My mom has told me about this video multiple times. It seems to define parenting for her. I get it now.
Weeeeee
You’re completely correct. Out of my way, able-bodied losers. Fuck you.
It's called an EZRide+ and you can learn where to find them here. They're about $1100 US as of June 2026, but you might need to buy additional parts to attach them to your chair, depending on the style of chair.
Remember to put links to products like this, they're usually hard to find and a lot of people need to know they exist.
Taylor Swift: NHL's New Spokesperson Original post date: February 3, 2009
The NHL is kind of short on celebrity endorsers. Snoop Dogg has been an avid league supporter and Ducks fan and Christie Brinkley has done multiple commercials and appearances for the New York Islanders. Now, enter the newest addition, country music star Taylor Swift. Naturally, the commercial she filmed endorses the biggest country music city in the world -- Nashville. It's also kind of a neat concept. "Look what I brought home, ma! Can I keep her? Pleeeeease?"

You might be frustrated by the library never having a complete manga collection on its shelves at any given time, but the 12 year old checking out 14 volumes of One Piece at once is vital to the library ecosystem. He's like the sea otter keeping the kelp forest from being devastated by an excess of sea urchins.
To those curious some other keystone library species include:
—the retirees who’ve read more murder mysteries than I’ve had hot meals
—the paperback romance girlies (gender neutral) who check out every single bodice ripper the second it hits the shelves
—the dads very slowly making their way through a ‘1001 movies to see before you die’ list
—the one-man criterion collection who checks out like, three movies per day and brings them back the next. (TV series are only a minor roadblock.)
—kids who like Minecraft
---The new parents checking out 47 picture books for their 7 month old baby who clearly has nothing going on in their head except the Wii Sports Resort theme song
I suggest using your local library!

From the Nashville Zoo’s fb page! Here’s the petition, please please please take a moment to add your name (even if you’re not from Nashville!). If you are from Tennessee, contact your representatives and make it clear that the people do not want this data center. This is an AZA accredited zoo which is home to several species of critically endangered animals, we NEED to protect it. Make your voice heard!
Because people will pay attention to cute animals, here are some of the critically endangered/endangered species housed at the Nashville Zoo!
The Amur Leopard and Clouded Leopard (which recently celebrated its 50th cub born at the zoo!)
The Sumatran Tiger
The Red Ruffed Lemur and Ring-Tailed Lemur
The Cotton-Top Tamarin and White-Cheeked Gibbon
The Colobus Monkey and De Brazza’s Monkey
And the Mexican Spider Monkey!
Look at them!!!! Look at them and fight like hell to save them!!!!
Data centers have been recorded creating constant noise at a frequency outside the human range of hearing but which still causes severe issues. This could be even worse with animals that have more sensitive hearing than humans do.
We don't need to wait years to find out these things cause real harm to the communities near them, we have proof already.
This is my local-ish zoo. Please sign the petition if you can (and call your state reps if you're a Tennessean).
Data centers have a very limited lifespan but their consequences will be felt for generations.

