. incredible. I mean even industry artists aren't immune, I'm fully aware, but it also tracks bc he was a really old dude.
anyways I and my other artist friend said that we don't want anything of ours (voice, artwork, writing) put through AI and he was pissy for the rest of session 0 while the rest of us were getting along GREAT, and then he left the campaign overnight.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.
That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.

*Finally* posting this portrait I painted of Strahd- or in our game, Strahdyana!
A super cool soul over on the Curse of Strahd subreddit pointed out that a slight shift in her name to Strahdanya would make it sound extremely close to the Russian word for suffering (Страдание, they said) for that sweet double meaning and if that's not the coolest fuckin thing?? So it's Duchess Strahdanya in our game now :v)
There was also talk of changing her surname to Von Zarovna for proper suffix reasons (-na being "daughter of"), but there's backstory reasons for not having that change in our case that I'll post about some other time. But I figured I'd mention it for those who want to also utilize female Strahd, aka Strahdanya Von Zarovna 🦇
made a refsheet for Anastasya before she died and came back as a revenant (and then died a bunch more times, got put in a life-size doll body and lost her memories), ft. her family's heirloom rapier, crest/emblem, and wedding ring (it has her wife's hair in it, and her wife's has Anastasya's hair in it). All of the flowers that are part of the embroidery panels on her dress are both symbolic to her/her family and also native to Barovia (based on nativity to analogous regions irl!) bc I'm insane <3
