Capture the Flag: Pirate Edition
Capture the Flag: Pirate Edition
Objective: Literally capture the pirate flag of another pirate in a sneaky way (i.e. don't be spotted, no casualties, etc.).
Rules:
Claim the pirate flag of another pirate either by stealth (as intended), deception, or sheer outright audacity. Do not harm or deface the flag in any way.
If utilizing stealth, leave a note with a subtle clue on the flagpole to let the crew know that it has been pilfered (and not merely blown away) along with a subtle clue as to how they can figure out who took it. This is to enable them to respond in kind (i.e. to steal your flag in return) so an amicable trade/return of the respective flags can be arranged.
If no response is forthcoming, either the clue was too subtle, they couldn't figure it out, or they just didn't want to play, in which case just shrug and move on (but keep the flag in pristine condition). Do not inform them directly of your actions, as not every pirate (crew) has a sense of novelty, adventure, or humor.
Note: if you manage to collect a large number of flags with no responses, this will make the inevitable response to your thievery more difficult to determine who the responder is.
If they manage to snag your flag in response (and you correctly deduce the culprit), peacefully approach them and initiate a return of both of your flags, ensuring that the other party did not harm or deface it in any way. Acknowledge the skills of your 'rival,' and never steal their flag unprovoked again. After all, no one likes tedious repetition.
If they (or you) get caught trying to steal the flag, the failing party is to admit their defeat and praise their intended target. Never attempt to pilfer their flag again; this is a one-time thing. After all, this is for amusement, not annoyance or rage-baiting.
Optional (albeit risky) rule: Replace their flag with your own, someone else's, or something amusing (but not trauma-inducing; this is a game, after all). The 'risky' part comes from not knowing how your target will respond to the replacement.
Do not brag about your exploits; this game is to be performed within the pirate community in secret; kind of like an "initiation rite," or a kind of in-joke amongst the pirate community.
There are no official points or tallies of any kind (unless you want to count the number of unrecovered flags in your possession that you are in no way permitted to let anyone know about).
Above all, have fun! Thief up, me hearties, yo ho!
