With summer break, I've finally had the time to work on creative projects! One of which being a Bill Cipher plush. I struggled with getting the proportions of the arms and legs write (I'd sew them too skinny and then couldn't turn it right side out) so I just decided to go with a limbless version which I call a Billow (Bill pillow).

I just found these old photos in my phone from a high school theatre project. We had to make a mask based on a fictional character that used either abstract and/or surrealest themes. Here is my interpretation of Lavenza from the Velvet Room in Persona 5!
Played my first oneshot of the Magnus Archives ttrpg a few nights ago, (DM-ed by @kayoticinconvenience )and it was really fun! I played Thalia "Thea" Stanford (funny story about the name), "an inquisitive investigator who solves mysteries".
In the oneshot's story (which roughly ran parallel to the latter half of season 3), the five player characters worked at the Magnus instute and were tasked with stopping another (less seasonally relevant) ritual which turned out to be that of the Flesh. None of us had played the ttrpg before so the game was pretty casual and silly.
Our cast consisted of:
Thalia "Thea" Stanford - my character, a field researcher who was moved to the Archives because the current archival staff were busy handling the Stranger situation
John Archives - a noir detective who frequently mused about living in the archives as well as being born there. Whether this is literal or metaphorical has yet to be determined.
John Ðe (pronounced The) - a optimistic defender who used a forklift and a metal pipe to beat the shit out of the Flesh avatar/Jared Hopworth stand-in we encountered
Wheels Cycle (a name which was made up on the spot by the player looking around at various objects) - a tech savvy researcher
And
Jerma Belmont - a character who's Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was the deus ex machina of stopping the Flesh's ritual (it exploded)
What's funny is that between the 5 players, we had very different experiences with the Magnus Archives podcast. The two Johns had never listened to it and only had a little knowledge (hence the kinda silly names), I've listened through season 3, and Wheels, Jerma, and the DM had listened to the whole thing.
The story of Thea's name below the cut!
So earlier in the year I was DMing a D&D oneshot that took place in a museum. Rhe curator of the museum was Thea R. Kivist (The Archivist) who's research and personal hyperfixation was on this very specific fictional country's history (which is another post entirely)
So I kept Thea cause I thought it was a pretty name but I didn't want my TMA ttrpg character to have too much of an ace attorney name (I did not know about the Johns at this time) and I wanted to differentiate her from Kivist.
Googling Kivist, apparently its a Finnish or Estonian name meaning stone or rock, so, looking up other surnames with the same meaning, I settled on Stanford.

Dottie (VTM OC) was initially going be named Alice after the egl brand Alice and the Pirates. Then, I remembered that there's a vampire in Twilight named Alice. So, I scrapped that name and went with Dottie, a nickname for Dorthy. She's now named after Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz as a reference to Kansas and Kansas City, where her chronicle is set.
Talon was actually originally designed after my DnD character Larkhad before he became his own thing. I wanted to keep a bird theme so I went with Talon and Mercutio was my favourite townie sim when I was little.
Since then the rest of my oc’s have kind of gone the same way with ‘Bird Theme, Shakespeare reference’ even though I don’t really like Shakespeare lol
I initially based my VTM character's aesthetic off of John Constantine so I went with Joanna as a first name and just scrolled through a list of Roman emperors until I found one I liked resulting Alexander as a surname. She has since become quite different from John Constantine lol
So I just started watching Arcane after many recommendations and I'm enjoying it!
My current favorite characters are Jayce and Viktor (who I've dubbed the Science boys), and I am so cheering them on to figure out their magic-science/hextech stuff.
Okay, so, wow! A lot has happened between episodes 3 and 4!
Several notes/comments/theories:
(Spoilers for through episode 4 of Arcane)
I knew Powder was going to become Jinx but I didn't know how, so that was cool
I'm seeing the character parallels between Vander and Silco, and Vi and Powder/Jinx and thoroughly enjoying them
Silco and Jinx's dynamic is just fun! Cool villains with two different vibes
The animation style is really neat and Jinx's glitching effects are fun, really show her mental state
My theory to why Viktor didn't want to work on the Hextech gemstones for another decade before presenting them is that he doesnt have another decade to do so. Could be nothing but he seemed weak/coughed before the progress day speech, and if Victorian literature/tv tropes has taught me anything, then an unexplained cough is a sure omen of death
Viktor is also struggling with his bad leg (not sure what the cause of that is/if it'll be revealed) which makes me theorize that he wants to use the Hextech to create something to aid him (like the gauntlet Jayce used)
I'm worried Jayce is going to start letting the power get to his head
Caitlyn is so cool. I love her detective-ness and determination

