So I showed this to a physicist and they were like "Oh! Yes! It's a figure from Fred Espenak's very old paper where he did a bunch of eclipse graphics! I've been looking at these my entire internet life, basically, for every solar eclipse! They called him Mr. Eclipse. He just passed away recently 🥺"

Anyway apparently Mr. Eclipse made 5000 years' worth of solar eclipse graphics, which you can find the simpler versions of here

So now instead of laughing at NASA for their outdated graphics I'm emotional about Mr. Eclipse and his hard work

you'd think occasionally men would need to touch other men like this to manoeuvre them out of the way but it never happens

actually, i DO put my hand on men's lower backs to move past them in a crowded room, but there are specific reasons for that

1) horse girl is my native language, and you always keep a hand on a horse when you're walking behind them, so they know where you are

2) i'm short, and my hand touches whatever bit of back is approximately shoulder height for me

3) Man is my second language, so i sometimes miss the nuance of these subtle cultural differences

so women tend to get a shoulder touch, while men tend to get a back touch

and yes, i do assume they will lash out like a startled horse if i dont do the warning touch. it hasnt happened yet, but i have also never tried it, so...
