Shaming people into taking better care of themselves doesn’t work. Making fun of them for not doing laundry as often as you think they should is just cruel.

You know one reason people may start falling behind in care tasks? Depression. You know something that can cause or worsen depression? Shame.

You’re doing fine. It’s okay.

Do what you can when you can and that’s fine.

But also, if there’s someone in your life that can help, please don’t let shame or embarrassment prevent you from seeking that help. If you genuinely can’t keep up with certain tasks, please consider asking a trusted person for assistance.

And don’t listen to anyone disparaging you. They don’t know your life. They aren’t in your shoes. They can’t understand the difficulties you face. And ultimately, your actions don’t effect them.

Do what you are able to do when you are able to do it. Seek help if you are able and need it. You’re doing your best and that’s all that matters.

#this!!#I resonate a lot with this #being ftm and disabled there's a lot I can't change that other ftm people do to pass #or gets recommended to me #binding is off the table with my back issues #plus the fact you can't exercise in most of them and being in a wheelchair sort of puts a wrench in that #I can't change my walking gait to swing my hips less #I'm on crutches and if I don't move my hips they lock up and I can't move properly #not to mention that it's painful #trans tape is also a good option for the chest #but applying and removing is exhausting when you have barely any energy to begin with #a lot of my behaviour or traits that “feminise” me are a direct result of my disability

I enjoy a joke about fucked up German fairy tales as much as the next nerd, but it's genuinely striking how often the source for the really fucked up stuff turns out to be "yeah, this is only in the Brothers Grimm version and doesn't appear in any extant oral tradition, and we're like 80% sure they added it themselves". To a large extent it's not German fairy tales that are fucked up, it's two specific German dudes.
