Korean Title: ëŽê° í€ìŽ Sêžë€
This time a fan-made cover by s_class_potato that showcases a more complete cast list than the official cover. ââââ
What's It About: It's about the Power of Love! And never giving up! And what does it mean to be a parent, a partners, a friend, a brother?
Fantastically detailed world-building and fantastically realistic and fleshed out cast of characters and a fantastically unhinged unreliable narrator of an MC.
It starts out looking like a standard male OP fantasy, but that is very much a fakeout, and it is very very much a subversion of that genre - something that has unfortunately earned this novel much ire in the Korean dude webnovel reader sphere of the internet.
It is also one of the best examples of "time travel fixit" as a canon premise that I have ever seen.
After his estranged little brother - Korea's top S-Sank Hunter Han Yoohyun - dies saving the life of the pathetic F-Rank Hunter Han Yoojin, Han Yoojin gets the opportunity to turn back time by 5 years and gain a new uber-powerful Skill that lets him 'nurture' S-Rank hunters to their full potentials - both humans and monsters.
Yoojin is determined to just chill and prove himself by supporting Yoohyun, but it's not so easy especially as he finds more and more people to love and care about. And also this one annoyingly fascinating and useful guy - the current #1 hunter Sung Hyunjae - who had disappeared from the public eye in mysterious circumstances before Yoojin turned back time - keeps finding him fascinating and useful too and won't leave him alone.
Webtoon Adaptation
Yes, there is a webtoon adaptation of it with an official English translation: My S-Class Hunters. There are 152 chapters in S1, which adapt roughly the first 160ish chapters of the novel, and the webtoon is currently on hiatus with work ongoing on S2. ETA: S2 is out, babey!! Released April 20th! Not in English yet though, but it can be Found.
The art is beautiful, and it is a very good work in its own right but it does adapt things more comedically than the novel. It makes for a pretty funny reading experience, but it leaves out enough of the (plot-relevant!) emotional bits as well as changes up certain plot points for better visuals that I would recommend reading (or at least skimming) from the start for anyone coming in from the webtoon.
Where to Read The Original
I.E. The novel in Korean: The complete story is 1165 Chapters
Main Story: 856 Chapters + 14 Epilogue Chapters (870 Chapters)
Side Story: 167 Chapters
Afterwords: 128 Chapters
These are now available on Naver, Ridibooks and Kakaopage.
Naver is horrendous to use internationally
Kakaopage is the easiest to use internationally IMO, and has a lot of freebies points. With enough grinding one can probably get all the webnovel chapters for free, while still showing support to Geunseo
Ridi is quite convenient too and often has sale events. Ridi is a more slash-friendly and female-reader friendly platform overall and has a more positive and shippier comment section I think.
However! Before you buy: One thing to note is that there are two versions of the text - a webnovel version and an ebook version. Yes, the text itself is different between the two.
Webnovel version: The ones that you can buy one-chapter-at-a-time and what you'll usually find on the đŽââ ïž sites. Side Story and After Words only exist as webnovel chapters as of April 2026.
Ebook version: The 870 chapters of the main novel are also available as 35-volume set of ebooks.
- Ebooks version has many added emotional beats and scenes (mostly of the homoerotic nature)
- Ebooks version also has many "extras" - additional chapters and short stories, often from the perspectives of characters other than Yoojin, that often add a lot of great characterisation and world-building information.
Apart from this there also exist some physical book sets but not in English - currently there is a Korean physical bookset of 10 volumes (with hopefully many more to come), and a Taiwanese bookset as well, and both these physical booksets have more unique "extras" in them as well.
If anyone decides to throw money at Geunseo for this, I would personally recommend going for the ebooks over the webnovel chapters.
Where to read the Translations!
1. SFS Translations (Chapters 1-460s)
- They use the ebook versions of the chapters.
- One needs to contact them for access to their locked/gdocs version (access can take a few days, but generally not more than 3-5 days)
- This is currently the most detailed and accurate translation, and the only one that includes the ebook extras, as far as I know.
