I’ve seen a lot of people comenting about Essek in the last episode being ‘warrior’-esk and it being out of character for him and comparing him to how he is in later events in Aeor and him being a ‘bad adventurer’

Here’s the thing: Essek is powerful (even though he’s a squishy wizard) but I think what they were showing us in ep8 fight was that he is not good at being in a team and participating in group efforts—he killed three of his guys trying to suck Ikithon into a gravity sink hole. He always has his own goals.

I think when we get to the Aeor arc, Essek is going to appear weaker in his spellcraft because he is afraid of hurting The Mighty Nein when he is trying to prove his worth and trust to them.
