MV was pretty good, I actually like how it was completely down to Earth and showed only Mikoto's PoV! I also like his report, and the reveal that it wasn't his face from his first day of work, but rather the face of right after John went on a killing spree. Also so he's FUCKED fucked, everything else aside.
I didn't want to use this term ever but we have officially found "Decoslop". I got hopeful when the intro was the trailer part, but no, they just took away all of Mikoto's style and musical distinction. The rock-like elements later on in the song are good but not enough to save it. I'm genuinely disappointed with how EVERY t3 song sounds the same. Why the fuck is he rapping!? These lyrics give us absolutely nothing also! I wouldn't mind the instrumental and the gentler singing style IF (and only if) the lyrics were better + NOT ANOTHER GODDAMN RAP.
From trial 1 and even 2 I feel like Deco has completely Lost The Point which is that these are Milgram songs made for characters to reflect their mental states. So far, with the exception of The Appare March and maybe Non-Demonium and Camouflage (which both still fail on the lyrics, individuality-wise), every song has just sounded like a regular Deco*27 song from the same album. If you made a Miku cover of Requiem and I hadn't heard it before, I would think it's a new Deco*27 song that was about an isolated and random situation. Hell, I probably wouldn't even connect it to DID or burnout! This might be an issue with how Deco likes to "tiktokify" or "trendify" with their English translations (which read more like bad localizations), but the lyrics are both boring and OOC.
The worst part is that there is PLENTY to work with when it comes to the lyrics and established music styles. Muu and Fuuta are fine because this is on point/very close to how their other two songs sound and the lyric styles (ie; rap), and Yuno gets a pass because she is saying ALL of her feelings and it sounds GOOD (it's also tying into her arc with Mahiru). The rapping in Camouflage is a departure from Kazui's other song (we got some lyrics like that in Cat, but only for the chorus), and Amane's hip-hop breakdown at the climax of the song still pisses me off; the lyrics are also the most immature we've gotten from her, which is the same for everyone.
This is everything I feared and everything that's currently wrong with Milgram. Regardless of how good the writing for the reports and final VDs are, Milgram is shaping up to have a disappointing conclusion music-wise. Maybe Deco's just lost passion for the project or has too much going on, but either way the songs have had a noticeable dip in quality (specifically in regards to being songs for a music project). Drama (and probably a second Es song/conclusion song) REALLY needs to be good, otherwise we're ending on a sour note. Mikoto has lost his aggression and strong music, so I'm hoping Kotoko can bring it back x10.
