one trope that i find absolutely adorable but never see is code switching. I ESPECIALLY think this applies to Zoey.
Zoey switching between English and Korean fluently throughout conversation
Zoey forgetting a word in one language and just replacing with the other's translation.
My personal favorite: Zoey getting tired, sad, or delirious, and naturally reverting to Korean because she heavily associates that with Rumira, and she associates Rumira with being happy and comfortable.

Has anyone ever considered Celine on anesthesia (because she got an injury or something) mistaking Rumi for Mi Yeong and just bawling her eyes out and letting out so many emotions that she’s kept buried for years about Mi Yeong and her passing.
Bonus points if this occurs closely after the events of the movie when Rumi hasn’t spoken to Celine in a while.
Headcanon - The Sunlight Sisters carved out a full night from their schedule to watch Mulan when it came out not because they thought the movie would be a masterpiece or were huge Disney fans but because Celine did Mulan’s singing voice and Disney gave her special access to see it early. They watched the movie but Miyeong and Thirdlight spent all of reflection belting out the notes while Celine hid her face in her hands.
The Sunlight Sisters were performing one of their biggest concerts to date; the stadium was shaking with the fans’ energy. The song the artists were singing was one of the most energetic in their setlist that night, and Honmoon was… happy, moving along with them and the spirits of their fans, her blue color shining brightly.
Until a rift opened in the sky, and three unconscious, bloodied bodies fell from the stars. Honmoon quickly caught them, guiding these people toward the stage.
The impact of the bodies hitting the stage floor reverberated through the hunters’ souls; expressions of disbelief, surprise, and terror flashed across their faces before they dropped their microphones and rushed toward each of the bloodied women.
Poppy, the oldest of the group, walked straight up to the woman with pink hair; the iridescent jacket she was wearing was stained with blood—blood that was running down her arms and dripping onto the stage. She grabbed the woman by the shoulder and flipped her onto her back.
Mi-Yeong went to the woman closest to her; she looked a little older than Mi-Yeong.
Celine, the leader and youngest of the group, went to the woman in front of her—a woman with purple hair and patterns on her skin that resembled those of demons too closely for Celine to feel comfortable.
She gently cupped the woman’s face, then checked her pulse, noticing how fast it was racing. She looked back at her face—a trickle of blood running down her forehead and her arms slightly burned—and a strange, faint maternal impulse washed over her just before this woman, who was definitely older than she was, opened her eyes shakily.
“Eomma?”
Celine froze for a moment, the sound around her deafening her ears, and her manager’s shouts through her in-ear monitors—telling them to keep the show going—acting as white noise for her thoughts.
Eomma? Did this woman think she was her mom?
“Oh, hey, baby,” Celine offered a shaky smile, though her hands were steadier than she’d expected. “Can you tell me what happened? Where does it hurt?”
“Heh, you haven’t called me that in years…”
The paramedics quickly rushed to her side, taking the woman by the hands and carrying her off the stage on a stretcher.
New un-make-able socmed au idea: celine gets transported back in time by a demon to before rumi was born, but after she was conceived. past-poppy still doesnt know about the baby because miyeong still hasnt told them. past-celine is nowhere to be found, and present-celine cant remember this at all, but is trying to preserve the timeline, so she cant tell past-poppy about the pregnancy, and is in fact trying to avoid them altogether because of the pain (despite the joy) of seeing miyeong again and of having to lie to poppy.
past-poppy and miyeong, however, keep following her around, not only to find out what happens in their future AND what happened to past-celine and how to get her back, but also because they’re both EXTREMELY attracted to this milf version of celine. “the grey really suits you,” past-poppy says with hooded eyes, hanging off her shoulder and playing with her hair.
