How is Boop not evidence? It’s true that it’s extra material, something that isn’t in the show proper. But unless you have paperwork or a written statement or some video from some rooster teeth member (that actually gets to make decisions regarding rwby) saying that boop isn’t canon, then it is.

If you mean that the song itself does not explicitly state that it’s about Ren and Nora, then you’d be wrong.

Here are some lyrics of the song that I think are quite relevant.

1)“Hold Magnhild, I think I’m gonna faint”

I shouldn’t have to explain this first part. Magnhild is Nora’s weapon. Who the hell else would have the weapon in their possession.

2) “I just bite my tongue and when I want to say I love you I say, Boop.”

Well we know this is about Nora AND Ren now. Because the only person who has said “boop” is Nora. And who she said it to was Ren.

If you’re looking for evidence that is not Boop, then we’ve got this from Nora’s side. From a post of mine:

Like seriously if I was writing two characters that were only meant to be platonic, I would never write a scene like that. The implication of those words are too strong.”

I can understand feeling fuzzy about Ren’s side of this, as he is quite quiet and subtle. But to quote myself again from this post:

Jaune asks “Well, how did you and Nora… y'know…” He clearly thinks that Ren and Nora are a thing (when the oblivious guy can figure this out u have a problem). Ren picks up on this quickly. And you know what he does? He in fact does not, calmly correct Jaune like a person that has no attraction to their friend would do. He stammers. Lie Ren. The basic epitome of cool and collected, stammers like an idiot. Umm whaAT?? He never directly responds to Jaune’s question. Nora does it (with another use of “not together-together”) And after that, he changes the subject! (”Jaune, what is this all about?”). Why would he do that if he only had platonic feelings for Nora? There’s literally no reason for it unless….. maybe….? He has…Romantic feelings for Nora….????”

If you don’t like renora as a ship, that’s fine. You don’t have to like it.

Because it’s about framing and context.

Sun’s wink is accompanied by a slow-mo pan of his expression, followed by the camera focusing on Blake’s slack-jawed attention, along with a literal choir singing in the background while she stares at him. This is his introduction— to Blake, but more importantly, to the audience. This is the first moment we properly meet him, and it’s through this very particular gaze.

Yang’s wink is precipitated by her trying to convince Blake to come to the dance for her own mental and physical well-being. There’s no attention given to any other motivation on Yang’s part during the exchange, or what Blake’s reaction was following.

One of these has clear romantic intent. The other does not. If I were to present these two scenes to a random bystander and remove the names from the samples, and if I asked them to tell me which scene they thought was meant to be a romantic one, my guess is that they would go with the Sun and Blake scene. Because again, it’s about the framing of the scene, and the context of the situation the characters are in.

I say that Yang’s wink is dubious evidence at best, because I acknowledge that it can technically be read as romantic— but a.) it’s extremely covert, and only noticeable if you’re looking at it to find romantic evidence in the first place, and b.) I’m highly doubtful that was the writers’ intent in the first place.

I see nothing romantic in Blake and Yang’s relationship, the wink doesn’t change thatAs for the but yang was the one who helped blake in v2  Sun, well, there are things that he just can’t do. If anything I’d expect people to appreciate that he respects Blake’s boundaries. She said no, so he took it on the chin and walked off to not bother her againIf he kept going after Blake, the same people would be calling him a creep.

and people are already complaining about blake and ruby not having conversations/moments can you imagine the reaction to blake and yang not having a moment till v3 ( also the moment also served to explore yangs character)

i just wanted you know that i’m quite thankful for the kind words for vendetta, because all i see is REALLY bad faith criticism regarding vendetta (which is rooted in misogyny tbh)

and sure, i DO believe that we could’ve gotten more from her foreshadowing-wise. there is so many heros that players have beef or glaze SO MUCH about, or just forget (salute to pharah. not to her voice actor tho)

but, HOLY MOLY do i see like, videos either calling ven a mary sue, or even worse, calling her racist.

I can sympathize with the Doomfist glazers, I really can. From a doylist perspective, he's been fucked over by Blizzard's terrible writing for ten whole years, hyped endlessly but never actually allowed to be the main villain of modern Overwatch's story. For him to then be suddenly "killed off" in a cinematic and then talked about as the thing that held Talon back? Yeah, if I was a Doomfist fan, I'd be a little sore about it.

