Here’s some advice: if all you can do with your mother is go see a movie and laugh, then do more of that! Don’t sit around harping on the fact that you can’t have a serious conversation with her because that robs you of the moments the two of you could be bonding. This morning me and my daughter had a moment and if I’m honest we had a moment last night as well. She’s growing up, her personality has taken shape and right before my eyes-she becoming a little lady. • • All I want is what’s best for her. I want to usher her into womanhood gracefully and tastefully. I want her to understand that cleanliness is next to godliness. I want to teach her to be great. I want her to know that her flaws don’t define her but nor does her strengths because what matters is her soul. The deep dark part-where God dwells. I want her core to be sweet, behind her smiles her please and thank You’s. I want to show her how important it is to leave a trail of glitter everywhere she goes... • • Then I thought, this is probably what my mom meant when I told her she was ruining my life being hard on me unnecessarily. She may have had a little more rage in her voice when she scolded me but I realize, my passionate words may not roll off my tongue as pleasant either. • I swear I hope she knows I love her, it would crush me if all this caring is ever perceived as anything less.... dang I sound like my mother... but I’m different... nope I’m not... This morning was different. Soon as I got the kids off to school I called my #mom and wished her a #happyvalentinesday and it felt sooo good for her to say it back to me as I could hear the love ❤️ in her voice.
