By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.

There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.

That's queerbaiting.

Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.

The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.

i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience

One thing that „self-optimization“ influencers will often not tell you is that self-optimizing only goes as far as your self can reach. 

There are absolutely things you can do to improve your wellbeing which you can do all by yourself - some even without leaving the house! You can learn new stuff with the help of books or online resources, and that covers a wide range from practical skills like „learning a language to keep your brain fit“ to typical healthier habits like „learning how to cook nutrient-rich recipes to support your physical health“ to mental health support like „learning how to use journaling for emotional regulation“. 

Next to „mastering a new skill“, there is of course also „learning to understand you and the world around you better“. You can read up on nearly anything from the comfort of your home, that’s one of the great things about the internet: how to actually prepare vegetables in yummy ways, how to get into yoga as an absolute beginner, how to meditate, how to deal with anger in healthy ways, how to paint, how to reduce anxiety, how to communicate better, how to be an active listener, how to meet new friends… yeah, and that’s also where it kinda reaches its limits. 

You see, you can teach yourself Swedish vocabulary - but if you never actually talk to anyone in Swedish, you’ll get no feedback on where your pronunciation is wrong. Your self can put in the hours learning and that’s amazing, but it can not provide the social feedback. Just like that, you can read a hundred articles until you understand exactly why you developed an intense fear of strangers and you can become an expert on reflecting on that fear, and that can be helpful! That newfound understanding and reflection can reduce shame and increase your feeling of agency which can absolutely improve your life - but you can not understand the anxiety away. Your self can not provide the social feedback that makes your brain go „hey, I just talked to a stranger and I survived, so next time I’ll be a little less scared“. You actually need to interact with a stranger for that. 

The point here isn’t „You can not meaningfully improve your life anyway, just give up“. (And because people on tumblr tend to take things very literal, let me also quickly add that the point isn’t „If you have anxiety, you need to immediately jump at the next stranger you see with absolutely no preparation or safety net“ - that’d backfire.) 

The point is just: No amount of theoretical knowledge will just magically fix everything. Any person who tries to tell you that you can „optimize“ every area of your life all by yourself with no outside help ever is lying to you. And anyone who tries to shame or guilt you into believing you’re a failure for not being able to do it is first of all an asshole and second of all likely trying to scam you into buying some „self care“ product that will not replace community care anyway.
