thinking about how the writers of swat gave rocker/lou a happy ending in the show when there was really no need to do all that. and in doing so, they also gave hicks’ daughter molly a happy ending by having her end up with rocker.
these people worked with lou from the very first episode of the series. he wasn’t even a main but we can see how lou meant a lot to the cast, crew and writers with how they treated him as if he was for all those years 🥰🥹

chemmy!!! i love this. okay. parallel universes shenanigans here we goooooo.
Tommy is at his favourite coffee shop, wearing his post breakup misery uniform of ratty sweats and the single solitary shirt Evan left at his place (he wouldn't normally let himself be seen in public like this but he's out of coffee and he hasn't breathed outside air other than days he's on shift in longer than he cares to think about). He's planning to get coffee and a cake or three to go and return to his sad little loser life to feel like a sad little loser when a...thing crashes through the coffee shop window while he waits at the pickup counter.
'Thing' is the best description he can get. It has four...legs? Arms? Limbs, anyway. It has shaggy fur that's blacker than anything he's ever seen, like a void in the world rather than an animal. It's shaped like a wolf, or maybe an ape, and he can't see any eyes but he absolutely can see a mouth full of luminous bluegreen - holy fucking sharp - teeth when it opens its huge mouth and lets out a screeching rattling noise that says: hi, hello, you are dead. People are screaming and scrambling and then another figure follows the thing through the window and slices it in half with a big-ass sword. Blue-black blood sprays everywhere.
The sword-wielding lunatic looks around and - oh, fuck - his eyes settle on Tommy.
"You bastard," Evan says. "Just because we break up you think you can duck out of patrol? Hen could have died!"
To which Tommy says, "Uh...what?"
Meanwhile, across town, Evan is in the company of a sword-wielding, scarred and confused version of Tommy who is frustrated that Evan doesn't have his creature-tracking gear on him.
So they have to figure out how to get the new Evan and Tommy back to their own world while hunting down/trying not to be hunted down by gorilla-wolf motherfuckers creatures. Peril! Arguments! Forced proximity! Inevitable happy ending bc it's me!
A Theo Buckley ADHD/autism head canon that constantly cycles through my mind.
When Buck and Tommy get back together he unexpectedly becomes Theo’s safe person, when Theo’s having a behavioural meltdown or sensory overload he will seek out Tommy and non verbally ask to snuggle or pull on Tommy’s shirt in an attempt to hide underneath it. Buck comes home from shift one day to find Tommy lying on the couch, Theo draped over him with his head under Tommy’s shirt.
It’s not the first time he’s found thin like this, not by a long shot, even if Buck is home when Theo has these moments of overstimulation, he’ll still seek out Tommy in his efforts to regulate himself.
“We had a rough day today,” Tommy says softly, one hand still rubbing gently over the boy’s back, “too much noise.”
Buck drops his bag and kicks off his shoes, heading straight for his boys on the couch.
“Hey, Theo,” Buck calls, announcing his presence before he carefully lifts the hem of Tommy’s shirt and peaks underneath. Theo’s head is resting just off centre of Tommy’s chest, right over his heart, and his little hand is tucked under his chin, fingers tapping the rhythm of the man’s heartbeat.
Buck bullies himself onto the couch next to Tommy, half straddling him to ensure he doesn’t slide off, and he ducks his head under the shirt to join his son. The fabric stretches and gets snug as he settles his head on the opposite side of Tommy’s chest. Theo’s eyes track his movement but he doesn’t say anything yet, still emotionally overwhelmed.
“Tough day, huh?” Buck asks, feeling Tommy’s arm wrap around his back to hold him against his body.
Theo gives a small nod, fingers still tapping the rhythm of Tommy’s heartbeat against his chin.
“Yeah, me too. You mind if I share your safe space for a bit?” He lays his hand on Tommy’s sternum, matching the beat of Theo’s tapping with his index finger.
Theo shakes his head this time, drawing a deep breath into his little lungs and exhaling it loudly through his nose. His body seems to relax a little, as though Buck joining him in his hiding place was what he’d been waiting for to be able to finally let go of the day’s frustration.
With Tommy’s broad hand stroking calmly over the length of Buck’s back, making him feel warm, secure, loved, he can’t blame his son at all for choosing Tommy’s as his safe person.
Uh, s-so you said, before, um, that-that you don’t think I’m ready. And the truth is, I don’t know what I’m ready for. But I am ready for something. And-and I think maybe that something, could be with you. You already know that I’m interested.

the first thing that comes to mine is kintsugi and that got me thinking about scars being golden. I have a few very vague/shapeless ideas floating around, but for the sake of being succinct and not taking ages to answer these asks, I'm going to go with one and it's a sort of revisit to this idea I had before about soul marks.
I want to take it further and say that every scar a person has ever had, their soulmate sees stitched in gold. And Buck is particularly self-conscious about this because of all the scars he got as a kid as well in addition to the scars on his leg and the Lichtenberg scars.