Just finished Season 1 and WHAT A FUCKING RIDE. And its not even nearly over yet! AND I STILL CANT LOOK AT FANART BECAUSE I FEAR SPOILERS! No hate of course but mild frustration. Did I expect the ending? Heavens no. Was it satisfying? Not really, but nothing too bad happened so whoopee! Sadly it did its job well by creating more questions than answers. I know I am years late to the party but the comments on Spotify by other new listeners keep me going (and give me a good laugh!) I guess all I can say now is onward to Season two! Who really needs sleep!?
Under the cut are actual spoilers so newbies like me, proceed with caution!!
I have started keeping a notebook to keep track of all the creepy side characters, so far Gerad Key is my favourite. Or is it Jared? I dont know how to spell any of these names and I thought English was my first language.
Every actual scream scared the living daylights out of me, especially when the bugs first got into the office around the episodes in the 20s(?) Sheesh, new fear unlocked: loud noises and squishy squirming bugs!
The Jane Prentiss arc was definitly interesting. Her episode The Hive is one of my favourites. So well acted! These guys are trying very hard to give me a fear of holes. Im still angry at her for locking Martin in his house for a fortnight.
Martin is by far my favourite character. He is so sweet! And scared of everything and I sympathize with him. Get this man a warm drink! His first official introduction episode is my other favourite. To be honest I fell in love with him the second Jonathan made a mean comment about him. He's just a little guy! I hope he doesn't lose his kindness and innocence in the coming seasons...
Jonathan is growing on me. I thought he was okay at first--I mean he IS the protagonist so I didnt really have a choice. But the last few episodes delved deeper into his character and his fears and I respect him more now. And he needs to take a fucking nap.
Sasha is the best! I love every minute with he on screen. She is so badass and fierce and stubborn!! Plus i swear she is the only one of the group who thinks logically and, well, at all. Her idea with the fire alarm was genius. Im afraid though that something bad will happen with her due to Michael. Her scream in the Archive store room actually freaked me the hell out. I might be dreaming about that. Or, nightmaring as it were. And the credits for two voices of Not Sasha did nothing to put my mind at ease.
Tim is a menace. God speed Joe Spooky.
It appears that I've only just begun a crazy roller coaster of whatever I've stumbled into. All I wanted was a nice podcast to listen to while I work out and now I've become the worst thing. A FAN! How egregious! Anyways, I think I will be trapped in this rabbit hole for a long time so I guess all I can do is enjoy it while it lasts. I hope these next season's dont hurt too bad.
Welcome! I'm just finished season 3 and I feel the same way about fanart and other fan made content (luckily I have the friend who introduced me to it who is more than willing to drip feed me spoiler free art)
Spoilers for season 1 below cut
I loved hearing your thoughts on season one! I know I was actively yelling at my screen when the attack on the institute began (what a cliffhanger!) worrying about the state of Jon (who definitely deserves a nap) and Martin (who definitely deserves a warm drink).
On Sasha, Michael, and Tim? Well, I don't want to spoil so you'll see...
Its great seeing the views of newerbies since I myself only recently started!

I'm on season 3 of The Magnus Archives and I want to talk about all the CRAZY stuff that is happening with my friend who has listened to the whole series. But since we have a third friend who hasn't gotten as far, we've started speaking in code around them. Most notably by refering to Michael Shelley and Michael Distortion as Seashell and Snail Shell, respectively

What I get for starting to listen to the Magnus Archives for the first time shortly after playing Deltarune for the first time. So many Light/Leitners :D
(I've only finished season one so no spoilers please)
