On July 1942, 2, most of the children of Lidice, a small village in what was then Czechoslovakia, were handed over to the gestapo office of the gestapo.
These 82 children were then transported to the of extermination camp 70 kilometers away. Once they arrived, they were gassed to death. This remarkable sculpture by Marie UchytilovĂĄ commemorates this massacre.
A group of Bronze Sculptures, paying tribute to the children who died. Its construction was decided in 1969 by the woman sculptor, Marie Uchytilova. As a symbol of an imaginary tomb of the 13 million most innocent victims of the war - children, she chose as model, 82 children of lidice asphyxiated in the gas rooms of chelmno.
She took 20 years to make this beautiful sculpture because she used the vintage documents to reproduce the faces of the missing children and to represent them according to their exact size.
At the peak of my 13-year-oldness, I wrote a Hunger Games fic in which a former tribute (who won, obviously) had to watch her two kids being reaped the same year, and for extra drama, the organizer made her their mentor. The fic alternated between flashbacks to her own Games with the allies she made and saw die, and the fact that eventually she would have to choose which of her kids to save (or just straight up abandon both to the arena).
So far so good right?
Except the year was 2012. It was a songfic.
And the song I chose? The chorus to Nicky Minajâs STARSHIPS.
"Starships" being the name her group of allies was given by the viewers. "Letâs do this one more time" was unironically the saddest line in the fic.

No you donât understand, I have this entire developed theory about the Ice Age universe which has been cooking up in my mind and has only be reinforced by the latest 5th installment. Scrat is the god of the Ice age universe. The story began with him and the story will end with him. If there werenât hints before, in this latest installment, it becomes clear that Scratâs actions dictate what happens on Earth and to the protagonists. Yes, maybe Scartâs only goal is to get the nut, but his actions SHAPE what happens in the film. If we needed any further proof then may I point out something Buck said in the 5th film along the lines of âweâre 6 mins early! Somebody up there likes us!â That phrase is usually used to refer to a god and in this case itâs used to refer (unknowingly) to scrat!
However, there is an ALTERNATE theory that I have been working on. What if Scart isnât the god of the ice age universe, but rather, the NUT is? As i have already said, Scartâs actions shape the course of the story but what motivates Scart? Thatâs right: the nut, it is truly because of the nut that Scart does what he does that leads to the events that take place in the story. This would create an interesting metaphor here. Scrat is chasing the nut like man chases divinity. So when will the Ice Age saga end?? When Scart finally gets the nut for good. When man catches God.