But from a watsonian perspective?? I fucking LOVE that Doomfist fell victim to his own complacency! Delicious dramatic irony! His whole philosophy is "only through conflict do we evolve"- and that evolution is spurred by losing. Constantly winning, constantly sitting on your assets in anticipation of the next battle, that's what causes stagnation. Jumping back to metatextual themes real quick- Overwatch as a game fell victim to stagnation, so "killing" Doomfist off is a really powerful declaration that the current writers are willing to actually take risks and upset the status quo.

We know Doomfist isn't dead. You'd have to be downright delusional to believe that Doomfist is actually dead. For one, he's still in the game. Duh. But most of all? Dude fell off a ledge. In a universe where people get cybernetically dragged back from the dead, or survive explosions that level buildings. If anything, I'm thrilled to see how Doomfist's next evolution manifests- will he rise to his own challenge? I would even argue that this is Doomfist's chance to finally show what he's really all about rather than staying locked in the role he's been trapped in since old Overwatch.

Vendetta did Doomfist a favor. I even think he'd say that to her face. This is the guy who was delighted when he learned an 11 year old in Numbani was building a robot with the express goal to kill him. I hope he's allowed to welcome this challenge as well.

Diving into the more controversial meta stuff- people calling Vendetta racist is fucking insane because in the same breath those people will hypersexualize Mauga and Doomfist, ignore Baptiste, ignore Sierra, call Sojourn useless and boring, etc etc etc. not to mention their lack of awareness of Blizzard's habit of lightening character's skin tones (Symmetra, Cassidy, Emre. . .). Like Vendetta taking down Doomfist might be some poor writing but it's certainly not racist.

And Vendetta being a Mary Sue? As if we don't all stan one Emre Sarioglu, tortured tragic backstory man who's not like other girls because he's involved with the """real""" villain of the story, and who *gasp* isn't really at fault for his crimes, and who wields crazy powerful but dramatically uncontrollable powers, and every character remembers him so fondly or at least respects him even though he's hardly ever been mentioned before in the lore until now. . . Emre is 100% "Mary Sue" material and I'm not shy about admitting it! I love having fun! I love angst-ridden characters who are overly integral in shaping the plot! But if Emre had been a woman and Freja had been a man, can you imagine the backlash?? People would be calling it downright "woke", I bet.

Because he has done his best to make sure that Octavia had a normal life. But that also probably means that he hid a lot of things from her. However, due to her position, he can’t always protect her from the realities of it all. She will also likely be in an arranged marriage. She won’t be kept out and away from the politics her family is involved in forever. It will all come crashing in on her and it won’t be pretty. Hell! Finding out that Stolas HAD to make an heir will likely already hurt like hell because then she will wonder if he ever wanted her. It’s just like his relationship with blitz: not saying the things that NEED to be said and discussed except after it all blows up. If he wants to avoid Octavia finding out the truth the hard way with no input from him, then he’ll have to tell her. But I’m thinking that a falling out with her may wind up being the reason he sees his own faults: that he’s not fully open to those he loves and would rather put up a front or talk about something else than actually talk about the real issues at hand or be fully open about his feelings and what is truly going on with him. A good example is the time at Loo Loo Land when he stopped himself from admitting that he was never in love with Stella. Sure, Octavia may have had questions but he could have answered them all and comforted her. It also would have been an opportunity to talk about the fact that she may also have to be put into a political marriage as well and perhaps make plans to either avoid it as long as possible or pair her with someone she at least gets along with.

It’s also not emotionally healthy in the first place to go to an annual party about hating your ex, either. I feel like that’s only validating that one side of that relationship was bad while completely ignoring what shitty values those people had that made them wind up with Blitz in the first place and also blind them to the crap they might have pulled on him that also wasn’t okay.

Someone like Blitz will also date shitty people while also being shitty, too. Not all of them were shitty but I bet a portion of them were. Stolas wasn’t that great, either. Remember that he did come on way too strongly to where it was essentially sexual harassment, acted like he cared more about the sex in the first place instead of a genuine relationship, did not try to defend their relationship while at Ozzie’s and hid his face in shame, and all while he’s calling Blitz ‘Blitzy’ at best and his ‘impish little plaything’ at worst. He may not have been directly trying to demean Blitz but he still was making comments about him being an imp or infantilizing him because he’s little.

