"I'm only criticizing the people who are lazy on purpose" is just not the reassurance people think it is when nearly every disabled person has been accused of not really being disabled and just being lazy on purpose
sexism in medicine kills people. racism in medicine kills people. fatphobia in medicine kills people. queerphobia in medicine kills people. classism in medicine kills people. ableism in medicine kills people.
do not downplay peopleâs fears about being mistreated because they are a part of a marginalised group. it is a matter of life and death and you should be angry about it.
Would you also be able to make medication boxes with fun but functional labels? Like ones labelled "migraines" but in your usual fun writing? :)
this is something id definitely be able to do!im going to try setting up commissions on my kofi page so people can ask for more personalization on these sorts of items
the thing about ME/CFS is that the limitations are negotiable -- until suddenly they aren't.
sure you'll crash if you accept that invitation to the beach, but you *can* go. you *can* put together a bag with towels and your swim trunks and snacks, ride in the car, and sit on the beach in the sun for three hours and chat with your friends and splash in the water a little. but then you spend the next week in bed in agony feeling like you're dying, feverish and shakey and nauseous and unable to sit up.
and the next time, you really can't go to the beach. just putting the towel and swim trunks in the bag makes you shake and black out from fatigue. you don't make it out the door the next morning, because packing the night before means spending the day in bed and your SpO2 is in the low 90s, and anything more than water makes you puke.
but hey you can still do stuff at home! you can take a shower and dress yourself, even if it makes you feel like you have the flu for the rest of the day. so you do, even though you have to get right back into bed afterwards. but you're doing it! you're doing self care! and slowly the full shampoo bottle becomes too heavy to lift, so you stop washing your hair. and you start cheating at getting dressed: just changing your shirt and not bothering with the pants. and you still have to lie down afterwards. and then there comes a day where getting out of bed is too much.
so yeah. maybe the limits are negotiable, in the short term. and in the short term, you might not have much of a choice. but in the long term, pushing those boundaries makes pushing through more and more impossible
this specifically is why rhetoric around "it's only a real disability if it's non negotiable" irks me. if you treat ME/CFS's negotiable limitations as somehow fake or don't respect them, you're going to wind up much much sicker

update on the summer edition of the spoonie supplement!
we have started working on it but we are still looking for a charity highlight and a creator highlight. so... if you have a chronic illness charity you want to see spoken about, or a creator you want to see uplifted, let us know!!
i expect the magazine to be finished mid to end of june but i'll obviously keep you all posted.
if you want to purchase the spring edition while it's still available, check out my Ko-Fi (see previous posts) or my website (link in bio)
thank you all so much for all your support. it really helps, even just the reblogs get my work out to a wider audience and it means everything to me.
wanted to give you guys some more info on our ko-fi subscriptions
theyre mostly based around my chronic illnesses magazine, the spoonie supplement, and are geared towards disabled people in the sense that a lot of the goodies/zines/extras will be disability based products like the other stuff you see on my page.
so.. if theres a spoonie you love, this subscription might be good for them.
we have three tiers to accomodate a wider budget and audience
the link for my ko-fi is below if you want to sign up.

How reliable would you say the platform you use to sell your stuff is?
Just asking as I'm a disabled uni student in the UK and I'm planning on selling bead jewellery (mainly bracelets and keyrings as that's what I already make for myself and my friends) online as a way to get a little extra income (even if it's only a fiver every couple of months or something) while I'm there (that's if it doesn't mess up loans and stuff. I'll check first) as I don't think I can do a part time job and uni at the same time and maintenance loan won't cover everything.
If this is too weird of a question, feel free not to answer. Anyway, have a good day :)
i use bigcartel for my website set up with stripe payments. all in all theyre both very reliable, and ive never had any problems with invoicing someone or making a refund. its pretty simple to set up and bigcartel uses a tiered system so you can start for free and then depending on how much youre willing to pay a month you can upgrade and get mire features. ive used both the free version and the ÂŖ11 a month version and both have been easy and had great customer service if you need it.
hope this helps!
Ko-Fi and mutual aid update
wanted to let you all know that I'm now offically on Ko-Fi with subscription tiers available to recieve chronic illness zines and/or care package. I also have the ol' regular tip options.
i decided to make this move because as a disabled person who cannot commit to regular, full-time or part-time work, my income is drastically reduced and I struggle to keep myself fed at times, so giving people safe options to support me financially is really important.
I'm also estranged from both my parents due to prolonged abuse which really limits my options and I'm currently trying to build up emergency savings, and savings so I'll be able to move to a safer area.
i hate having to ask for aid/support but here goes:
if you are able to support i'll put the ko-fi link below:
