I actually want to ask you about the source to read a classes that I raised
I know you talked about them before.
I read before from SF translations and I really liked them then I dropped the novel for a while. Now I want to reread but there are other translation in nu
Which I've do you think better and more accurate? SF or the new one in nu Mattreading translation??
I want to ask you about something else 🥺
It seems you really enjoyed this novel is not my novel.i like it too but the thing that makes me reluctant to read it is the fact that mc is engaged 🥲I really don't like romance and I see potential in romance between him and his fiancée. I know they signed a contract to break off the engagement but I highly doubt it's gonna happen...you know that cliche especially since the fiancée obviously gonna love him
SFS is definitely a lot more accurate.
I think initially SFS's early chapters were a bit spotty, because they were continuing off of another previous translation, and were learning the language 'on the job' so there was more MTL-editing earlier. But from what I know, now they are doing a proper translation, and I think they have also gone back and redone the translations of some early chapters.
I think some of the early chapters on Mattreading are quite good, but unfortunately the quality of later chapters seems to have deteriorated, with a lot of mistakes on the pronouns of characters (last I read, Gyeol was being translated as being a girl), and even character names (Seok Simyeong is Seok Gimyeong for some reason, even though those are two different characters! SGY is a minor one-off character, and SSY is a minor recurring character). My current understanding is that MR translation is actually lightly edited MTL, possibly using the OpenNovel platform or something similar. That said, I haven't kept up with this one anymore, so I am not sure if the quality has improved again or not.
It's still readable and of course, the MR translation is a lot further along than SFS.
That said, if you want to read the chapters beyond SFS, I would actually whole-heartedly recommend @tele-portal's MTL translations. They are 100% completed including Side Stories and After Stories, and in my opinion the quality is as good, or even slightly better than some of the later MR chapters, which is almost certainly MTL anyway. And it is one of the best and most readable/natural MTL translations I have encountered till date. Someone could it passed this off as actual translation and I would have believed it - huge kudos to tele-portal for being truthful and upfront about the nature of the work!
Also taking the opportunity to yap about the 18+ fandom server on discord! We have just started a server reread/readalong (we are on Ch 20ish right now, 5 chapters per week), so definitely come join if this sounds like something that would be of interest!
Re: This Novel is Not My Novel - as far as I can tell, it doesn't seem likely that the het relationship would take center-stage over the MC's relationship with the "original MC". The author's other novel Duke, Please Repent also seems to be classified in "Non-BL BL", and that's how this one is reading so far.
I have not read Duke, Please Repent however, so IDK if eventually the het wins or not. The fiancee character in This Novel is Not My Novel, Vigdis, is very cool, and the MC clearly cares about her - but she is also very much a secondary character.
I would say it's actually a fairly Scum Villain (without explicit BL) sort of situation going on here, because in the "original novel" that MC has transmigrated into as a minor villain, had all the female characters including the fiancee eventually becoming a series of love-interests for the "original MC" (Leysir/Raysir) (but given the genre was tragedy, all of them eventually died off one-by-one, so no harem), so he actually keeps thinking about them 'naturally' eventually catching feelings for the "original MC".
That said, it's an ongoing work, and not actually labelled as BL, so it's difficult to say what will eventually happen with any certainty. I guess it could end with het? I would love to know how it went in "Duke, Please Repent" myself.
