The concept of sex variance isn't talked about a lot even in sex-variant spaces, so I felt that a flag for sex variance could also be communicating the reason it exists as a concept - the shared experiences of intersex people, trans people, and those who are sex-variant and neither.

Full brightness sex variance flag

This flag is a combination of the commonly used intersex and trans flags, with an additional dark grey stripe, color chosen for being neutral. I was originally thinking of making that stripe black, but realized it was evoking death associations and I want this flag to be about living people first. I mostly kept the flags' colors close to the original ones, but made the blue slightly darker and the yellow lighter for cohesiveness.

The V shape represents variance-divergence-diversity (and references other sex-variant flags), and the rays represent my hope for a bright and beautiful future where sex variance is destigmatised (but they also just were a good way to both have a V shape and have the stripe colors be about equally represented). You could also interpret the rays as us all coming from or converging into the same place of being sex-variant.

[Edit: I'm getting doubts about this flag's shapes, the central symmetry started feeling weird after some time. Feedback is welcome. I'm marking this as version 1 for now, might experiment more later.]

I often run into people that say me that I can't use the label intersex for myself, that I'm "just a woman" and PCOS is pretty common. A person who presents and/or identifies both femininely and masculinily specifically as a reclamation. This term is intended for people who have had both femininity and masculinity forced on them in traumatic ways.

Noxandrofemme can be a gender in and of itself or a description of one's gender.

Violet & Gold - These colors represent intersexuality, and are placed on the edges of the flag to symbolize these are experiences within/caused by someone's intersexuality

Off-pink - Reclaimed femininity on one's own terms, not those of cisnormative society

Off-blue - Reclaimed masculinity on one's own terms, not those of cisnormative society

Teal - Recovery and healing from trauma that was caused by living in cisnormative/dyadic society as an intersex person

Clips from the intersex documentary Every Body (2023) featuring interviews from Sean Saifa Wall, River Gallo, Alicia Roth Weigel, John Money, a 90's international intersex group meetup, a mother of an intersex kid who was told to stop having kids, and in the final clip, David Reimer - the man who was the basis for John Money's experimentation that is still used on intersex infants today.

This compilation is in response to the queer community on tumblr being painfully ignorant and unaware of the medical abuse intersex people endure today, and every day of our lives. For some reason, there's this idea that this sort of shit cannot be happening to us, because it's "malpractice" (despite being standard medical practice) or because it's rape or mutilation or child abuse, or because of any other reason. This is happening. This is very real. David Reimer ended his life a couple years after the interview given here. I was eleven when the medical abuse began and fifteen when I was assaulted and punished by a female OBGYN for being intersex.
