Okay but honestly fucking shit like this when they show Zukoās scar side when talking about Sozin and then having the bar pass and have his non-scar side when Iroh says Roku is his great grandfather if EXACTLY the kind of shit that elevates this show to where really no other show has ever come and probably never will
But ALSO can we talk about the fact that every single shot of this conversation is framed so that we see Zuko through the bars but we always get a close-up of Irohās face with no bars in the frame because IROH ISNāT THE ONE IN A CAGE.

On the 50th Anniversary of Scooby-Doo let us celebrate the musical group of goddesses known as the Hex Girls (x)
i actually find this really funny because if iām not mistaken this is supposed to be a can of A&W root beer, and Japan HATES root beer Apparently itās a thing in Japan, itās like black licorice to them, no one likes it. medicine for kids has ingredients that make it taste kind of like what root beer tastes like so whenever they get root beer it tastes like medicine pretending to be a soda to them so itās like giving an american a huge bag of black jelly beans and labeling it āWhy would you put these death nuggets in your body you ridiculous loutā
*packs bags and heads to Japan to chug root beer as a street performance*
they must have some good tasting medicine then

Re: the last post, the article mentions that some places use clams to test the toxicity of the water. Itās like that in Warsaw- we get our water from the river, and the main water pump has 8 clams that have triggers attached to their shells. If the water gets too toxic, they close, and the triggers shut off the city water supply automatically.Ā Ā
The clams are just better at measuring the water quality than any man-made sensors.
Edit: check out this documentary trailer :Ā https://vimeo.com/408820791
God Bless Our Troops
They hot glued a spring to a clam and gave it full control over the water supply
āinbreeding is badā is a controversial take in dog world
golly jee whilikers why is it that this dog breed rarely lives more than six years before its stomach catches fire and its spine turns into mint jelly? no I wonāt consider outcrossing. it would compromise the integrity of the breed.
People who are in self quarantine really have no idea how weird it is to be a base level essential worker through this whole thing. I donāt mean a doctor or a nurse or someone else working round the clock to put a stop to it or find a cure. I mean a truck driver or a gas station attendant or a retail clerk. Because everything is basically normal, only a little bit off, and then again not as off as it should be.
Every day I get up. I go to work. I sell people things. There are fewer people coming through and theyāre buying more because theyāre stocking up or they havenāt been shopping in a month, but there are still lines, like always. Thereās plexiglass between the cashiers and the customers, and no dividers, and we have to continually yell at people not to put their items on the belt until weāve finished the previous transaction, and they ignore us or argue with us, same as always. The more rules we have, the more rules there are for people to ignore. And the longer it goes on, the more normal it gets. Pretty much no one thanks us for coming in to work anymore. People are starting to act like we should never, ever run out of an item. Itās just blanket assumed that we will have hand sanitizer and soap and toilet paper and people are shocked when we say weāre out.Ā But there are still ads on the TV in the break room telling us all to stay home and the more the customers ignore social distancing, the more management puts pressure on us to set a good example, until weāre expected to follow standards that are physically impossible.
The longer this goes on, the less āessentialā I feel.
And then I come home and get online as always and there are all of these people asking what youāre doing while youāre stuck in quarantine and coming up with fun things to do when youāre in quarantine and talking about what youāre going to do when this whole thing is over and you can finally, finally leave your house. Everyone just seems to assume that you, the person reading their words, are in quarantine, because everyoneās in quarantine. Itās like this big, international, universal experience that youāre not a part of.
It feels like fifteen years from now everyone in the world will be looking at each other and asking āRemember what it was like to be cooped up in the house? Wasnāt it awful?ā and Iāll just be sitting there going āā¦ā¦.no, I donāt. I didnāt do that.ā And people will look at me and wonder how I could not know.
This makes me think of a conversation I had with some retired older relativesāthey were like, āI donāt understand whatās the big deal with ending official lockdown. If people arenāt comfortable going out then they can just not go out.ā And I had to be like, the essential workers??? Canāt just choose not to work??? Or they will be fired????????
cus of covid im working half home half at the office and im actually making more money now. I feel bad that Im not really impacted by covid when others are losing their jobs or having to stay in, or even possibly deal with illness. I feel lucky to have the very niche job I have of course, and im so glad I wont have to find a new one, but other than working extra time at home my life has barely changed, and really only changed for the better which is very weird to feel when other peoples lives are drastically tanking.
boy oh boy sure am glad that during this crisis I get to experience Capitalist Plenty
and not Socialist Deprivation
rlly makes u think
hahahahahaha!!!!!!!! 50 years on and Vietnam is still beating Americaās ass !!!!!!!!!!
You know how china lies?
Vietnam does the same shit.
I live in vietnam and the number is actually that low lmao vietnam has closed down schools and universities and started online learning since feb. they have praticed social distancing and lock down for 20 days now. The government literally spent billions to put tourists in quarantine for free to health check them everyday for fourteen days to make sure community spread doesnāt happen. Theyāre willing to risk the economy as long as the people are safe. Like you do know vietnamese people have access to the internet right???
Population differences you people, America has significantly more people total
wow youāre such a genius, if only there were statistics for the number of cases per million people so we could scale it to population size, such as here:
can any mathematicians tell us whether 3 or 3,379 is the larger number? can any number wizards help us out on that one
and you DIDNāT hear a peep out of us bc this community knows what itās like to let a virus go unchecked and for the government to not give a single shit

