Art programs you have but don't use
MS paint. If I install something, I use it.
Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
To their left and my right.
What ideas come from when you were little
Oh, almost all of them! When I was small, I loved to draw little, complex illustrations, and the same is true now.
Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
Human anatomy - I suck at it.
Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
Hmm, complex. Maybe 50/50? I am an old, OLD artist - I am almost certainly older than 99% of Tumblr. My age starts with a '5' digit. I draw no matter where I am, and a lot of it I just discard.
Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
By this age, I don't know if much is subconscious any more. Everything I look at becomes a library of other words, other references.
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Oilpaint. And music. I wish I was musical, but I am not. I can read and play it on piano and other instruments, but I can't create. And creation is the soul.
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
I have written hundreds of pages set in a world that I created when I was a child, but it's exhausting to remember or comprehend. I still think about it fondly.
What are your file name conventions
I vary them all the time, which makes them useless.
Favorite piece of clothing to draw
Bracers or gloves, anything with studs and lots of lacing.
Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
Oh man, so much! I listen to old school metal from when I was a kid. I listen to new vibe-based chill out. I'm fond of Arabican coffee house music, but mostly, I'm an old goth/punk and I listen to a TONNE of old goth and punk music.
Easiest part of body to draw
Hands and feet. They follow the bones precisely - so they are simple.
A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
Uhhhhh. I can't think of any! If I admire you, I start to love your work as well.
Any favorite motifs
Oh hell yes. I like fleur de lis, water, fire, I like animals, especially rabbits.
Where do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
Everywhere. Everywhere I go. Why would anyone ever have one place only to do art?
Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
I am very good at interviewing people and drawing out their stresses and problems with work, but I find it very stressful. This is also my day job. Aside from that, artwise? Maybe scales?
Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
Sometimes. Whatever I have at hand. Drawing is more important to me than other things, so if I have a meal to eat, or it's time, I eat. I have never been interested in snacking, so I don't eat snacks.
An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
Eventually, 100% of them. I use things until they fall apart.
Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
Oooh! Maybe water, or fire? But are either of those actually inanimate?
Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
Hands, I guess. I love hands and eyebrows.
Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
Oh, all of them! I wish I could do work like the Ghibli folks do, or anime, but I can't. I would love to be able to do scratchy, 1970s cartooning.
What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
None. I just draw. I do like to walk my dogs though.
Do you use different layer modes
I do a lot of physical media, and I also do stained glass - so in the case of glass, yes? When I do digital art, generally no. If I make a mistake, so be it - who cares? Embrace imperfection. Love being human.
Do your references include stock images
Yes. Not deliberately, exactly, but I will search for any reference.
Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
Lol, my art has never been compared, sometimes people go 'that's cool', but no one has ever said much deeper? I generally don't feel like I get to have conversations like this. If I could guess, people would say 'uhhh untrained person'.
What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
Nothing, as far as I know. As I said with 25, no one really says anything? I still very much appreciate the 'cool!' comments though!
Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
Nope, I go all in, like I have patience for warm ups.
Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
Tonnes, like local exhibitions, art comps for charity, etc.
Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
I don't understand the idea of liking media that doesn't inspire me. Everything is inspiration. I often feel like that inventor from the story by Terry Pratchett - constantly hit by beams of irresistible inspiration.
What piece of yours do you think is underrated
