The holiday season is celebrated in many ways, in many different countries.

Same, but different: some moments/elements unique to the Vegas production (note that this is not at all a complete list).  1. The chandelier consisted of four giant pieces hanging in mid air at the Auction scene. During the Overture all of these started rotating around the auditorium, eventually coming together and forming a chandelier. Because of the sound of the wire motors, the Overture was LOUD.  2. In the mock operas, there were no false boxes sliding in from the sides. Instead the auditorium had permanent false boxes next to the proscenium. This was based on the Palais Garnier auditorium, though neither of the large boxes next to the stage there is box 5.  3. The mirror in Christine’s dressing room had gotten an updated effect. It had big lamps on either side. These started to blink, and the regular mirror plate was replaced with one with Christine’s cut-out-silhouette. She walked through this, and the original mirror plate slide back. This would have been an awesome effect had they not drowned the room in mist…  4. Another updated mirror effect was that the Mirror Bride came crashing through a “solid” glass plate. In effect it was like several “cracked” doors opening.  5. The Il Muto set was extended, to compensate for the lack of false boxes. Alas they choose a hideous cartoon Rococo style  6. The chandelier didn’t crash after AIAOY, as it was a one-act show and they wanted to save the climax for later in the show. Instead they had the Phantom (a double) appearing hanging from the chandelier, threatening Christine.  7. Another thing compensating for the moved chandelier crash was that the Phantom’s curse and lighting turned into New Year’s Eve fireworks and a huge replica of the Palais Garnier facade came up through the floor. 8. Similar to Il Muto, the mock opera Don Juan Triumphant also got an extended set to compensate for the missing false boxes. It was in large the same as the original design, but with a richer stone castle like construction in a pseudo Romanesque style, and an additional chandelier. 9. Raoul was caged instead of being caught in the magical lasso. This was apparently an idea Maria Bjørnson had for the original, but it was dropped because it was too technically advanced. 

I probably shouldn’t tell them what happened in the opera boxes then huh.

Ditto for that time with hotel security next to the elevator banks.