2. Teleportal's MTL Epub: Main Novel (Ch 350-870) PDF and EPUB + Side Stories EPUB and PDF & After Words EPUB and PDF
- It uses webnovel chapters
- It is the only version for the Side Stories and After Words available in English
- While it is MTL, it is IMO one of the best MTL translations I have seen till date and very readable and understandable, and personally I would recommend it over the other edited MTL translations such as Mattreading and Freewebnovel.
3. MattReading Translations (Chapters 1-760s)
- This uses the webnovel chapters, and the earlier chapters use an older unedited versions of the webnovel chapters.
- This is on Wordpress, with last 20 chapters Patreon-locked
- The main/current translation linked on NovelUpdates.
- They are upto Ch 760+ as of April 2026, but (this is my speculation) are primarily edited MTL using the opennovel engine as far as I can tell. Pretty readable in terms of natural-sounding English, however later chapters get into some pronoun trouble and also character mixups last I checked.
4. FreeWebnovel (Chapters 1-782)
- MTL of webnovel chapters and early unedited raws
- I think this is the version one will find in epub/PDF files of early chapters if one goes looking on the usual epub sites
- There is apparently a site called empirenovel too, but it's just this version copied there.
Other than the story itself, the author has also done extensive Q&As, which detail out a ton of worldbuilding and characterization notes and @a-sctir-a-day has been doing MTL translations of the Q&As.

You have SUCH good takes on Mairuma it's such a joy to have such smart people in the fandom đ„ș
Aahh, thank you so much for your appreciation! â€ïž
I completely missed my inbox notifications, so getting to this after a while đ
But Mairuma has been so much fun! I picked it up on a whim, and was expecting a breezy fun comedy story - which is totally is! But the depth of consistent characterization and the strong cast and strength of story and world-building was such a great surprise!
And the number of official spinoffs đł Wow, Nishi-sensei is ensuring such a glut of delicious delicious food! I am caught up on Irumafia and the Boku Alliance spin-off too now, and man - I love all of the characters and their versions so damn much!
I am kind of laughing at myself for when I started and where I caught up - I really have a huge tendency of picking up and catching up to new ongoing canons shortly before Major Things Go Down.
But very excited to see where the main story is going to go.
I started following you a while ago, for your sctir posts, but recently, your many posts on gsgw, made me a bit interested and i checked it out.... and TT OMG! thank you so much!! I love it in here! This story is awesome! thank youu for indirectly getting me into it! and now i can make more sense of posts on gsgw!!
Ahhh! You're welcome, anon!
Fandom-wise S-Classes is still my darling baby, but GSGW is also so much fun! Especially with the live chapters coming out - it's so exciting!
But glad to hear my posts made you interested in checking it out! Who are your faves so far? đ

Since I recently finished rereading Part 1, I was marveling again at just how completely disconcertingly actively suicidal KSE actions as viewed from DMB/Hyunmoo 1 perspective*
And given that the latest incidence in Part 3 (Ch 385) is sudden sirens as someone invades the facility, with one potential candidate being DMB having successfully tracked down his location thanks to Lee Gyeol keeping the line open for hours.
I suddenly thought of how, post the shopping expedition in the Rest Area, the main possessions KSE has on his right now are:
A bottle of very strong vodka
Extra-strength painkillers
Sleeping pills
Um. I hope Choi or Jaekwan don't catch him with these. đ The misunderstandings have got to stop, Choi isn't a fumbler, he's just a little guy with a 0.5/5 luck stat at best đ
(Though we know KSE's got to find the door too in the next few chapters. Presumably he will be accompanied through the door by someone who is part of the intruder group. DMB is definitely my strongest guess right now. While I am hoping for Choi, honestly it being Haegeum or maybe Chogae wouldn't be amiss too. Maybe GYE who's become a DMB agent for real in the last 3 years? Ideally whoever it is, if it is DMB, it should be someone from a Cheongryong team, right? Since they'd be back to being the Rescue unit now?)
* -> (that long rambling note seeming to share all bits of information including small random stuff and huge life changing stuff without proper order, with a lot of apologies interspersed with it; giving away all his meager possessions - aka the items (nostalgia candy and the painkillers)

Watched the latest Mairuma - cute episode though with a lot of filler! I like how even the filler is about important personality related information about the characters.
