a lot of weird stuff in this post that could be cleared up by reading the article (archive link). first, the cop didn't die. champagne song maintains that he fired a warning shot at the ground which ricocheted and hit the cop, nonfatally injuring him. i can see how one might assume that the cop died based on the insane charges and sentencing, but it's important to get the facts right. second, activists have been and are protesting to get all of the prairieland defendants released. instead of ignoring the real work going on, they could have linked the infopage of the support committee that includes information on how to send letters and donations to Autumn Hill and the other incarcerated defendants, as well as other ways to support their cause.
speaking personally, i have run out of patience for performative pessimism. it's in effect no different from the triumphalism of always insisting that the revolution is gonna happen tomorrow; an excuse to not do anything but post. people who aren't protesting love to say that no one is protesting, and people who aren't fighting in solidarity love to talk about no one has any solidarity. whatever. yeah shit is really bad right now. take the fucking gun out of your mouth you big crybaby and do something about it.