Some of those people at that party could have been downright physically and/or emotionally abusive to Blitz. Then they go to the party and then blame Blitz for everything. Because, when you’re in a room full of people who hate the same person you do, why wouldn’t you blame him? Don’t get me wrong, Blitz did need to see what his actions had done. But those people also need to move on with their lives because some of the people in that room may not have been that great in the first place and… really, the more that time goes on, the more you realize that one shitty ex doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things. Especially since, for there to have been that many people, he probably didn’t date them for long, either. Some of them may have only been with him a few days or months. Verosika is only giving them a reason to hold on longer and ignore where they all might have been wrong, either for issues from those relationships or ignoring their own shitty values they had that made them get into that relationship in the first place. She might be helping people who are just as shitty or even shittier than Blitz without knowing it. What if it turns out that that incubus guy Stolas was making out with used to beat the shit out of Blitz? But because Verosika was only focused on inviting his exes, she ignored the fact that some of them may not have been good people either.

And for God’s sake, verosika also needs to stop hosting that party. All she’s doing is giving all of those people a reason to hold onto that relationship and make it harder to move on. It’s also giving them all an empty, superficial, high based on hating someone and that is only going to eat them all from the inside out. She is not helping those people. She’s hurting them AND herself. Also, why tf was she keeping track of his exes in the first place? Christ! It’s like she’s using his exes to feed her hatred of him even more. She’s getting some sort of pleasure from it. So it’s not hard to see how Verosika wasn’t a good person to date, either. She is holding him responsible for her feelings.

Blitz may have hurt her and he is responsible for that but it’s her responsibility to move on and make herself feel better. Instead, she’s leaning into her negative feelings because she’s using it to get an emotional high from it rather than moving on. And she surrounds herself with his exes so she can get them high, too, and feel validated about the fact that she does it. But that’s just it: hating blitz is just another high. It’s not fixing anything. It’s just another drug that will slowly destroy her and whoever else she invites to that party from the inside out. If it wasn’t a high, there’d be no point in having a party about it. Only a few people were crying at that party. Most were laughing and having a good time all while ripping up or throwing knives at things that looked like Blitz. You can only hope that after he genuinely apologized to Verosika and showed that he wants to change that she’ll finally let go and move on. Because trying to ride a high from hating him, if she took his word, will feel pointless and shitty… even though it kinda always was.

It does seem idealistic that the girls can take breaks, it does seem ideal that the girls have supportive fans who respect their rest time, it does seem ideal that Rumi can cancel when her voice fails, it does seem ideal that they have a manager that takes care of them, feeds them, and loves them like family, it does seem ideal that Huntr/x has absolutely no fear of a dating scandal. There’s so many things shown that are ideal because maybe they SHOULD be allowed to have it that way. This movie is going to bring light to the harsh realities K-pop stars go through by showing what they normally wouldn’t be allowed to have without having to blatantly say it. The fans are saying the quiet part out loud for the people who created this. The toxic K-pop fans will probably be shouting their toxic views from the rooftops and the new fans this movie brings? They will be asking why can’t it be different.

Yes, there’s some things that I can understand criticizing like the dis-track against the Saja Boys or Rumi having most of the singing parts, but I have a feeling those are for storytelling purposes. For one thing, Rumi ultimately decides against the distrack because she was uncomfortable with it (and it wound up to the public looking like Zoey and Mira wrote it to use against her for a public band break up instead of anything against the Saja boys). It ultimately was agreed upon by the real group that it was a bad idea and not what they wanted to stand for.

Rumi being a ‘favorite’ also seems to be for storytelling purposes. In the beginning, it’s stated by a fan in the movie that Celine built Huntr/x around Rumi. Celine probably wanted Rumi to shine brightest as a way of ‘covering up her patterns’ while also keeping alive the memory of Rumi’s mother. Also, the amount of voice time she gets also seems to partially play into the symbolism of Huntr/x’s cohesion. Remember, music is an art form and it’s painting a picture for us. The Saja Boys are pretty much the picture of K-pop golden standard on stage while Huntr/x is rather imperfect next to them. So it’s not like the people who made this movie don’t know what an ideal K-pop group is ‘supposed to be’. Huntr/x are who they are by design. Rumi, at the beginning and throughout most of the movie, has ‘walls’ so making her a ‘favorite’ is a way of showing how she’s walled off from her team. At the end, she’s still the dominant voice but as more of a way to emphasize and highlight her character development. The team still isn’t 100% yet because character development like that means the group’s whole dynamic changes and that takes time to figure out. But I can’t help but wonder if they will equalize vocals more in future movies. Because I genuinely think that their amount of vocals is supposed to help tell a story. Either way, it’s definitely deliberately done.

