from owning a dog, whom i love and value very much, i have learned that people who hate dogs are largely pragmatic and correct in their criticisms of dogs (stinky, noisy, dangerous), whereas people who hate cats are largely delusional or sociopathic in their criticisms of cats (aloof, mean, untrainable, unloving)

skimmed the wikipedia page for documented fatal dog attacks in the USA today and i think you should probably have to read that before they let you have one. the majority of them are children and old people, and most of them are something along the lines of "left the baby in their cot to go make dinner and the family husky who never showed any signs of aggression literally ate it within ten minutes". most of the rest are unsecured, untrained dogs being hoarded in someone's yard. random stray dog attacks are on there too but they're pretty rare in the USA. lot of people who disappeared while walking 2-3 dogs and were found dead with the dogs guarding their half-eaten corpse etc. both a cat and a dog are capable of freaking out and eating you, the difference is that a medium sized dog weighs 30-50lbs. and there are a lot of medium sized dogs on the list of attacks, although naturally the larger dogs are more often fatal when they become aggressive. i just dont think any but the most blackpilled dog owners ever acknowledge this