But I really liked that they changed up the number of VR machines Azz bought for the anime.
When I had read this particular Sukima in the manga, it had for sure rubbed me a tiny bit the wrong way because why 2? What about Clarin, Azz-Azz?
It stayed with me enough that I immediately noticed when the anime said 3 machines and went back to double check, and yeppp. It's a change.
[Um⊠most caller-employees donât actually understand the costs, so it usually doesnât get to that point. And the cost is rarely money. âŠItâs labor. This caller will most likely be processed as working at a branch office for several years.]
Kwak Jekang in Ch 216 tells us one way in which people end up at branch offices. Did Jin Nasol end up in big time debt to the company?
Spin the wheel again. Thatâs whoâs trying to protect you.
(If you have zero idea about a name you got, spin until you see someone you recognize.)
Are you safe?
Absolutely not. I'm dead. 100% dead.
I might stay alive, but it'll be a really close thing.
I'll take some hits, for certain, but I should be okay in the end.
A few attacks might get through, but nothing concerning.
The attacker might be able to get in one lucky hit. If that.
I am the opposite of worried. I'm 100% safe.
âŠLook. I've tried picturing this. But I honestly don't know how to answer.
Remaining time: 2 days 3 hours
(I've run this poll twice before, expanding it significantly for the second run. With about a year passed since that second run, I thought it was time to add another couple hundred names to the list and have another go.)
Since that one post about this by @viscari-a I have been paying extra attention to all the KSE and Choi convos in my reread. I'm in post-Mermaid Tomb era and so far...
KSE really doesn't say much in response to Choi.
But also, internal narration wise, holy-shit does Choi seem to make him experience every emotion under the sun and he constantly constantly has to remind himself not to get swept away and forget his ultimate goal is to go home.
Choi also truly seems to be the one who gets him to stop 'playing roles' and burst out with his real feelings quite often. There are always extenuating circumstances (he's stressed, he's a child) but most of the outbursts so far, where he's a bit surprised at having said that after, are with Choi.
Interested to see how this the Big Fumbles will go in detail.
(Also GYE's pov on KSE is soooo fucking funny. In front of her, KSE generally 'stops pretending' a lot, but his persona so strong that GYE is left staring at KSE saying wacko stuff about how he's more of a paperwork guy and ohhh he's so scared and ohhh that's just a coincidence and ohhh but we GOTTA save those people that's LOGICAL. Is he lying? Is he crazy? No, he's too competent, he has to be just blatantly lying and acting the fuck up, right?!)
(Also I think she definitely has a very mild hint of jealousy in her about KSE being the top recruit. GYE gives me the vibes of someone who is used to being top of the class until recently, so I feel she often has a mild hint of that in her always when dealing with KSE (in the beginning at least) IIRC she brought up being one of the top 3 recruits, and then usually KSE's top recruit status is something she often brings up when thinking of KSE.)

'Paradise of Love' aka the people who ran Heowoon's orphanage aka the people potentially involved in the latest part 3 shenanigans were first mentioned in Red Cloth ghost story resolution?!
HUH.
That's real early.
Also, branch offices mentioned by Bak Saheon! Yes, a lot of people were suddenly getting reassigned from HQ to branch offices around the time that the Ho Project started.
I feel this is somewhat supportive of the idea that there are/were more executives than just Ho and Cheong. As Ho got closer to his goal and more and more wrapped in Special Project work, maybe they started using that opportunity to strengthen their positions in various Branch offices, assuming impending explosion of HQ in the aftermath of the clearly looming Ho vs Cheong showdown.
Ho initially was also from a Branch Office before getting promoted to HQ, iirc? So presumably these other potential directors all have their own respective Branch offices that are their strongholds?

every single time Choi tried to get Soleum to open up (to no avail) in part 1 (Segment 1 / ?, covering up to ch 166). This is directly related to my analysis of Soleumâs fumble in part 2, but both can be read on their own! Just giving additional context.