Tommy figures it out much sooner. Maybe he catches a glimpse of gold reflecting under the bright lights of the hangar the night of the hurricane, but he can't be too sure and he doesn't have the time or capacity to wrap his head around it. He knows for sure the day of the basketball game because Buck's showing a lot more skin. And while Tommy's got a few big scars, none of them are visible with the way he's dressed, and any of the smaller ones--on his legs are arms--are too small to see when they're playing basketball.
I think Tommy would hide it for awhile. It's not unusual for him to wear long sleeves and multiple layers. He isn't trying to deceive Buck, although the guilt eats at him because that's exactly what he's doing, it's just--he tells himself it doesn't matter anyway. What would Buck want with a soulmate like him anyhow. And he means to keep his distance, but it doesn't work out that way, though I keep I would hold off on their first kiss much later than in canon.
Maybe Buck figures it out before Tommy tells him. He didn't think much of it at first when he would catch Tommy looking at the scars on his legs because they're visible for anyone to see. He doesn't question the way Tommy's gaze lingers on his chest during a sparring session because it's not the first time he's caught Tommy's eyes lingering on him in an appreciate manner. It's the little scars that give it away. Buck can't see it anymore, but he had a scar when he was younger along the knuckles on his right hand from when he fell out of a tree when he was 9. He and Tommy are getting coffee and when Buck slides Tommy's coffee across the outdoor table, Tommy's eyes linger on Buck's hand. The first time Tommy kisses him, Tommy's lips connect with the right corner of Buck's mouth and even though it isn't noticeable now, when Buck was 11 he crashed his bike into a tree and bit a hole right through his lip.
For some reason, Buck doesn't tell Tommy right away that he knows. There's a lot of insecurities from both parties and so many things that go unsaid, but it gets to a point where they are all but admitting it to each other. When they're lying naked in bed and Tommy's tracing the path of Buck's Lichtenberg scars telling him how beautiful he is. When Buck lets his lips linger on the inside of Tommy's left thigh right over the healed scar from a fishing lure Tommy got one summer on the lake when he was 13.
The way Buck brings it up is by asking Tommy when he's going to let him see his scars, though they both know he already has. They both know he's really saying when are you going to let me in?
Maybe Tommy deflects, smiles at Buck and says you first, sweetheart.
I don't know exactly where this would go or how and when they finally stop being so scared of the enormity of being each other's soulmate, but also realizing that doesn't mean they wouldn't have chosen each other anyway, that they have been choosing each other every day pretty much since they met.
Before they can do that though, maybe they break up. Maybe it's a mutual decision, maybe they want to prove to themselves and each other it's real and not just because the universe or whatever says so. Maybe it's less mutual, one leaves but the other doesn't ask them to stay. When they inevitably run into each other months later after no contact and they hook-up...right after they've helped each other out of their shirts, they both notice a golden jagged line right over the other's heart.
Tommy traces the new line on Buck's chest. "Oh."
Buck does the same. "That's new."
They barely make it to Tommy's bedroom, pressing each other against every wall, barely letting each other breathe.
After, Buck's tracing the line on Tommy's chest again. "Does it hurt?"
Tommy kisses Buck's forehead. "Not anymore."
send me a made-up fic title and i'll tell you what i would write to go with it
Hiiii Ellie ☺️💕!! 6 for the WIP Graveyard, please!
angels hiii!!! 💕 I've missed you I hope you're doing well!!
For you I'll drop the wip I had planned for my 2024 12 fics leading up to the holidays way back when lol this is the only bucktommy wip I still have I think, I ended up scrapping this and posting a different fic altogether haha
This one would take place in post-canon after part 1 of season 8 I think?? just after the breakup. Buck decides to drop off the christmas gift he had for tommy at his house :) snippet below the cut!
When they’d first broken up, Buck assumed that Tommy had told his coworkers all about it, the way he'd done. He’d cut off all of Tommy’s friends the way he’d gone cold turkey with Tommy, and he had a feeling they didn't see him in such a kind light after that. So, when he got a text a few weeks later, it had startled him into a racing heartbeat to see George’s name on his phone.
His stomach dropped when Geoge explained he’d just been making sure that Buck knew his address for the annual holiday party. Dropped further when Buck realized he had to be the one to inform him that he probably wasn’t going to make it given the current state of things. Turned out Tommy hadn’t told any of them why Buck suddenly stopped going to Harbor, why he’d gone so quiet out of the blue. It sucked. He was still a little miffed at Tommy for making him do that.
Regardless, it helped to have ties to Harbor still for moments like this: dropping ill-advised gifts at his ex’s house.
He gathers up his things and starts the drive. It usually takes about thirty minutes to get to Tommy’s house, but it's late, so traffic is light tonight. And he winds up pulling onto Tommy’s street not twenty minutes later.
He slows when he gets into the neighborhood.
He’s always loved the street Tommy lives on. In another life, maybe Tommy would have been the one to ask Buck to move in.