Totally normal for a legitimate for-profit company to refuse to reclaim or stop running their products even after they're no longer being paid to do so. I'm sure it's very normal to just keep running your service for free when your contract's been terminated. Spending money to continue running cameras that supposedly no one is looking at is definitely not an indicator they are just run by the federal government to spy on everyone and only a wacko conspiracy theorist would think so.
Emily Wison, whose translation formed the basis for Nolan's version of The Odyssey, is brutal and unrelenting in her review of it.
As they say at the awards shows, I was humbled to learn that Christopher Nolan has read at least the first line of my...
All the food looks horrible!
Wilson also wrote a 14-post thread on Bluesky about it:
1. It's a fun action movie. A line that got cut but sums up some of my overall feelings: This Odyssey is not a rich, satisfying Homeric banquet, but sometimes in the heat, an ice-cold Philly water ice is all you want - even it's mostly sugar and food coloring, and makes no nutritional sense. 2. Adaptations can do whatever the creators want with the source material, and in many cases, the more they diverge from or push back against the original, the better. e.g. I love Wild Sargasso Sea (and I also love Jane Eyre). 3. It's also totally fine to use American actors and a diverse cast. The costumes/ armor/boats are a mess, but who cares? Homer is also a mishmash, and see point #2. 4. It's less fine to waste your expensive diverse cast by terrible screen-writing, giving them zero convincing characterization or attempt to make us care about the relationships, and tokenism. 5. Adaptations are often most successful when they make clear, courageous choices about what to leave out - so, for instance, the movie "The Return" seems to me both a much more radical departure from the original source, and also a more successful film. 6. Nolan tries to pack a lot of Incidents and Big Ideas into this film, but they do not seem to me to hang together coherently on the level of his own plot and the movie's constructed system of values. Instead, it's foisting a didactic point about Our Times onto the plot without integrating it. 7. The film centers Odysseus's guilt over his war crimes, but never shows us the POV of his victims, and instead glorifies the perpetrator for feeling bad about himself. I found this unsatisfying ethically and worse, imaginatively, because Damon's character is given only one moo 7. I liked Nolan's low-budget early films - have seen Memento 3 times - but I think the money is a trap. It's easier to suspend disbelief if the actors are less famous. The huge budget leads him to attempt grand jam-packed epics, when he's better at taut, very premise-y small films. 8. I wish I liked this film more. I tried very hard to like it. I also felt it was valid to write about why it didn't work for me - especially since so much of the coverage has been so very positive, and I'm hardly punching down. 9. By far my favorite thing in the film is Robert Pattinson's hilarious and sexy Antinous. If anyone ever wants to make a spin off TV series with Antinous risen from the dead to mess with other mythical households, I would be so there for it. 10. Whatever one thinks of the film as a work of art, it's doing some good in the world, by generating big conversations, bringing new audiences to the cinema, and new readers to ancient literature. I hope it helps save the humanities. 11. Was I too mean? Or not mean enough? I went through my first draft and tried to take out the snark. To quote the great poet: "Though much is taken, much remains... That which we are, we are." 12. Beyond anything about the film as a film, it was a terrible and entirely unnecessary choice to film the Trojan Horse sequence in occupied Dakhla, Western Sahara, without the consent of the indigenous population. Yes, it is Wide Sargasso Sea and yes, the Tennyson line is “though much is taken, much abides”. Many apologies and thank you for correcting. And thank you to all who read and engaged. I am very happy that some people respectfully disagreed with me, or had different feelings about the film from mine.

life pro tip: if you happen to be considering purchasing an LG TV or monitor, you possibly want to pick something else! and if you have an LG monitor that has not been plugged into anything in a while, you might want to leave it that way!
if you already have an LG monitor or TV or intend to buy one, you probably want to watch this video and keep an eye on gamers nexus for updates (or anyone else covering the LG spying situation):
posted july 16 2026
LG is doing some bad things. how bad? well. here are some very brief bullet points. I am not an expert, gamers nexus is, see the video for more information than this:
LG monitors (brand new and years old, cheap and expensive) auto-install LG's own adware-spyware called LG Monitor App onto windows 10 and 11 computers. you plug in an LG monitor for video output and this gets installed automatically. no hitting OK, no confirmation, no toggles, NOTHING.
the auto-installed LG Monitor App auto-grants itself access to your internet connection and ALL computer resources. the LG Monitor App has the ability to collect: geolocation data, device data, personal information, online activity data, contact data, and more!
...and it shows pop-up ads! because fuck you
on some affected versions of windows, auto-installed shitware like the LG Monitor App can be prevented by navigating to gpedit.msc -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> system -> device installation -> prevent automatic download of applications associated with metadata
...but, if your LG monitor already installed the LG Monitor App, this is like closing the barn door after the horse got out. and that horse has the logs of everything you were doing on your computer! someone stop that fucking horse!!!
unrelated to the LG Monitor App, many LG TV owners are now required to tell all household members and guests that their LG TV is recording and processing ALL nearby voices. or else they may be in violation of local eavesdropping and wiretapping laws. for owning a fucking LG TV.
plus, how many businesses, workplaces, public spaces use LG TVs?
allegedly the microphone spying can be turned off by disabling microphone features, but LG has been caught disregarding opt-out settings before.
LG TVs can record everything that happens on the TV, including the video output of connected devices like phones, computers, gaming consoles, anything that happens on the TV screen.
LG was sued for their spying, and as a result of that spying suit, now shows pop-ups saying oops! they got caught spying and intend to continue spying. thanks for buying LG!
as of when the video was posted, there was no list of every spying LG monitor or TV. but this stuff is getting rolled out to more and more LG devices, including those purchased years ago.
and that is the shortest summary I can make of this situation without just summarizing more of the gamers nexus video.
Update: We are working on a follow-up to the LG story and have some disturbing findings re: LG's products. It will take us a while to parse
⬆️posted july 23 2026
gamers nexus is fairly respected in technology journalism. they fly around the world investigating companies that fuck people over and have pressured major companies to make major changes over the years.
so for gamers nexus to say that this LG spying situation is both unprecedented in how uniquely bad it is in this era of spying, and that it gets even worse than their video where they already say to stop buying and using LG products while recanting every prior recommendation for LG products?
