Honestly I probably do want to be a girly girl who wears makeup and skirts all the time and feminine stuff like. I dress the way I do because it's low effort. watercolor painting is fun. I know I'm not doing it "right" because you're supposed to like wet blend on the canvas or something. But like fuck it! I'm doing this because I enjoy it and the process of colormixing is calming. Fuck technique, I'm an amateur, I do this because it's fun and good for me. I spent like 40 minutes "painting" yesterday and do you know what I got out of it? Almost the exact shade of grey I wanted. I was watching anime with a friend and spent almost an entire episode mixing a nice purple! I feel more mentally stable having made that purple! It doesn't matter that I'm basically paint-by-numbering my actual art when I get the color I want. I'm still improving my abilities and having a good fucking time doing it. ARRRGHHH
I have to make posts like this whenever I'm indulging in something I'm not perfect at. I get in these internal arguments where part of me is viciously critiquing what I'm doing, and I have to consciously argue against it really hard. Putting it into words and putting it out there for other people to see helps me a lot because now the "I'm having fun, it doesn't have to be perfect" side of things is our public opinion. There's a sort of social effect of like "well you shouldn't think that because people know your opinion is actually X" that helps me fight that self-critiquing.
So this is basically a coping mechanism for not being perfect at art lol.
