Honestly I'm usually one of those leftcom types who'll say like "oh all businesses have ties to shady shit" "Trump and Dana were friends before this" blahblahblah, and I'm savvy enough with a VPN and shit to not pay for any sports anyways, regardless of how "ethical" or "unethical" they are. But for this I just feel like watching it would be like watching the Springboks during Apartheid. It's just that distasteful on a personal level.

Yeah. It's not a recent thing but combat sports just continues to be a constant drag because of all the extra baggage. Truly think this will hurt the sport in 2-3 years. But it's wild we went from "I don't need to hear about [insert fighter]'s politics" to the president using the UFC card as a distraction from the fact he surrendered in a war that he himself started.

up until this event I was able to delude myself it's okay to pirate fights, that was the best compromise of watching the sport I grew up doing while avoiding the background shadiness. with this event, I'm starting to doubt even that...

múltkor az egyik francia szaktársammal dumáltunk a magyar politikáról és valami olyasmit kérdezett, hogy mennyire nyitott Magyar Péter és hogy látom a queer jogok helyzetét Magyarországon. elég hosszasan yap-eltem az otthoni helyzetről, változásokról, stb. és utána így nézett rám és mondta "szóval a válaszod arra, hogy MP mennyire liberális az, hogy az új kormány hajlandó válaszolni újságírók kérdéseire...?" és őszintén nevetnem kellett mert akkor ütött be, hogy ez mennyire alap máshol

WAIT HOLD ON I cannot fucking believe when I was like four years old my parents were cajoling me to walk with the family and trying to get me to keep up even though I kept insisting that I was "tired" until they took me to a doctor and found out my LUNGS DIDN'T WORK. how insane that we live in a world where reasonably loving parents think their FOUR YEAR OLD is trying to be LAZY. like they were mortified to be clear. adults are just so trained to ignore children's complaints as untrustworthy, kids just need discipline, they can't possibly speak for themselves. what the fuuuuck.

this applies to teenagers as well btw. so many times I was dismissed for being a "mood teen" or having "an attitude". not to say those weren't true, usually because I was horrifically depressed which wasn't taken seriously either. but many times I had physical things going on. the incident that comes to mind is when my dad spent all day forcing me to go hiking and every time I said I was tired, I'd be told off for dragging my feet and needing to be more active (I was still doing extracurricular sports at the time). turned out at the end of the day when we got back to the hotel and I was beyond exhausted I had a 39+C fever, like I said I did btw. what a surprise that it was hard for me to spend the day awake at all, let alone trekking through the forest.