I will explain it to the best of my ability but keep in my mind that âopening upâ can mean a lot of things, and there are lots of ways to âmake it easier for someone to talk to youâ. Iâve thought about such things for a while so it gets hard to gauge how much explanation is needed; if anyone gets confused on any point, just lmk!
this ends up being a not very serious analysis but I think my point gets across
disclaimer that the k.lee interactions (29, 30) would also affect Choiâs judgement of Soleum and expectations of how Soleum would react. This wouldnât show outwardly for obvious reasons: imo itâs important because he probably doesnât think itâll be easy to get Soleum to open up, so he would A. Put in more effort and/or B. Have more questionable intentions than just getting a hoobae to open up. B becomes relevant on how he interact with Soleum, and Iâll point it out as needed. Um, for fun. Itâs not all that relevant to the focus of this post.
Chapter 143
Choi asks a question showing concern, offers food, removes the room of silence (itâs harder to speak up if it requires breaking silence) and gives a cheerful greeting, gives a compliment + includes Soleum into a group (âthatâs exactly the kind of thinking we needâ). Soleum doesnât respond to any of this, so
Choi voluntarily gives up info first (his name). He then goes silent for a quite a while, lol, gauging Soleumâs reaction and letting Soleum respond instead of continuing to fill the silence. This is an example of B; heâs creating pressure instead of continuing to maintain an easy atmosphere. When someone gives you info (name, location, whatever), it makes it easier for you to give that same info, and names are in particular are an expected social nicety especially when someone else just gave theirs. Soleum does not give his name.
Choi switches back to being approachable. He closes the emotional distance (offers to let Soleum call him âsunbaeâ) and shows concern for Soleumâs arm. He then reassures Soleum, and creates a sense of reliability by saying itâll be taken care of. Soleum doesnât respond.
so, (maybe thinking that Choi is the issue, Choi) brings in another person. He couldâve brought Bronze in at any point, and thereâs no way he forgot Bronze was waiting outside. This does, in fact, work. So Choi continues this route and uses Bronzeâs presence to once again compliment Soleum before, um, technically strong-arming Soleum into a decision in the most casual way ever. He holds his hand out. Soleum doesnât take it. He doesnât respond to the compliment. Choi prompts Soleum and does the familiarity thing again (âsunbaeâ). Soleum avoids eye contact and rejects the offer. [not really related but itâs fun reading Choiâs âyou have to join!â desperation with the knowledge of what Choi knows]
Choi has a sense that Soleum is acting. He could call Soleum out or say heâs lying, but both of those things could create distance and make Soleum defensive (defensiveness is the worst enemy to getting someone to open up). So he pretends to accept it. He does his âIâm saying this out of concernâ manipulation thing; itâs ruined by Jaekwan. Soleum responds to Jaekwan.
continues creating familiarity. This will be a running theme. Changes tactics by bringing up the people Soleum saved; probably sees a reaction, but Soleum doesnât respond.
empathizes with Soleum (âFeels good, doesnât it?â). Soleum doesnât respond. Soleum does respond to Jaekwan, and Choi lets Jaekwan lead them out interrupting. After all, by this point, itâs quite obvious that Soleum responds more to Jaekwan than to Choi. Itâs better to not force it, as that could make Soleum uncomfortable. This is probably why Choi doesnât say a direct farewell; it could ruin the atmosphere and he probs wouldnât get a response. Instead, he directs his words to Jaekwan to show how much he wants Soleum on the team.
146+. Choi leans towards intimidation in these chapters due to the circumstances, so part of this focuses more on âgetting Soleum to talkâ than âgetting Soleum to open upâ
Cheerful voice + smiling eyes, which is more approachable and easier to talk to than something intimidating. Physical contact (also intimidation + prevents running away). Gives information. Asks Soleum an easy, unimportant question (thatâs kinda probing) to prompt a response. Soleum doesnât respond. He switches tactics.
