Defintiely not perfect, debatably peak, but great all the same.
As someone who got through the first seven episodes yesterday and watched the finale with The Last Act (no spoilers, I promise), I had a good time. The series overall had its ups and downs, it wasn't always for me, but there was plenty there that I thought, "dang, I vibe with this."
For whatever it's worth, I think the ending stuck the landing. Very bittersweet, very cathartic. I'm glad it ended the way it did.
I hope Gooseworx takes a long, well-deserved break, and that her next project's fanbase treats her better than this one did.
Can't wait to binge it all when Episode 9 gets on YouTube.
Again the safest best is to specificaly say "I am invoking my right to have an attorney present" and then "I am invoking my right to remain silent" and then DO NOT SAY ANOTHER W O R D
Also remember: If they have not read you your rights, you have a legal loophole that could get you acquitted.Â
Remember if they have read you your rights. If they have not, you have been illegally detained and can tell your lawyer this when they arrive. Tell them âThey have not yet read me my rightsâ, or if they delayed until the precinct to read your rights, tell them this too. Anything you say before your rights are read to, but after you were detained, becomes inadmissible to a court of law. If they have read you your rights and you asked for a lawyer however, things you say before the lawyer arrives ARE admissible, so say NOTHING AT ALL. Â
You are also entitled to more than one phone call. Hollywood has taught you that you get âone phone callâ and if you didnât call a lawyer then you no longer get the lawyer. YOU DO. You get more than one phone call, and if you ask for a lawyer they legally cannot continue trying to question you.Â
IF YOU ARE A MINOR: They are also required to have a social worker present.
INVOKE SILENCE. INVOKE A LAWYER.Â
These are not things âguiltyâ people do, these are things that protect you. You have rights. Remember:Â

âŚthem not ending up together isnât the problem.
Horikoshi taking the âleave it up to interpretationâ approach and then proceeding to COMPLETELY AVOID ADDRESSING their relationship status is the problem.
Horikoshi failing to tie up that one last loose end for Urarakaâs character arc (not closing off her feelings) is the problem.
Again, I ship IzuOcha. Still do, because Iâm stubborn. Would I have liked for them to end up together, even if it was only a somewhat blatant implication that could be handwaved? Obviously. But you know what? Maybe I would be upset if the story went out of its way to explicitly de-confirm any chance of Midoriya and Uraraka being a romantic pairing, but Iâd at least respect it and understand it a lot more if the story let Midoriya and Uraraka actually talk about this, or at the very least SHOWED US them talking about this. Iâd understand if Uraraka completed her character arc by having a heart to heart with Midoriya and telling him that her feelings have changed, her priorities have changed, and Midoriya understands and they remain good friends. Letâs be real, romance isnât Horikoshiâs strong suit, despite his many attempts to leave romantic implications throughout the series. Iâd completely understand if he just had Midoriya and Uraraka talk and they didnât end up together, because at least then it still provides both of their characters with closure.
But no, thatâs too simple. Letâs just âleave it up to interpretation,â because it clearly wasnât that important, right?
Well, as many people on the internet have already brought up, if it wasnât so important, why did you spend so much time putting emphasis on it? Why did you have Uraraka, up until the FINAL WAR, have her crush on Midoriya be a crucial part of her character (it wasnât her only character trait, mind you, but it was still important)? Why did the penultimate chapter have the class come to comfort Uraraka and tell her that they can talk to her⌠and then come the next chapter, Uraraka apparently hasnât done anything regarding her supposed crush on Midoriya? For literal YEARS!?
âŚsee, this isnât even a shipping problem anymore. This is a character problem.
Horikoshi, for whatever reason, chose not to include a romance for the main character and his supposed love interest. And again, thatâs fine, not every story needs to be a romance. Two problems with it here though (well, one problem and an observation):
1) Choosing to not at least address the romantic subplot with a âI think weâre better off as friendsâ encounter, thus actually concluding the subplot and providing a sense of closure, not only leaves the result feeling underwhelming and frustrating, but also actively damages Urarakaâs character arc. We can have her address the problem that caused people like Toga to exist, but heaven forbid she talks about romance with Midoriya.
2) Despite his supposed aversion to romance, Horikoshi still went out of his way to give Gentle and La Brava wedding rings⌠heâs willing to establish a side romantic pairing without bringing too much attention to it, but he canât be bothered to do something similar for the arguable MAIN pairing? Itâs the âTogata has special clothes so he doesnât end up buck naked, but Hagakureâs still gotta go commandoâ debacle againâŚ
Iâma go ahead and wrap this up âcause I donât wanna keep yâall much longer, but like⌠being optimistic, this ending was⌠functional. Iâve got my problems with it, obviously, I donât think it was BAD bad⌠but it certainly wasnât good. It works. Barely. And itâs âcause of stuff like this.
Midoriya and Uraraka didnât need to end up together, truly. All Horikoshi had to do was put the smallest amount of effort and give us something of substance, something with closure. Instead, we got what we got.
I get that he was exhausted and wanted the manga to be over⌠but that excuse only holds up for so long.
favorite thing ever is leaving this gif in Ao3 comment sections
because A: a shocking amount of people don't know abt the 'img src=' trick to add images into comment sections, and B: well over half of the authors seem to really enjoy the sentiment
I honestly and truly believe all good AUs should be a little ââââoocââââ in the sense that good characterisation involves understanding that changes a characters backstory and circumstances will have an effect on how they respond to the world around them
Good characterisation isnât about creating a perfect 1:1 canon replica itâs about understanding why a character is different in your work and about grounding the changes you do deliberately choose to make in canon character traits