“yeah, cece, you aged like fine wine,” miyeong says from celine’s other side, cupping her bright red cheek and rubbing a thumb against her lips, “and like fine wine, i cant help but want a taste~”
stunned, celine lets them drag her around as she contemplates the morality of sleeping with the past version of her wife if she was already with said wife at the time and of sleeping with her dead lover one last time if there’s now a 30+ year age gap between this still-living miyeong and her. unfortunately for miyeong and past-poppy, she decides “probably not a great idea” and pulls away.
meanwhile, past-celine is dealing with the confusion and devastation of miyeong being missing (they don’t know how to break the news to her about her having died), a demon claiming to be only half a demon and miyeongs daughter, her demon kids, two hunters who also have patterns, and her now ~60 year old lover who claims that those demons are their family and also somehow they have a 2 year old daughter that is biologically theirs despite both the age and genital situation

"then there would be something tieing her to celine other than affection for a dead woman"
huntrix (+ celine? maybe?) time travel au right after the idol awards but rumi just looks at this woman who is supposedly her mother and all she can think is "that's it?".
She ends up spending most of her time with young Celine, who is just as devoted to Miyeong as she would be in the future. Rumi doesn't get it, doesn't get what's so great about this woman. What was it about her that could make someone as amazing as Celine spend her whole life catering to a ghost. She was selfish and rude and sometimes overbearing, nothing like the picture-perfect portrait Celine painted for her.
Oof.
I think what would strike Rumi is just how *young* the three of them seem. Now, at 25, she's only a few years older, but looking at them, she feels like she's looking at kids.
Her mother is a little too naive and confident. Energetic but in a way that was exhausting.
Celine's cheeks still had a layer of baby fat and she hadn't learned how to be comfortable with her stature.
And she knows in a year or two, Miyeong will be dead and Celine will have to raise a baby alone and --
Rumi barely feels like an adult right now. She can't imagine having a child and taking care of a baby.
I keep randomly seeing this post on my feed, and I’m very tempted to finally force myself to learn how to draw animals so I can draw Celine and Rumi like this as cats.
💬 23 🔁 74 ❤️ 200 · Mira was sitting in the closet when Celine found her. Scrunched up and hiding away like she’d committed a crime.
“Hell
Continuation from ^ Previous post started by @waterfire1848 and @lapapavale
Mira stayed tucked against her chest for the rest of the night. At one point, after getting them all into bed, Celine had Rumi tucked under her arm. Now both girls had a wet nose against her neck and were awkwardly crushing her chest.
Celine did nothing to change that though. Instead she scrolled through listings in Yeosu. A few she marked for later, but she wouldn’t do anything until she had more information from Eun-Kyung. She’d take the girls over to introduce them to Zoey. Reassure Mira as much as she needed. Hold Rumi back from playing to rough. Maybe she should offer to take them all out? Burbank had to have some decent park nearby. A good run would do her pups some good and give her an idea of what Zoey knew.
Actually. If Zoey was going to be around, Celine would need to work on a playground for them. Mira and Rumi would love it too. It’d need some tunnels, so she’d probably put it near the pond. The soft ground would work for when they inevitably taught Zoey how to dig too. Miyeong had loved swinging out over the pond, but that old rope had snapped long ago.
By the time Celine had compiled a list, her alarm for the day was close to ringing.
…
Mira was not happy about going to see the new pup. She’d dragged her feet in every way she could. Refused her shoes, hid her coat, and even tried to convince Rumi to talk Celine into a theater.
But. Eventually their rental car was in the driveway of a small but nice neighborhood. It was a bit more, drab in daylight. But a fresh coat of paint and some garden care would fix it.
“Girls behave.”
“Yes Celine,” two voices replied. Celine would have said something else but the door opened at that moment.
Eun-Kyung blinked at her with no sign of recollection. Her hair was pulled back neatly but only one eye seemed to have make up. Her clothes clashed as well, a bathrobe thrown over a blouse and sweatpants.
“No Girl Scouts today. Late for work.” She said in a brisk tone before trying to move around them. Celine reached out, to stop her, to grab her, to pull the girls aside? She wouldn’t be able to tell.
“So-yee, behave for the sitter!”