Since first approach doesnât work, he goes more intimidating. Even in this intimidation heâs pretty friendly; he offers up information when he doesnât need to, and explains how he figured out who Soleum is. Wouldnât it be more intimidating if he didnât explain? Of course, this also ensures that Soleum wonât pretend to be someone else, so itâs multipurpose. To make this clear, giving up info about yourself usually makes the other person more comfortable (and willing to talk). This is pretty case dependent (names, age, pronouns, etc are safe bets), and if you go too far then it goes back to making the person uncomfortable, btw. Still, he goes really heavy on the intimidation. Instead of responding meaningfully, Soleum pretends to not know him
Subtly goes against Soleumâs manipulation, which Soleum realizes and responds to. Intimidation via probing and silence, which Soleum responds to. Haha, Soleum responds pretty well to traps. At a certain point theyâd just go in circles, so Choi moves the convo on. Lessens the intimidation. Makes physical contact. Reasonably points out his reasoning without being patronizing or judgmental. Soleum goes quiet. He doesnât address anything Choi said in his own response, and brushes everything Choi said off very neatly with a âEven so,â.
stuff happens. Soleum does meaningfully affect Choi by handing over the note. Choi spends time showing Soleum around and giving meaningful advice. Itâs implied that Soleum is silent during most of this. The next response weâre shown is in relation to the note that Soleum gave. So, Soleum doesnât respond to any of Choiâs efforts of being helpful and creating familiarity, but does respond when it comes to his own manipulation
152 - Choi talks a bunch and Soleum doesnât respond to any of it. Itâs more Choi being Choi than anything manipulative, but there are like 5 lines of dialogue from Choi and 3 lines of ââŠâŠâ from Soleum. I think this is why fandom perceives Choi as overtly talkative but imo anyone else would have reasonably resounded to at least 4 of those lines. Even Jaekwan probs would have at least said âShut up.â So, this is more indicative of Soleum and how little he verbally responds to Choi
154 - on one of the rare times that Soleum responds directly to Choi without Choiâs prompting, Choi gives him positive reinforcement, lol
Throughout ocean palace arc, Soleum is more likely to give a direct verbal response, like since itâs a mission. This does show (to us and Choi) that Soleum can be more responsive when needed, and that he⊠just doesnât want to normally, when it comes to Choi. 153/early 154 also shows how heâs far more likely to give verbal responses to Jaekwan than to Choi
164- physical contact. Gives praise. Acknowledges a suspicious thing in a light hearted manner without pressing or overtly questioning the issue. In combination with the praise, he creates an opportunity for Soleum to elaborate on how he knew or to be proud of himself. Soleum gives a noncommittal response
165 - introduces Soleum to an important person and heals him quickly, when he didnât have to. This shows Choiâs care for Soleum. More importantly, introducing Soleum to the Elder is a show of preemptive trust, and would help make Soleum âpart of the teamâ. Showing trust is a good way of forming closer bonds, which then leads to comfort and opening up. This is, in particular, is also Choi being vulnerable, since the Elder is important to him and is in a vulnerable position. Well, there a multiple of ways this could be manipulative (forcing Soleum into the team, having the Elder check if Soleum is a good person), but Soleum seems to be under the impression that it isnât. So it could entirely be a show of genuine faith. Not intentional manipulation so it doesnât really fit on this list, but it is an example of Choi showing faith that doesnât respond to
166 - Choi once again lets Soleum know of his accomplishments and the people heâs saved, probably because he can tell how much it means to Soleum. He checks on Soleum is feeling,,, Soleum doesnât respond LOL. He probs kept talking after Soleum was quiet for long enough, with the assumption that Soleum wouldnât reply. Accurate assumption, btw. Including a screen shot because itâs funny to remember than Soleum is just awkwardly being silent during this whole monologue, despite being asked a direct question. Isnât this basically that Death Note meme?
im about halfway thru my Choi appearances list and this post is already long, so ill cut it here and do a second part,,, three parts depending on how much analysis 193-195 ends up being.
to be honest, it might be more effective to make a compilation of screenshots of Soleum responding to Choi with ââŠâ like
come on kiddo. If I somehow calculated the amount of words said to each other, i feel like itâd be a 100:1 ratio, with Choi saying 100 words for 1 of Soleumâs. Not counting their arguments, but you knowâŠ.
