The way in which the reality of the military occupation of palestine is rendered irrelevant to conversations about what the intifada means is very very aggravating to me. Like that's literally what an intifada is responding to, occupation, military raids, checkpoints, killings of palestinians going to work is what ignited the first Intifada. When palestinians erupted into the first Intifada 20 years after the occupation of the west bank and gaza began, it was because theyve had enough of this control of their lives it wasnt some senseless violence. It was organized and palestinian civil society was unified more than it ever was today