“Mama, wait!” Celine’s heart broke as her mind caught on to what she was seeing. Zoey latched onto her Mother’s waist, speaking in rapid English for her to stop, to go inside, to remember.
Celine coughed to interrupt. “Eun-Kyung, I’m Kang Celine. I’m here,”
“Gods I did it again, didn’t I?” Recognition burned across the woman’s face like a flare. “Zoey, baby,”
Celine felt like an intruder as she watched her lift her child to her hip and mutter soft apologies. “Let’s take this inside.”
“Right, yes.”
It wasn’t Celine’s place to do anything to the woman, even if it was to help. But she’d never forgive herself for letting a pack member suffer. She needed to get Eun-Kyung and her pup help. It didn’t matter if she had Zoey or not. This woman had been left alone in declining health. That was wrong.
Seong-woo was failing and had been for years, but regardless of what she’d done to Celine’s pack, she’d made sure the old Hunter was cared for.
“Girls go play,” Celine felt eyes linger before Mira hummed and tugged them away.
“Rumi and I watched Gremlins. Have you seen it?” The question opened a whole conversation as the trio left the entryway.
“I’m so sorry,” Eun-Kyung repeated. Celine let her. She didn’t have the experience or knowledge of what was happening but she could imagine how terrifying it was to suddenly be aware of things changing to fast. Actually. She had experience with that.
“Let’s talk over tea. Have you eaten? I know the pups will be hungry soon.”

Obviously the headcanon that Zoey wrote Sunlight Sisters fanfiction is really funny. And obviously the thought of Celine discovering said fanfiction and asking Zoey about it is even funnier. But I think we're all missing out on the potential of Celine knowing about it before she even recruited Zoey, and she keeps making references to it that to the average person seem innocuous but it's driving Zoey insane. Because Celine never makes those references when it's just her and Zoey. No, she waits until there are multiple people in the room, people who have no idea what fanfiction even is, and then says something that only someone who read one of Zoey’s fics will actually understand. And Zoey is losing her goddamn mind. Because this is Celine. A world-renowned pop star, a powerful hunter, and Zoey’s first celebrity crush. She shouldn't know about this stuff. She keeps trying to convince herself that it's just coincidences. That Celine just happens to say things that also appeared in her fanfics. But with each passing day, that idea becomes less and less plausible. Celine is fucking with her, and there's genuinely nothing she can do about it without sounding insane.
Headcanon - These yells are a kind of distress call for demons. When Rumi was much younger, Celine was out fighting demons one night and saw the pink lines coming from the house. It’s the only reason she was able to get back fast enough to save Rumi from being taken by a demon.
I do like a Deadbeat Mi-Yeong scenario where she and Third are trying to reconnect and reconcile with Celine but Rumi isn’t having it. This is before Rumi trains to be a hunter.
She doesn’t see them as sincere and believes they will just hurt her mom again. Rumi is very overprotective and she does find out that Mi-Yeong is bio mom but rejects her completely for Celine. Only reason she doesn’t consider outing Mi-Yeong and third for lying about who’s her birth mom is but is worried that she might be taken from Celine.
This all becomes more strained when Zoey and Mira enter the picture. It would also be fun for Rumi to be the “bad girl” of Huntrix since she would not like the industry and have her publicly state she is Celine’s daughter to show she’s not ashamed of who her mother is. Also I haven’t seen this mentioned but it would be cool if Rumi styled her hair after Celine’s.
Ooh yes.
Thinking in this version, Rumi is eleven when Miyeong and Seoyi appear in her mom's little flower shop (her mom hasn't been telling her, but she knows that things have been hard this year. It's not as bad as it was a few years ago but she knows that her mom has been holding off on replacing her work gear because she doesn't have the money to replace her work clothes *and* buy Rumi what she needs for school).
And Celine sees the two of them and tells Rumi to go upstairs.
Rumi, of course, sits, hidden, on the upper landing and strains her ears to hear the quiet argument that her mom is having with those two. (Who are they, Rumi wonders. Debt collectors? The mob?)
