"he would not fucking say that" but its about a character being a leftist. he would not fucking believe that
media literacy is knowing when a character would say "i dont vote. why are you bringing politics into this?" no matter how mad it makes you to hear somebody irl say the same thing
This goes for a good amount of the characters who are complained about "oh no they were a cop in the timeskip", a lot of the time they wouldn't have an issue with being a cop and it is perfectly in character.
The number of people who go like 'my beloved war criminal blorbo!' but then act like you poured a drink on them if you suggest they'd be a Republican is honestly pretty funny.
ok thereβs been enough reblogs from enough people on enough various posts of mine that now i need to stand up for the bitches who donβt fuck of the world. people arenβt writing bad smut because of a lack of having sex. they are writing it because a lot of people have very poor visualization skills and forget halfway through what position characters are supposed to be in, or donβt understand what makes a word a good or bad choice, or canβt create compelling dynamics. i promise that even the sexually inactive, by virtue of also existing within the human form, would know that if youβre behind someone you canβt lick their nipple. and i promise that the frequently sexually active are equally prone to using the word βmewled.β i can pretty much guarantee that having a lot of sex and writing good sex scenes are unrelated. do you think your favorite horror authors are cutting people up in their basements. do you think your favorite food critics are michelin chefs. do you think the people blocking cool combat scenes in movies are routinely getting into cage fights. no they just understand how to utilize tone, pacing, momentum, and the tools of film direction, while keeping action tied to character. like believe it or not this is simply a skill like everything else. idk i always think that that point of view shows a lack of understanding of what makes a sex scene work. it removes the craft of it in a way i find short-sighted. i think people are confused about the reason teenagers are writing bad sex scenes. itβs not because theyβre not fucking, itβs because they are young and havenβt had the years to hone their writing craft the way someone older has.
Actually, no, I don't think that friendships dropping like flies in your late 20s and early 30s because no one has time for that between overwork and family obligations and marriage and kids and partners and the ritual of the time slayer is normal and ok. No I don't think deep conversations and spontaneous adventures being replaced with a tired coffee every six months is a normal part of growing up. I don't think that emotional intimacy and soul bonds disintegrating in the face of practical inconvenience is a fact of life. I think that means something is deeply deeply wrong with our society and I will never forgive it for the friends I've lost
I don't think having to treat caring for ourselves and our families as a part-time afterthought is normal or healthy. I don't think putting our kids under surveillance because we don't have the time or energy to be present in their lives is a good idea either. I think the above two facts are corroding our ability to come together as a community, and it's a big reason we're so willing to outsource our autonomy to fascists.
I feel that we as a fandom are not being sufficiently appreciative of Tonyβs explanation of the fight with Ebony Maw being βHeβs from space. He came here to steal a necklace from a wizard.β
What I love about that moment is that it shows just how good a communicator Tony is in a combat situation and how accustomed he is, by now, to command.Β He knew Peter wouldnβt blow him off if he said something ludicrous, so he gave him exactly what he would need to understand the situation in two bare bones sentences. He said less than a haiku. He didnβt even have to say which side he and Peter were on, becauseΒ βfrom spaceβ andΒ βcame to stealβ implied that information.
And then when they actually got hold of Strange, all he had to say wasΒ βThatβs the wizardβ and Peter knew a) exactly what was going on and b) exactly what to do.Β

Good Reporters Ask Why (S6 Finale)
Okay, listen. I was loving Alya through so much of S6. I was even thinking this girl would make a great Guardian - until the finale. Don't get me wrong - she's had some great moments in S6. But by the end of the season, I felt like she'd fallen back into her old personality traps, and I finished the episode feeling sooooooo frustrated.
Remember back in S1 when Marinette said Alya was always jumping to conclusions? It still applies. Yes, Alya worked out that Gabriel was Monarch - but she never paused to ask her supposed best friend just why she felt so compelled to hide this information. Even after all she knows, and all sheβs witnessed, she isn't giving Marinette the benefit of the doubt. Instead of talking to Marinette about everything, she jumped straight to anger, judgment, and even borderline rejection.
The kicker is that she hasnβt really uncovered Marinette's secrets at all. Namely, she still doesn't know:Β
* Why Gabriel was Monarch (honestly, why didnβt she think to ask this?)
