I think people would be less suicidal if they were allowed to talk about being suicidal without risk of being sent to the Torture Dungeon
Don’t assume malice. Assume ignorance. Life is easier, the world is kinder, and you can educate. Actual malice is pretty rare, I find.
Always remember Hanlon’s Razor–”Never assume malice when incompetence will suffice as an explanation.”
That’s said, never forget Fred Clark’s Law, either: “Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.” There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice–at which there is simply no way to become that ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

youre right, no one else can feel it for me
is that song actually character-coded or is your brain a character-shaped hammer looking for lyrics to nail down somewhere
I seem to be living a very expensive lifestyle called eating food regularly
if you point out to someone that uses "first world" and "third world" to mean "rich" and "poor" countries respectively that that's Not what those terms mean then there's always someone that goes "well maybe not at first but language evolves you know 😃☝️" like wow we got Ferdinand de Saussure over here
language doesn't evolve in a vacuum!!! Maybe THINK for two seconds why words that originally referred to countries that were allied with the US in the Cold War and countries that were neutral are now being used to mean "rich" and "poor". It's almost like that's an intentional misuse designed to relate wealth with US alliance. Also "the way people use it now" doesn't matter, you're just using the words wrong
so for the love of god STOP SAYING THE UNITED STATES IS "A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY IN A GUCCI BELT" LEARN WHAT WORDS MEAN
Fimo rat I and my sibling made circa 2008. I want to paint it.

For this poll, only count alcoholic drinks that were available for the express purpose of drinking alcohol. Don't count drinks that contain alcohol but are primarily for other purposes, like communion wine.

whenever i see people call random edgy but not-at-all harmful artists "degens" i would like to refer them to the first sentence of wikipedia's "degenerate art" article
So, I have a 10 year old sibling and I worry so much about her, about everything. About being a ten year old in this current environment, about being a mixed white-asian kid, about being a girl. She's diagnosed ADHD so that's another thing. But every time I see her, she's fine. She's awesome. Smart little neurodivergent bastard, just like me. I don't think worrying about her is helpful, I think she has the same resilient, intelligent capabilities that I have and she's just gonna be fine. And deal with whatever comes her way. Same as I have.
All I can do is be her cool nice older brother. Man, I would have loved a guy like that when I was a kid!
I used to keep lists and keep track of books I was reading, and slowly it dwindled until I only read books sporadically. What's crazy is once I start reading a book, I love it and can't stop, but it's so hard to start. I am also suffering a bit of freezing up due to indecision, there are so many books I WANT to read, but it's hard to just pick one and start. I feel like I have to 'choose wisely' but I never had that mentality as a teen. I just read anything that came my way, and that worked out great.
The reason you can't finish a book in one day anymore is not because of your phone it is because you were reading books written at a 5th grade level because you were 11. It's ok

im so done with seeing articles about kids and screen time that doesnt mention parent behaviors even once. “kids are always on their phones” so are the parents! which the kids look to for how they should behave! ipad babies didn’t chose to only play on their ipads, thats what their parents gave them!
an anecdotal example: when i was a kid, all my parents would do in their minimal free time was watch tv and then they would be surprised when in my sister and i’s minimal free time we would also only watch tv/play video games. they scolded us for not reading books, but they never read books. they scolded us for not going outside but they never went outside.
“kids are always on their damn phones” my mom is in her 60s and opens up candy crush anytime she’s sitting — it isnt just the kids
Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia
This (from Cornell Labs via Merlin) is the pic I was looking at. It's just a little baby but it's so much bigger than its "parent"!!!! Do baby cowbirds feel isolated? Do they understand they're a different bird, or are they just a really bad sparrow?
hey, good news! ecologists have been studying this very thing! it seems young cowbirds have some kind of innate sense that leads them to sneak out of their foster nest at night to hang out in grasslands where they—more often than not—meet other cowbirds and learn more about what they really are.
Thanks I am going to cry so hard I throw up ;-;