Celine: What are you doing here!?
Miyeong: We -- we saw you and --
Seoyi: Who was that girl, Celine? Was that --
Celine: Don't.
Seoyi: Celine --
Celine: Seoyi, if you even look that way again, I'm throwing you out of my shop.
Celine: Neither of you have the right to ask about her. Now if you're not going to buy something, then please leave.
Seoyi: Seriously? We thought you were dead, Celine. We thought --
Miyeong: Everything.
[Silence]
Celine: What.
Miyeong: We'll buy everything. Your entire inventory.
Seoyi: Miyeong what are you doing?
Miyeong: And there's an event in July where we're still looking for a florist. If you're interested.
And one contract had turned to another and then another and by the time Rumi is thirteen, business (especially the corporate event side) is steady enough that Celine is able to pay off all their debt and actually start saving money.
Slowly, extremely slowly, over the course of years, Celine and Miyeong and Seoyi manage to rebuild their relationship.
(Celine is... lonely. In this version, it's just been her and Rumi for a very long time and...
She acknowledges that this could be a mistake. But hunters... were never supposed to be alone. And Celine is a hunter to her bones, even if she's particularly poor one.)
(She still doesn't trust them to be alone with Rumi.)
All Rumi knows is that Celine doesn't like talking about Miyeong and Third and doesn't let her be alone with them (and every other time her mom is alone with Miyeong or Seoyi, she hears arguing or crying and her mom comes back with her eyes red.)
She comes to the conclusion that Miyeong and Seoyi have to be hurting Celine. And she might only be thirteen, but she needs to protect her mom.
Post-movie idea Rumi is embracing her demon side more which comes with the ability to see the emotions and souls of people along with their scars. Cut to her becoming extremely protective of Celine to a concerning degree cause Celine soul is covered in scars. Now everyone is trying to get Rumi to calm down and get Celine to therapy to finally address her problems. It goes as well as you expect.
The idea of Rumi seeing souls wouldn't leave me;
Everyone walked around with a soul that was utterly their own, Rumi realized the day after the Idol Awards and her vision still had not returned to normal.
(She would, in time, learn to control it. Though that would not be for some time.)
Zoey's was blue and yellow and like a cold glass of lemonade in summer and lit sparklers during new years.
Mira's was red and dark like velvet, like wine, like a thrumming heart.
(She sees Celine's by accident; they'd agreed to give each other the space they both needed after --
But well, Celine had an important meeting and Rumi had been in the office.
It had only been a few seconds, Rumi catching sight of Celine as she walked turned a corner, embroiled in a conversation with the COO and head of legal.
But it had been enough.)
Celine's was... it *had* been green, Rumi thinks, though *so much* of it was marred by dark scarring all through it that it looked like it was more scar than soul.
(It was not recent, the damage. Rumi had seen what new soul scars looked like -- raw, festering, glowing as though the life was leaking through it.)
(Celine's had new damage too, almost lost underneath the scars)
The next day, Rumi surprises Celine at her office with takeout from her favorite restaurant and tries to not stare at her soul.

Demon Miyeong running away from the Underworld with her baby. Coming across a sanctuary, a blind hope that the Demon King wouldn't find them there, only to be met with the sanctuary's Guardian.
Hence, Miyeong follows the gumiho. Unknown to her, this is the Guardian's trial if her soul is true. Despite the many obstacles, she endures while carrying and protecting her baby.
...
A service of indefinite time in exchange for safety in the sanctuary, under the watchful eyes of the two Guardians.
None of them actually remember the lyrics to What It Sounds Like because they came out naturally (Zoey calls it a 'Honmoon Mind Meld')
Rumi is stressed trying to find a video online after they're asked to sing it again, Zoey is convinced that they don't even need to write songs anymore now that they've unlocked this ability
Mira has to tell her to stop stressing Rumi out and help them figure out the lyrics lol
