Love how everyone is just fine with Murderbot spying on them even when it’s not obligated to by the company. They’re all just like “yeah, this is probably just what SecUnits are like. Like how humans hug and cats purr, SecUnits will obsessively invade your privacy without a second thought. Just roll with it.” Pretty sure if I started spying on all of my friends’ casual conversations as a primary method of interaction, they’d have something to say about it.

Shouting out these tags because that’s exactly what not holding Murderbot to human expectations looks like! It’s not a person that is basically human but oh we won’t call it human because it doesn’t like that, it’s a person who’s a sentient security system/component. You wouldn’t go around holding a living planet or your house or a deep-space research vessel or the dragon who protects the local airways to human expectations, you’d have to respect that they’d be people whose priorities, needs, and relations to human individuals would be fundamentally different from your own.

The fact that we can communicate with someone on a level we’re comfortable with, on our terms, doesn’t mean that we oughta also frame them by our terms as well. It means we oughta use that ability to communicate to also approach their level and terms respectfully! Your rogue SecUnit friend is not obsessively invading your privacy any more than a hug is supposed to be an invasion of personal space, it’s checking that you’re safe :)

I love the clear divide between the book 1 PresAux team, treating MB like it’s just a human who’s confused about it and needs their gentle compassion to Teach It How To Be, to realising they fucked up when they read its letter to Mensah and backing off to engage with MB on its own terms. It’s such a clear example of privileged people coming in to help with the best of intentions, and trying to do their best, but just… failing to understand that their way of thinking isn’t automatically universal, and fucking up. And then actually stepping back and realising they’ve handled something poorly, and adapting.

the crazy thing about doctor who is that it really is the best show ever for 30 seconds at a time. you never know when those 30 seconds will be. sometimes they happen multiple times in a single episode and sometimes you wait years and years and years. and the best part is those 30 seconds are surrounded by the worst show ever, which is also doctor who

It's not just to have a "do over" that doesn't involve the original cast, it's to cut them out of the royalties. Literally the entire point is to make sure all the money made by Harry Potter goes to transphobes or people willing to work with transphobes.

If you watch it, you are supporting bigotry, hate, and oppression. That's just objective reality. All for a story that you probably have already seen in movie and book form.

#the last point is especially true since the old cast receives royalties for anything with their likeness on it#meaning the original trio still gets money for every mug with their 14 year old faces on it#if they stop making those and replace them with the new cast which they will the old cast gets cut off completely#which is again exactly what rowling wants because she cannot stand those 'ungrateful brats' as she would likely put it#and as she has last say in anything that gets made in harry potter paraphernalia this might also explain the decrease in faces on products
