Squeeeeee! Look at me all color coordinated! 😷 1. If you need to wear a mask, you can still express yourself since so many things that are "us" and our identities have been taken away or put on hold. 💜💗💜 2. Be visible if you're forced (as I am) to run on roads or back on trails where not many people are likely to be, for your own safety. 🧡💛💚 I especially love that the masks are bright and also complement my hats! 3. Sometimes the little things make you smile. We need to look for those now more than ever while being safe and healthy, protecting ourselves and those around us. Who knew, these masks are FUN! 😜 4. Be comfortable! First impression review, the masks from @keapeak are REALLY soft inside, easy to fit and I LOVE that they can be looped over the hat. Sometimes masks really aggravate the backs of my ears, especially since I wear glasses. (So there's a lot going on with my ears already!) But I can unclip the back of the hat and loop the mask through it and it becomes one whole unified thing. So cool. 5. Yes I can breathe! Yes... I could easily run with these on. Thanks Abby/Kea Peak. 👏🏃‍♀️👏 Pandemic or no, I'll be running all year in these! I have REALLY bad outdoor allergies and I realized as I've been wearing one for almost an hour now just outside on my deck, it's keeping me from breathing in all the pollen... And in the summer, I won't be inhaling bugs! So I'll be using these and definitely getting more. I don't know why I never thought of that before, actually. Usually I wear a buff for the bug issue but this is so much better! It's cooler for one thing, and I don't feel suffocated. I love my buffs but they can be too hot in the summer. These masks are perfect! All my hats and the masks are for sale on Kea Peaks website, but you might have to keep checking in for masks. My absolute fave photo from my trail run today. Where else can you get a photo like this, experience a moment this special except for on a trail?! 6.3 miles of absolute beauty, blue sky, clean air and sun today. 🏃‍♀️❤️ This is one of the best parts of the McDade trail... Where the trail curves around and through a big pine forest. It smells amazing, the sunlight through the trees is utterly magical. I stopped for a coffee on the way home and the guy at the window said "have a blessed day". I wanted to say "thanks, I already have". 😊 Days like this I'm so grateful for the ability and determination to be a trail and ultra runner. People think it's so hard, crazy, whatever...but the rewards are worth all the effort in my humble opinion. It's a great thing when you get more out of it than what you put in. Today was one of those days. It wasn't about speed, I slowed down and took so many photos. My new sunrise/sunset alarm clock next to my bed. Ok, so I'm a little late... This sunset for me is at 11:45pm. 🤭 oops. LoL There are also rain sounds playing on it and the light fades out gradually over whatever time I set (10 mins, 30...however long I want it to) In the morning it'll fade up to a sunrise and I think I set the sounds to wind chimes. Once awake, I'll spend 15 minutes again with the other light therapy lamp I posted earlier today. 🔆 I really can't believe how much I accomplished today and nothing else was different except for spending 15 minutes in front of that light...so we shall see! Day 2 tomorrow. Roots gone wild! This is only 4 days growth. I'm forcing Paperwhite Narcissus and also amaryllis bulbs for my November 13th presentation on holiday plants at our county extension office 🌱 I normally would never start them this early...it feels so odd! 50 years old, 4 years on, 4 Oktoberfest 5k races in Bethlehem PA, 2016-2019 and counting! 😁 When I began in 2016, I had only run one 5k and was just starting my road to major weight loss and getting control of my health back. (2016 pic) I honestly thought I was going to die... In the far right photo, I was barely shuffling along to the finish line. I was almost twice the size (16/18 down to 8 and had lost over 50 lbs. by 2017!) This past year I took a break from running to focus on yoga. Now I'm bringing my loves together. It's been an interesting experiment to see how ONLY doing yoga all year showed in my race results. Interestingly, even without cardio training, I finished only 32 seconds slower than I did in 2018, and I felt BETTER the whole time. I can't overstate how beneficial yoga is for runners. I can't wait to see what I can do now with even more tools at my disposal. I have said "I can't do yoga without running and I can't run without yoga" and that's truer today than ever before. 🥰 This is a GOOD day. I chose my @inknburn Raven outfit for today because as I said in a previous post, nevermore will I let comparison get to me. I can't. It IS the thief of joy. I let it get to me to the point where it stopped me from doing what I love. This isn't about what ANYONE else is doing. I run for me. I do yoga for ME. I love sharing it with others, but it has to be for me first... otherwise, why even do it?! "Just do it", but do it for you. Then it lasts.
