“I know your thoughts on stealing, so I bought this for you.”

Marilyn was sitting in the house alone, waiting for her lover to return. She was aware of what Rikku does for a living, that doesn’t deter her at all. Although what makes her stomach turn a little bit is the thought of her significant other not being around all the time. Sure, they had a lot of points and moments together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. But Marilyn couldn’t help the loneliness she felt when they were apart. She knew that these feelings she had were “bad,” and nobody wanted a clingy girlfriend, or a clingy anything for that matter.

Thoughts of Vex suddenly clouded her mind and a sense of misery fell over her. Almost as soon as they started, they abruptly ended to her attention being drawn to the front door of their house opening.

“Honey~ I’m home~,” Rikku called into the house very cheesily.

Happiness filled Marilyn to the brim as she rushed to the door and hugged Rikku.

“Geez, did you miss me that much?” Rikku teased.

Instead of replying with words Marilyn just responded by holding Rikku tighter.

“Hey.. What’s wrong?” Rikku noticed Marilyn’s distress and she lead her to the nearby couch.

Deciding to finally speak, she finally looks up at Rikku for the first time since she got home. Tears were falling down her face. All of a sudden her silent tears take a turn for the worst and in a second Marilyn is sobbing. Almost incoherent words come out of her mouth and she tries to explain this sudden feeling of sadness arose in her.

“It’sjustthatwhenyou’regoneImissyousomuchandIdon’tlikeitwhenyouleavemeandIknowIshouldn’tactlikethisbecauseIdon’twantobeanannoyingclingygirlfriendbutIcan’thelpitand-” Rikku forced Marilyn to stop talking, only making out half of what she said.

“Woah, woah, woah? Where did this all come from?”

Marilyn didn’t decide to talk again, expecting her words to just come out as a very strange high pitched squeak from all the sobbing she was suddenly doing.

Instead of making Marilyn talk to her, Rikku decided to try and distract her from whatever she’s upset about. A sudden realization went on her face as she almost forgot what she had received that day.

“Hey, shhh.. Look, I got you something today.” Rikku said with such a big smile on her face, wiping away Mary’s tears. Marilyn looked up at her, silently telling her that she got her attention.

Rikku quickly rose up from the couch and excitedly went outside to retrieve something from her car while Marilyn sat on the couch, confused.

Almost in an instant, Rikku was back carrying something very large. A sheet was covering the object but judging by the silhouette Mary assumed it was a cage.

“Rikku.. This isn’t some weird kinky thing is it..?” Mary said weakly.

“What? Nononono.” Rikku dismissed. She quickly set the very large object in the middle of their shared living room.

“I know your thoughts on stealing, so I bought this for you.” She stated sincerely.

Rikku quickly ripped the sheet that covered it and Mary quickly found out that her hypothesis was right.

Except.. That inside the cage was a humongous bird.

“R-Rikku!? What is this!?!?!” Mary quickly stood up from the couch to gawk at the bird in their living room.

“Surprise!!!” Rikku stood beside the cage in a proud manner. “I know that you get lonely here sometimes.. So.. I got you a friend!”

The look on Marilyn’s face suggested that she wasn’t quite entirely happy with what was going on right now.

“Heheh.. d.. do you like him..?” Rikku said nervously.

Marilyn just continued to stare at the exotic bird in awe, starting to register everything that was happening right now.
