Okay I just want to give everyone a heads up. You’re the risk spoiler. Without a spoiler Buck and Bret are not going to be the whole story. These beginning chapters are setting up, Bret’s ultimate downfall Buck will be get out of that situation/relationship. I completely understand people not wanting to read this fic and I understand that the topics I’m writing can trigger some readers.

Buck stretched out, rolling onto his back with a groan, his head pounding from the lack of sleep. The muffled chatter beyond their bedroom door slowly brought him back to reality.
He and Bret had been up half the night, talking, Bret doing everything he could to reassure Buck. Buck pulled the blanket up over his half-naked body before rolling over toward Bret’s side, eyes still closed, hand reaching blindly across the sheets, only to find a cold bed. His eyes fluttered open.
Empty.
Buck stared at the space beside him for a second too long, his sleep-heavy brain trying to catch up with what his body already knew.
He was alone.
“Bret?” he called, frowning as he pushed himself up onto one elbow.
Nothing.
“Bret?” he tried again, louder this time, looking toward the ensuite bathroom.
Still nothing.
For one sharp, stupid second, panic filled his chest.
Buck shoved the blanket off and climbed out of bed, bare feet hitting the floor. He was in nothing but his boxers, the room still smelling faintly like sweat, sex, and Bret’s cologne.
He grabbed one of the discarded shirts from the floor and pulled it over his head before finding his sleep shorts at the foot of the bed. He tugged them on and headed for the door, squinting as the bright morning sunlight hit him the second he stepped into the hallway, a stark contrast to the dark warmth of the bedroom behind him.
Buck made his way down the hall and into the kitchen, where he found Jack and Brit. Brit was at the counter, finishing up a plate of food.
“There he is!” she said brightly. “My favorite brother-in-law.”
She crossed the kitchen as quickly as her belly would allow, a mimosa already in hand.
“For you,” she announced, pressing the glass into his fingers.
Buck blinked down at it.
“It’s like eight in the morning.”
“It’s your wedding day,” Brit said, like that settled everything. Then she leaned in conspiratorially, lowering her voice. “And I made it strong.”
Jack snorted from behind her.
Buck’s mouth twitched despite himself as he took the drink. Brit wrapped him in a hug before he could say anything else, her belly pressing warmly between them as she squeezed him tight.
“You’re drinking for me today,” she murmured against his shoulder. “So don’t waste it.”
That pulled a real laugh out of him.
Small. Sleepy. But real.
Buck hugged her back, letting himself sink into the uncomplicated affection for a second before she pulled away and patted his chest.
“Now, drink.”
Buck smirked, lifting the glass to his mouth.
“Yes, ma’am.”
He took a sip, the champagne and orange juice sharp and sweet on his tongue. He coughed a little as it burned going down.
Strong, indeed. Just like she’d promised.
“Is Bret around?” Buck asked, glancing between his soon-to-be in-laws.
“Gym,” Jack replied, setting his mug on the counter. “Then over to pick up Gray.”
Buck frowned. “Why didn’t he wake me?”
Jack shrugged, completely unconcerned. “He said he tried. You were dead to the world.” His mouth twitched. “Said you guys had a late night.”
Heat climbed Buck’s neck immediately, and he hid it behind another sip of his mimosa.

Tommy wasn't sure what woke him. His eyes flew open, panic instantly settling in as a muffled cry, followed by controlled breathing, came from beside him.

Buck breathed out slowly, Tommy watching him mentally count through it.

“What’s going on?” Tommy asked softly, rubbing his hands up and down Buck’s thighs.
“I… I had to pee,” Buck breathed out before sucking in a sharp breath.
Tommy’s stomach twisted. Buck groaned in pain, as another wave of tightness hit him.
“Hey, it’s okay… breathe,” Tommy replied quickly. “In… two, three, four, five,” he coached gently, Buck immediately tried to match his breathing. “Good. Now out… two, three, four, five…”
Buck exhaled shakily, shoulders tense.
“I think this is for real this time,” Buck said shakily.
“Are you sure?” Tommy asked searching the younger man’s face.
“I think… I don’t know…”
“How far apart are they?”
“They come and go,” Buck admitted. “These last ones were really bad.”
“Let me call the doctor,” Tommy replied, leaning to the side and over Buck to grab his own phone returning to his position in front of his husband.