God knows he would’ve said yes in a heartbeat.
There are Christmas lights up on most of the houses on the lane. It’s quiet, and the glow from the bulbs lining rooftops makes everything a little hazy. It’s pretty, and it’s somber in the way that December can be.
There are no lights on Tommy’s house.
He pulls into the driveway and parks, not bothering to turn the car off, this will just be a second. Making his way to the front door, he eyes the doormat, slightly askew. He reaches down to fix it and sets the gift right on top.
Wait, is that a weird spot for it?
Maybe he’ll see it and get suspicious. Buck's mind drifts back to mysterious packages placed by front doors and decides... yeah. The mail might be better, if it’ll fit.
He jogs down to the mailbox, tries stuffing it in and nearly rips the paper in the process.
Front porch it is.
At least if Tommy thinks it’s weird George will have Buck’s back, be able to tell him to open it. Buck stands there looking down at it for a moment. It feels wrong. The gift belongs at his apartment, under his tree. Tommy should unwrap it there, after they’ve had dinner and wine and before they go upstairs to fuck.
Leaving it there instead feels like giving up, like he’s throwing away the last tie that he has to Tommy, because even though he’s still got a few T-shirts at his place, Tommy hasn’t asked for those back and he won’t. Is this the last time he’s going to be at his place? His last drive down the lit-up street?
Buck takes a physical step back, needing to put distance between himself and the house.
Before he does something stupid, he jumps back into his car, buckles, and starts the drive home.
He zones out the whole way, thinking of all the ‘lasts’ that he didn’t realize were lasts. When he gets home he’s finally too exhausted from thinking to do anything but fall to his bed and close his eyes.
-
The morning fades in sharply. There’s knocking at his door and he’s peeved until he checks his phone to see it’s 10 AM. He doesn’t usually sleep that late, but late-night drives and covert gifting missions lend themselves to oversleeping. He tumbles out of bed and trudges down the stairs, tossing on a sweatshirt as he goes.
He’s covering a yawn when he whips the door open, and it takes him a moment to process the man in front of him.
“Tommy?”
“What is this?” Tommy asks. He’s holding out the box Buck left him, unwrapped and opened. He looks like he hasn’t slept at all.
“What do you mean?” Buck plays dumb. “I don’t know.”
“I know you left it at my house, Buck, I have a Ring doorbell.”
Fuck.
-
the end!
I scrapped this because I wasn't quite sure where to take it hahah but it was fun to write and fun to look back on!! Thank you angels!
so it turns out there's nothing like procrastination to get the creative juices flowing! that bucktommy + theo thing that was coming to me in bits and pieces suddenly came to me in full sentences last week while i avoided packing for vacation, and it's now pushing 8k in ellipsus 🤷♀️

“You’re a nightmare,” Evan accuses, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed. Tommy glances over at him, still scrubbing at the burnt corner of the loaf pan, and is pleased to find a hint of a smile on his face. “What kind of nutcase teaches a kid his age to write manifestos?”
“Kept him busy, didn’t it?”
“For tonight,” Evan says. “But by tomorrow I’ll have seventeen pages to read about why tigers make good pets and how he’s going on a hunger strike until both parties come to an agreement about getting one.”
Tommy laughs, shaking his head. “He down for the night?”
“Yeah. In theory.” Evan pushes off the wall and hops onto the counter beside the sink with a groan. Closing his eyes, he slumps back against the upper cabinet and ignores the puddle of water seeping into his jeans at the back of his thigh. Tommy watches the denim turn dark navy against the thick muscle. “And I have about a thousand things to do”—Evan glances over at the soapy dishes—“nine hundred and ninety nine, thank you. But all I want to do is face-plant on the couch and not move for eight hours.”
Humming, Tommy rinses the pan out for a third time. The discoloration from the burnt spot still lingers.
“Let it soak,” Evan advises, nudging his leg with a gentle foot. “I’ll finish it later.”
“It was delicious, by the way,” Tommy says. “I don’t know if I said that.”
Evan nudges him again. “You made it.”
“With your recipe.”
“I found it in a thrift store cookbook,” Evan tells him after a moment, rubbing fingers along his shadowed jaw. Water fills the pan, echoing a metallic hum through the kitchen, until Tommy cuts the stream. “Figured I’d try something new. No baggage.”
Tommy shakes the excess water from his hands with a frown and turns to grab the towel.
“Honestly, I thought you’d’ve been flooded with meatloaves,” Tommy says, a gentle probe, the prod of a tongue in the empty socket of a pulled tooth. He drags the terrycloth against his palms and twists it between his fingers to give himself something to do instead of staring, searching for a hint of what he's missed. “Isn’t that the 118’s whole shtick? All for one, and meal trains for all?”
Evan doesn’t answer. He thumps his heels irregularly against the lower cabinets, rattling the hinges, and then he takes a deep breath. The exhaustion sitting heavily beneath his eyes seems to sink in deeper.
“I asked them to back off, actually,” he says.