Choi is stronger than me ă ă no way I could keep up a monologue to someone whoâs not responding
I was waiting with great interest to see KSE's first meeting with Ho after Mermaid Grave.
Knowing what we know now about him, I was wondering if we would see any unusual reaction to KSE rescuing all of the kids stuck in the Darkness.
He 'listened with great interest and even clapped his hands in delight'.
But KSE at this point definitely 100% believes all the friendliness is a complete sham, so he usually doesn't take any note of anything being unusual here, and instead focuses on HYW's showing discomfort about and revulsion towards DMB and calling them hypocrites.
But Ho really is sooo cheerful and friendly and accommodating and attentive! No wonder KSE was weirded out and wary.'
And lol, not KSE also going 'maybe Ho is a decent boss as long as you don't smash his triggers'
ETA timeline for future ref: Rereading Part 1 / Live on Ch 385
The more I think about it, the more I kind of like the 'Colleague' translation of Han Yoojin's contact for Sung Hyunjae. It feels a bit more natural than "Business Associate", and retains that meaning of 'Equals but in a Work Context'. (I would like to just add a Mr. to keep that -ssi flavor too. Mr. Colleague)
But also. I don't think Yoojin ever updated his contact after this, did he? He updated his vocabulary and started calling him 'Partner' more and more eventually, but I don't think we ever saw him update the contact.
So potentially, we have a situation post-canon, where Han Yoojin and Sung Hyunje are calling each other things like 'Parenting Partner' and 'Yeobo' and '62nd Wife'.
But Yoojin's contact still says 'Mr. Colleague'.
In a scenario where this gets called out/brought up explicitly - Sung Hyunje would pout and pretend sob so much.
And Yoojin would definitely be flustered and trying to awkwardly apologize and comfort HJ while also being aggro about having done nothing wrong actually.
I can envision Yoojin awkwardly throwing his phone at Hyunje for him to enter the contact himself, the way Hyunje did all that time ago.
And HJ is gobsmacked but then he tries to jokingly put in '62nd Wife'* and gets smacked and evil-cat-stared at for his trouble, and Yoojin snatches his phone back and puts in something genuinely sincere and sappy and makes HJ surprised and 'feel ticklish' (as they say).
Oh gasp! This as the end point of The Aquarium Date (TM).** Officially re-defining their relationship again.
What should be the final contact update on Yoojin's end? đ€ Not sure about this yet...
** (which I am convinced has to be the turning point in the relationship. Yoojin can no longer keep sticking his head in the sand, once Aquarium date happens, and Yoojin knows this and Guenseo knows this, which is why we're not going to see it happen in canon unfortunately đ„Č)
* One of my headcanons re:YJ and HJ's relationship is that ever since they decided to be partners, the reason HJ has ended up taking a backseat is because he doesn't really know how to treat people as 'equals' as opposed to 'subordinates'. So he ends up over-correcting and this, combined with that promise to wait for Yoojin to catch-up, what this has actually ended up doing is creating a dynamic where Hyunje will mostly still do things on his own, and have all of his contingencies and plans ready to play out - but will crucially always first wait to see what Yoojin will do, and deploy plans accordingly.
He will jokingly (but not really jokingly) do things like calling himself married to Yoojin in front of others, BUT he won't ever seriously talk about it and it will be a 'joke' that Yoojin can dismiss until Yoojin decides to take it seriously.
Kang Hiyak and Baek Saheon are a fucking hilarious duo, truly. Dumb and Dumber, Greedy and Greedier.
I was paying more attention to Jin Nasol, and I am wondering if she might already have headache issues. There are a couple of mentions of temples twitching, and one headache disappearing in the face of excitement - which ordinarily I would have completely ignored as metaphorical or just instance-based. She is high-strung and she has a headache because of Pony and Goat antics etc.
But given her situation in part 3, I am wondering if it's going to turn out that Jin Nasol always had debilitating headaches, and this was actually part of her reasons for working at Daydream. Maybe she was building points to get a Wish Potion to permanently cure her headaches, while also constantly having to use points for short-term cure potions.