This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.
What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.

Watched the latest Vince Vintage video- its absurd to me that in order to make a copyright strike on youtube all you need is an email. You don't need to provide any identification in order to strike a channel. In order to *repeal* a claim though, you have to give the person who struck your channel your *FULL LEGAL NAME?* Youtube will seriously NOT let you send a counter claim without your full legal name attached. What the actual fuck.
Anyone on the internet can make an email and copyright strike you, (which automatically takes your video down from the site-) and you have to give them your FULL LEGAL NAME in order to have your video put back up.
August 21st is Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day đ
Letâs be honest - we all forget to leave a comment sometimes. We donât always go out of our way to click the âcome talk to me on tumblrâ link on AO3 to scream about the fic in the authorâs inbox. On August 21st I encourage you to take a moment and show fanfic writers that you appreciate them!
How can you do it?
leave a comment and kudos on every fic you finish reading. Doesnât matter how short. Doesnât matter if youâre just repeating what other people have already said. Just be kind! Keysmashing, Caps Lock, and live commenting appreciated! (Bonus points if you leave a comment on every chapter)
ideas for what to put in a comment: one | two | three | four
floaty review box for ao3 (super useful for commenting as you read + it has a âreview tipsâ button if you feel stuck)
reblog ficlets, drabbles, fics, fic rec posts, etc. Put a nice comment in the tags. Remember that likes, while appreciated, donât give the writer any exposure, meaning the posts donât reach more people
go to your local fanfic writerâs inbox and talk to them about their fic of your choice. Let them know how long ago youâve read it and what story point/sentence/scene still makes you smile when you think about it
send thank you messages to fic writers. In a world where you have to pay for almost everything, theyâre supplying you with countless hours of free entertainment. It can get quite lonely without getting messages acknowledging the hours they spend writing stories - let them know their time and effort is appreciated
make fic rec posts and @ the authors whose fics youâre recommending! (believe me, fic writers love to see their stories in these posts)
create something inspired by a fic! You can draw fanart, make a moodboard or aesthetic post, or even write a song for the fic you love. Whether youâre a beginner or a pro doesnât matter - the thought alone is what counts more than anything <3
buy the writer a coffee if they have a ko-fi page and you have some change lying around c: Caffeine keeps most fic writers awake when they struggle with a particularly slow draft or a difficult scene. More coffee, more words.
These are only some ideas out of the sea of possible ways to appreciate fanfic writers. On August 21st show the writers in your fandom(s) some love <3