I’ve seen a few people say that Bakugo looks depressed in the final chapter and… well, yeah, he would be a very depressed person. He grew up since Age 5-6 believing he was better than everyone. Now, that may not sound depressing on paper but once someone starts thinking that way, they engage in behaviors to constantly try proving to themselves or others that they’re the best. He started valuing being better than everyone. That means he grew up constantly feeling the need to prove that unrealistic value he chose for himself. And because it’s an unrealistic expectation to have, he probably constantly had it challenged and proven wrong over and over and over again. He literally chose a value that screwed him over for most of his life because then he goes from feeling that it might be true to constantly having to prove to himself that it has to be true or else he’s nothing if it’s not. He’s essentially chosen a value that made him feel inadequate all the time. That doesn’t justify him being a narcissistic jerk, of course, but this is what happens when someone has crappy values.

But in these shots, he’s calmer. He’s not trying to prove anything to anyone… but having spent ten years of his life trying to overcompensate for feeling inadequate, especially when most of those years were his childhood, that mindset doesn’t just go away. He likely still struggles with trying to feel like he’s good enough. He seems to have a sad vibe. He is probably still a very depressed person once you strip away all the anger and arrogance.

She had to go through with killing those men but she did it in the most merciful way she could think of. She was never a heartless killer. She was probably a good killer because of her heart because she was likely compassionate to her victims. I bet she had the same plan as Brom when she met him; charm him and when the moment is right, go in for the kill. But what likely happened was that 1. She could make a deal with Brom that would likely save Murtagh by hiding him among the Varden and 2. She fell in love with him.

Please take my analysis with a grain of salt, I still haven't watched an Overwatch animated short for a long time, including "Reign of Talon", and I'm afraid to get disappointed with the execution. :-(

This is a fantastic idea. I can be onboard with it.

However, I personally find the idea that he actually lost more compelling. Mostly because I love to see characters brought low and forced to adapt- and adapting through conflict is kinda Doomfist's entire thing. It's going to be immensely interesting to see if he sticks with his philosophy after actually tasting the kind of defeat he constantly professes that others should rise from.

You could argue that he already was defeated when he was imprisoned, but I don't think he ever really saw that as a defeat- he always had a timeline on getting out. But his defeat by Vendetta? I want to see him consider whether or not to fight for his old empire. And I think there's plenty of room for him to scheme in this space- does he wait and let Vendetta take out Overwatch first? Is he anticipating her downfall, perhaps at the hands of a subordinate? At what point does he go in guns blazing to retake the throne? Should he even retake that throne, or is it a matter of pride that even he can't ignore?

Extra super bonus points would be for his loss to Vendetta causing him to open up his eyes and realize there's other players in the fight for global control besides Overwatch in Talon. In being shaken from his spot at the top of the world, I want him to gain a new perspective. TL;DR: this is the perfect chance to get him involved in The Conspiracy, I swear to god. I just think it'd be really cool.

Doomfist as a character is a lot more subtle with his strategy, the thing that took down Overwatch wasn't a big fight, but espionage, building mistrust, infiltration. Overwatch crumbled from the inside. Meaning for a storyline where Talon are the major antagonists, where they go out of their way to fully, unashamedly go after Overwatch. Doomfist cannot be the one in charge. Vendetta is the perfect leader for this because she's all for going for the fight instead of the long con.

Think of it this way, Vendetta makes a strategy for the fight, Doomfist uses the fight as a strategy.

Rich people shit is when the other teachers kids and I breezed through school with high GPAs because all of our peers had so much money that they never had to care about getting into a good university or having careers or budgeting or anything, so they never tried.

Rich people shit is when youre invited to a little get together on the weekends and get told to bring an overnight bag because their definition of a little get together is an overnight yacht trip. And then you get there and find out that your middle class definition of what's needed for an overnight trip is VERY different from a rich persons definition of the same thing: you have some pajamas, clean underwear, toothpaste, and some soap and face wash, maybe some moisturizer. They bring half their wardrobes and designer personally-commissioned serums that cost more than your house and then tell you that youre "just so quaint."
