What if it takes one more night before everyone makes their final move? Lucy read the comic book and believed Sam enough to stake Max. What would she have done if she had the opportunity to test Michael? Does she have a night in and "accidentally" spills holy water on him?
What on earth happens in that moment?
Does Michael haul ass out the door and right to David? How betrayed would he feel that this time it's his mom hurting him? Can it even be played off as unintentional since if her suspicion is proven true the end result would be burning him? Can you imagine just how broken he would look in that moment? Holding his hand to his chest, burn apparent, only the basic idea of what is happening since David showed him the truth less than 24 hours before. Does Lucy try to help him or is she totally freaked out? Not even sure which option is worse: a) She feels awful and goes to look at the burn and he yanks his hand away, backed into the fridge and huddled away from her, waiting for a new source of violence against him to appear. b) She is scared at the monster now living in the body of her son and doesn't see him anymore and just this echo of her ex-husband. Michael sees that fear and realizes he's lost everyone. He can't stay at home with both his mom and his brother knowing what he is and clearly willing to hurt him. He can't trust that they won't kill him during the day.