Our current landlady is the very image of one of those landlords whoād be spared the guillotine.
Sheās an older, polite, maternal (white, middle class) woman who just happened to have enough money to buy a spare house, and is renting it to top up her pension. She reads The Guardian and asks after my family and does the occasional repair when necessary. Sheās not one of those evil landlords.
She also just repeatedly lied to our faces about our contracts to try to get us to forfeit most of the rights we have as tenants. She also visits frequently, criticising how we live and reminding us that our home belongs to her. She also condescendingly and unnecessarily explains to us how boilers and washing machines and carpets work.
She explains to us how renting works.
She explains it with an indulgent smile, like a grandmother talking to a child, as if sheās being terribly patient about correcting our misunderstandings.
And she lies.
She lies because as much as she wants to convince us, everyone else, and even herself that sheās a good person, our entire relationship is based on the power she holds over us. She uses her wealth and position in society to extort payment from us, who have nowhere to live. We sacrifice to her the majority of the income we spend our lives earning, just so we can have a roof over our heads. But any time we donāt show proper deference to her, she could have us out on the street in weeks or months. Weād lose our home, because to her it is merely an asset which in no way belongs to us, the people who live there.
Today she repeatedly lied to us about our contract, and about the law, because she wanted us to have the minimum legal power possible. If I didnāt organise with a local tenantsā union, I wouldnāt have known my rights. And if I didnāt have the security of being a member of that union behind me, I never would have had the guts to challenge her. My housemate had no idea she was lying, and would have trusted her, signing away what few rights we had under the law.
As part of this tenantsā union, Iām always fighting with the worst landlords - the ones who keep people living in squalor, the ones with a dozen properties, the ones who are violent and abusive. But today has reminded me that even the āniceā landlords are still scum.
A genuinely good person who has enough spare money to buy a spare house (which is a lot of money! they wouldnāt need more!) would just let people who need a home live there, not bleed them of their income for the privilege of a warm place to sleep.
Never trust a landlord.
But more importantly, join a tenantsā union, and take back the power they hold over you. It was one of the most empowering things Iāve ever done.
In London, I recommend London Renters Union.
In Scotland: Living Rent.
In the rest of the UK: ACORN.
+ there are tenantsā unions all over the world, and housing co-ops where everyone who lives there part-owns their home and thereās no landlord to answer to