* Adrien's origins (and, by extension, Felix and Kagami's origins)
* What Gabriel was plotting
* What happened to Adrien's mother
* What actually went down in that basement, and what specifically passed between Gabriel and Marinette
* Nathalie's part in everything
* Tomoe's role in everything
* That the rings exist, or how they've been usedΒ
* That Cat Blanc ever happened
* Marinette's feelings about any of it (Alya can see that her friend is breaking down and sheβs just adding to it, giving her ultimatums rather than a listening ear)
Letβs be real: Adrien does need to know the truth. Alya is 100% right about that. And he will find out. It's just a matter of time. And when it all comes out, itβs going to be so much worse than it wouldβve been if Marinette had told him at the start. But weβre not talking about some adult with a full support network, here. Weβre talking about an overburdened, traumatised child. As much as it kills me that Marinette has been keeping all these secrets, I completely understand why she did what she did. I also understand why Alya is so upset now. But whereβs the compassion? Whereβs the conversation?
Even if there is a conversation, a lot of Marinette's secrets arenβt really hers to tell. Alya has no automatic right to know about Adrien's origins or family history. Alya keeps reminding Marinette that friends are meant to trust each other - but that goes both ways. Alya didnβt trust her about the drama with Lila, or when Marinette told her Adrien didn't want to go on that tour, and now she isnβt trusting that there might be things going on that Marinette is not at liberty to share. And all these claims that it's not Alya's fault, it's because Marinette has demonstrated such crazy behaviour, etc. etc. just don't land with me. I'm not saying Marinette is perfect. Far from it. I've made no secret of how frustrated all her lying in S6 makes me, too. But just because someone has their own learning points, that doesn't negate the harm that's being done to them. Underneath all that panic, Marinette is a rational human being, and she deserves to be treated as such.
If we think back to S1, Alya used to be such a squealing, Ladybug fangirl - when Ladybug wasn't a real person to her. It's such a classic case of βnever meet your heroesβ. As soon as she found out, her attitude changed. The first time she got to use the ladybug miraculous herself, she was sighing at Marinette's list of rules and tips. Even towards the end of S6, she was rolling her eyes at Cat Noir and getting irritated with him for attempting to save her own best friend rather than following her plan - as if her way of doing things was the only way to do things. Now, she thinks her way is the only way regarding Adrien, and if Marinette doesn't comply, I guess it's over.
But Marinette doesn't need rejection and anger. She needs HELP.
I so wish we had seen Marinette tell Alya about the new butterfly holder invading her home. I wish we'd seen Alya regret having judged Marinette as simply paranoid - yet again. I hope so much that we get to see Alya learn who the butterfly holder is. I hope we see her reflect on the long history with Lila. I just want to see her take Marinette seriously, and respect her as someone strong and intelligent and struggling with something that is simply too much for any one person - let alone a child - to carry. Because itβs easy to judge from the outside - but the fact is, no one else has been in Marinette's position. Alya has never been the Guardian. She wasn't in that basement with Gabriel. She's never had to make these kinds of decisions. She's never held her boyfriend's literal life in her hands.
All that said...Alya is just a child, too, the same as Marinette. Sheβs also learning, making mistakes, and hopefully going to grow from them. I hope we see all of that, too. And I hope, in S7, we see Marinette find real, adult support from her parents. I hope someone just gives her a damn hug, already.
Also, I'd love to see Sabine take on Nathalie - and Tomoe, for that matter. I adore Nathalie as a character, but seriously. There is so much flack in this fandom for Marinette, Felix and Kagami, but every one of them is a victim of child abuse, just like Adrien. It's the adults like Nathalie, Tomoe and Amelie who have so much to answer for. They're the ones who knew what was happening all along - who knew what was being done to these children - and who did nothing about it, or even aided it.
That is the story. That is the truth. Monarch's identity is only the tip of the iceberg. Good reporters ask why. I only hope that, given time and growth, Alya begins to ask this, too.
I love me a post-war percy jackson that doesn't know what he wants, never could even imagine that he'd made it here so he doesn't have any projects or ambitions. He loves his girlfriend and his friends and his family and his life is great, but there's no expecting. He spent the last of his teenage years slowly waiting for summer to come again so he could go back to camp, now nothing is really stopping him. He has a future to look foward to but doesn't really... know what to do with it.

Come, you simply must meet my associates! This woman right here is a delightful pervert of sorts, and this fellow here, heβs some kind of a fucking idiot.
I love post like "you all are against rich people until they're a fictional character" because it's completely true. I am against rich people until it's a fictional character. I don't think liking Scrooge McDuck makes someone a class traitor
